i do think it’s important to remember that the views in the video represent the current/latest view count meaning that the views are vastly different between the time the mvs were released and now

Because i saw other youtuber also doing this, if you want to the most popular group at those times you have to check the awards show, not the mv, because of course bts would be the most viewed right now since they’re the most popular right now so the fans would watch their older stuffs
yeah if we went by the views when the mvs were released, honestly bts wouldnt have made the list up until like 2016-2017, when they truly popped off in korea from spring day, fire, and blood sweat tears

OMG. Beast were my first ever fav idol group and was lucky enough to watch them perform live. They were the group that got me into the whole kpop life. Haha..they are still around till now but changed their name to Highlight. Their music is still great. You should react to some of their stuff 😆😊
Edit: Also, can't wait for a 2nd gen kpop idol groups podcast. The gen that got me started into kpop with some of the best groups ever! 2NE1, Sistar, 2PM, SHINee, GG, SJ, Big Bang & more 😄

You should check out Beast, they are now Highlight, they had to change their name because of Cube when they left, and now they have their own agency.
They also have a Killing Voice video, which I genuinely recommend 👌

BTS stand for "Bangtan Sonyeondan"... which literally means Bulletproof Boy scouts. So Bulletproof has always been BTS's center image.
When BTS debuted in 2013, they were heavily mocked by other k-pop fandoms, because the name 'Bulletproof' was too out there. And a newly debuted group claiming they are bulletproof and their motto is to save young people from prejudice, oppression, that rain on adolescence like bullet... was butt of joke for k-pop fandoms.
Bulletproof part 2 was BTS's 2nd single, where BTS announced they are "bulletproof" to oppression, hatred. In their 2020 album Map of the soul:7, they had a song called "We are Bulletproof: the eternal", a tribute to their 7 year journey and how once the name (bulletproof) which people mocked them for, the name they were ashamed of, is now their pride. So BTS naming their next album "WE ARE BULLETPROOF" is BTS announcing that they are Bulletproof, after 9 years, BTS are still bulletproof. It's almost a 'self titled' album name.

I just want to say ss501 was the first kpop group I ever heard. Beast are still promoting they had a comeback recently and they go by the name ‘highlight’ now. I also hope you guys checkout the girl group one too
Omg, Beast has so many hit songs. They were very well-known and still are. They were a part of Cube but when they left the label, Cube wouldn't release the name "Beast" to them so they re-branded themselves as Highlight which was the name of the last album they released as Beast. They are one of my favorite groups and are still very popular.
The compilation failed to say the views are the current ones of those videos. In reality, most of those videos wouldn't be there if they counted the views at the time. Like bts didn't have that much traction at the time of their debut, but since rn they are super big, people go back and watch those old videos too, so the views are increasing. I don't even remember back in the early 2010s groups in general having more that 50 mil views, except for Psy who broke the internet. There wasn't that much culture of mass streaming either.
You should definitely react to Beast/Highlight, they have lots of bops. Also their Killing Voice is insane

We don’t know what BTS comeback is going to be titled actually. “We Are Bulletproof” has been BTS’ slogan since debut.
We Are Bulletproof pt.1 was made by 3 of the original BTS members (RM, Iron, and Supreme Boi). Once Bang PD decided to make BTS a kpop group and some of the members left, RM, Suga, and J-hope re-recorded it as a pre-debut track. We Are Bulletproof pt.2 then became BTS’ second debut single, alongside No More Dream in 2013.

2022 list will be a whole lot different for next year. Many groups will have their comebacks this year including BTS in june. I was never a fan of kpop, only bts found me. It was so amazing their songs saved me from loneliness and frustration. 💜
2:51 Boyfriend's song Boyfriend is the one Kpop that got me into Kpop back in 2015. I was so sad to see them disband, but luckily they came back as BF. They were really popular when they first debuted, but unforunately their company at the time sent them to Japan to promote at the hight of their populairyt in Korea. When they finally had come back their company had debuted a new boy group and focusing on that group. I really recommend you check out their music videos.
I hope the member's of Boyfriend, now BF, have a bright future ahead of them and stay doing what they love. They'll always be number 1 in my heart and have a place there no matter what.
would love to see you react to a video like this again but with the views being what they were at the end of each year, because these are the views each video had up to when this video was made so it’s more of a “who CURRENTLY has the biggest fandom out of the songs released in these years” if that makes sense .. so it doesn’t accurately show you what was the most popular each year which i think you guys would find insightful
As a fan from 2nd generation era, i can tell u we 2nd gen fans culture is to download the MV from RUclips and watch it repeatedly. We don't even had a thought bout the meaning of views. RUclips and internet wasn't a big thing before.

the views are current views not views from that year. the videos are more videos that release within that year with the most views
As we know BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan which means Bulletproof Boys Scouts and as Jhope said "It has a profound meaning...‘Bangtan’ means to be resistant to bullets, so it means to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets, to preserve the values and ideal of today’s adolescents." Since their debut days, BTS were always mocked and laughed at their group name but now that name became a brand that everyone loves, a pride for the country and BTS themselves are very proud of. Plus throughout their journey BTS have been through alot but they stayed bulletproof, strong and continued being hopes and help for millions of people. This word carries alot more meanings and of course when the album drops they will explain what it exactly means. We don't know if it's the title of the album but anyways I am super excited for the comeback 😍💜💃.
Guys the views are not of when the song was released. I think it's present views on the songs and that's how the list is made. Cause 200 million views 8 years ago on a release was very very hard.

