I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you sometimes switch between bent and straight fingers on the valves? I'm new to trumpet(I play sax) and am constantly told to bend my fingers so I don't make the valves stick. Great music as always!
He sometime does flat fingers to help with half valving, a really hard skill like what he did at the beginning. Other then that, it could be just speed but hey I'm just a year 3 tpet player I probably dont know too much lol
@@BluecoatsFan As a person who’s played trumpet for 6 years I’d say it mostly comes down to preference but also what song you’re playing. Sometimes you may need to keep them bent when playing faster, sometimes it helps not to. I hope that made sense.✌️

I play trumpet and fluglehorn in jazz band and I'm better at fluglehorn than trumpet but that's cause it's 4 valve and more conical like euphonium (which I play in concert band) and tuba. I would love to sound as good as you do on fluglehorn. I would even like to be half as good.
