Do you think a regular minivan would be fine on the dirt roads to the dispersed camping? I recollect driving out there a few years back in a compact car and having issues. Then again it's probably subjective because I've seen civics parked at remote 4x4 trailheads where they have no business being. Anyway, thanks for this vid.
The roads outside of the grassland are pretty good due to all the oil and gas trucks that travel on them. Inside the the grassland at the buttes, it's bumpy with little room to turn around. Not sure you'd make it
It is a great place for bird photography as there are prairie exclusive species.

Definitely! The roads aren’t bad in the area
Thanks for the video, and just in time! We're stopping there for an overnight on our way to Rocky Mountain NP next month.
Heartlands
what is the road you were on when showing the camp sites?
Listed as Pawnee Buttes Trail Head. GPS coordinates: 40.81055, -103.99708
@@CampgroundRecon , so did you ride on the trail head to get to a clear spot to camp?
Continue on the road just past the parking lot for the trailhead.
@@CampgroundRecon can you camp in May/June. I'm doing a motorcycle trip with my friend and this would be a purfect place to setup a overnight stay.
Yes. This one is open year round.
I've been thinking of heading out that way to do some stargazing, seems like it would be an amazing view of the night sky out there.
It would!
I’ve been wondering what those sites look like- thanks!
The big wooden fence that appears briefly on the right side is where Google shows dispersed camping but that area is closed now.
Any idea if a big rig could make it in there. I can’t tell by the video how good the roads might be for 65 plus feet. Thank you