*Super Junior* owned 2009-2010-2011-2012 , they were the best selling group for 4 years in a row (the first kpop group to be able to do that) Also in 2014, they were neck-and-neck with Exo. Both of them were the top groups of 2014.

Beast were actually the first non big 3 group to win a Daesang and BTS the 2nd. Beast basically nearly made Cube Entertainment a Big3 company and essentially built that company. They were truly a big force then and they left cube together to form their own company and start again with a new name Highlight and still make regular comebacks. Necessary clarification. The views from each year are not actually the numbers they hit that year but the current numbers checked at the time the video was made so of course the songs from 2021 and 2022 won't have as many as those from 2018-2020 purely because there just hasn't been enough time for them to gather that many views. :D

okay so the bts 'we are bulletproof' thing is kinda confusing. from my understanding, in 2019 Map of the Soul: Persona was released with 'Boy with Luv' as the title track. this is opposite to their third album - 2014 Skool luv affair, with title track 'Boy in Luv'. in 2020 Map of the Soul: 7 was released with 'ON' as the title track, opposite to their 2nd album - 2013 O!RUL8,2?, with title track 'N.O'. armys have guessed that this era will correspond with bts' debut album, 2kool4skool with title tracks 'no more dream' and 'we are bulletproof pt. 2'.
personally, i don't think the title of the new song/album is going to be 'we are bulletproof', more so the theme instead. another interesting point is that in korean, 'we are bulletproof' translates generally to 'we are bts' (because bts' korean name is 'bangtan sonyeondan').

I think we are bulletproof encapsulates the theme of the album especially as the cb announcement had 9 bangtan logos, standing for 9 years of bts. and as we know we are bulletproof is SO significant to bts, it's literally what they stand for , it's they're message and we've had pt 1, pt2 and we are bulletproof the eternal so in a way I think its going to capture their journey. im not sure what to expect but since yoongi said that thing about hiphop I'm leaning towards it being similar to their earlier sound, though this could've been a reference to the snoop dog collab. alsO we still don't have an answer to the DREAM that appeared at the end of the ON video. as you said they make the opposite title tracks I feel like no more dreams opposite will be on this one ahhhh I'm so excited
in the group TEMPEST they have debuted in 2022 with a member Hanbin from Vietnam who was in ILAND
2 thing important things to note:
1) This isn’t exactly reflective of these song’s actual popularity each year as this video’s _current view count_ (eg. BTS obviously wasn’t topping anything much in 2014)
2) As you remarked on the view count, the heavy inflation is
A. Due to the increased interest in kpop
_but also_
B. And this probably has had the most effect: STREAMING CULTURE 😶
PS. BEAST is awesome. Y’all should definitely check out some BEAST. They’re still promoting but under the name HIGHLIGHT now (since they didn’t manage to keep the copyrights to their name when they left their previous company 🥲)
Please do note that RUclips STREAMING wasn’t a thing during 2nd gen era that’s why theirs a massive views jump every year.
Internet or wifi wasn’t as accessible as it before as it was now.
Many fandom does streaming so for example BTS. BTS didn’t really blew up until Blood sweat and tears era but you will see their older songs being in the list that’s because of streaming.
When BTS has a comeback or any group out their fandoms do RUclips STREAMING were they watch THIER FAVE IDOL GROUPS music videos in a row including THE LATEST release song to help the numbers in the music video increase so many in the list are actually not accurate knowing that the VIDEO YOU’ve watch is a new video. So the data they accumulated is the data now and not before. So Fandoms who does streaming obviously overtakes the older gen’s vid, that’s why you can see BTS older songs in the list but if you look at the KOREAN CHART at the time during that specific year you would know that a lot of 2nd gen actually holds the list in the early years.
Beast are still going strong till this day they couldn't keep their name

*Super Junior-M* is one of the top 10 most viewed male groups of 2013 but the video maker didn't include them.. probably because they make Chinese songs.. but it's kinda unfair because Super Junior were on hiatus in 2013 and only Super Junior-M released a comeback

They weren't really the number 1 of their earlier years. Its that a lot of newer armys have gone to revisit their older songs. Although they did have decent views back then it wasn't to the same level as their recent years. I've followed BTS since 2013
