The problem is students don't study much after getting into IIT's and their CGPA drops they aren't able to sit in the college placement and hence have to go for higher studies i.e. Mtech etc.
Merily IIT tag is nothing. Choose branch wisely . Get admission in either in top branch or go for core-branch . Too much reservation seat for girls is bad (getting seat with 3 times lower score then male).

Problem is high cost, not fresher package. Because average students usually get this package, even in MBA. IIM also charge lakhs of rupees. Here ration, electricity, water, laptop, scooty are free but education and health are costly. Working in one of the product based companies I can say ai ml will take most of the jobs in it , requirements to hire on entry level job less, replaced by ai ml jobs and research and development jobs will become more but I can say even in iits people are less bothered to go phds than btech ,and graduates are hired in consulting firms that do not do r&d can be easily taken by ai In future
@Nezy-csi just because someone got into institute based on some exam doesn't make that person good for the job.. engineering requires in-built skills in that area and imaginations. If those are not there then passing exam is useless. With our education system we are just creating people who can write very nicely after mugging up from the book. If you tell them to create something new from scratch, they will go blank.
If possible please share list of students who were not placed. As many of brilliant person saying that these students are belong to some specific category.

This may be happening because of not selecting students on only based on merit and giving chance to very low rakers students based on reservations. 60 percent reservation is extremely high, it will not create competive atmosphere and can bring low merit students low steam feeling when they see thier peer general category students are doing extremely well while some of them might be facing difficulties in getting mimimum passing marks. The placement companies even keep minimum cut off marks for selections. Extreme reservation can dilute the IIT brand and quality in long run.

The problem is students don't study much after getting into IIT's and their CGPA drops they aren't able to sit in the college placement and hence have to go for higher studies i.e. Mtech etc.

@Nezy-csi just because someone got into institute based on some exam doesn't make that person good for the job.. engineering requires in-built skills in that area and imaginations. If those are not there then passing exam is useless. With our education system we are just creating people who can write very nicely after mugging up from the book. If you tell them to create something new from scratch, they will go blank.

This may be happening because of not selecting students on only based on merit and giving chance to very low rakers students based on reservations. 60 percent reservation is extremely high, it will not create competive atmosphere and can bring low merit students low steam feeling when they see thier peer general category students are doing extremely well while some of them might be facing difficulties in getting mimimum passing marks. The placement companies even keep minimum cut off marks for selections. Extreme reservation can dilute the IIT brand and quality in long run.

Problem ye hai ki IIT entrance ko though us direction mai kiya ki without coaching aap prepare hee nhi kar paoge, har saal kuch bhi naya nhi hain, questions k face change hote hain pr concepts lagbhag wahi hain, isse hota ye hai ki jiki practice uska selection jabki ... Ye khel kisi jamane mai visualisation ka bhi tha...jab written paper hota tha...and family of triangle ka question aata tha tab exam mai baithkar socha jata hai turant k ye relations bhi hote hain... Means ye ab creative logo k bajaye kitabo k sath gadha majdoori karke aane wale bhi clear kar le rahe hain... Iska sabse bada proof hai kabhi tech fest mai Jao IITs mai rank holders k project dekho kaafi milenge jinki koi acchi creativity or sense nhi hai...
