10:00 Totally understand why you wouldn't want to film a vet trip! Already so stressful trying to remember all the info. Would be awesome to get some b-roll footage though (with their permission of course) that you can slot in here and there... I'd suggest sending hubby on that trip. :'D
My privately owned vet clinic charges $105 for a Guinea pig wellness check. Dogs and cats are $95. X-ray is $750 and ultrasound $1,000 with consultation fee afterwards being $250. My oldest piggy, Lily, is almost 7 and I can’t afford paying these high prices. I live in San Francisco where everything is expensive. Some of my friends take their dogs to vets 2-3 hours away in more rural areas that charges lower prices. I just signed up my piggies for insurance with Nationwide.
My vet’s checkup is $70 BUT you get a discount if you bring in more than 1 animal at a time. So I have 12, so I do like 4 per visit once a year Wellness visits are not covered by their insurance so that part sucks lol
Wow, your vet is affordable. I just took one of my piggies to the vet the other week. The total was almost $400 ($90 for exam, blood tests and $35 medication). She's had soft poops off and on for quite a while and turns out she has hyperthyroidism. She's been taking the medication for 5 days now (which she hates) and I hoping it will help! My girl is a biter when it's something she doesn't like, so it makes it so difficult!
10:36 umm, each pig for a checkup is only 30 dollars!!!!!!!!!! I am having issues with my GP right now and brought him to the vet for 95$ for a 10 min checkup for the vet to tell us he was perfectly fine since my gp suddenly pooped a normal poop unlike the previous 3 days🙄 I am bringing him in tomorrow bc his poops went back to being very mushy and borderline diarrheh despite acting and eating completely normally!!! Tm I will pay minimum 95$ and they will most likely be asking to do some tests since I was in less than a week ago. I am only 2ish hours north of of her and the prices up here drive me crazy because for any little thing I have to bring him in bc I am always scared that if I leave it something bad will happen or if I treat it myself something bad will happen.
I’m sorry to hear about your piggy. I hope they are ok. So prices are mostly determined on if the vet clinic is privately owned or not. Most are bought out by larger corporations but keep the mom and pop name. My vet clinic is still privately owned so they don’t have to meet certain pharm criteria’s, push certain meds, and are able to be more flexible with pricing or offering lower prices in certain situations. So many call and see if there’s a vet clinic that sees exotics that’s still privately owned. But yes overall exotics are more expensive. We have clinics here in Richmond too that are $95 just for a standard exam. It’s ridiculous.
@@GuineaPigJungle I honestly didn’t think you’d see my rant😂 My vet clinic is privately owned, I think the dmv area can just get away with charging so much more because mine is the cheaper vet around me.
I can't help thinking you're a vet's dream : )
It's interesting to see how knowledgeable your vets are. My vets could never tell me what was wrong with my piggies whenever they got sick.
I’ve struggled to find good vet care for my piggies at a good price. A basic exam at my current vet is $78-$106 it’s crazy!
Is that per pig or do they give you a discount if you bring more than one at a time?
