- Which is better? Diesel powered Sprinter RV or a Ford E-Transit based Electric RV. Winnebago built both my 2016 View and this eRV2 model. Different in every regard. Which one is best? No one size fits all in RVing. Here is a brief look at the future of a more environmentally friendly Vanlife experience. If the shoe fits, wear it.
It's great to see Ron actually test driving the Winnebago electric since it is not available to purchase yet..I have really enjoyed his videos and have same Magnum Peak electric bike he has and have loved riding it for almost 5 years..I agree that 108 mile is not enough, thinking that a bigger battery with greater range must be on the horizon..I am waiting for my wife's R1S Riven to arrive.. should be hear in the next couple of months. Thanks Ron for all the great videos..jay
100 mile range RV is a overpriced joke, not even a RV just a van conversion.
Way off the subject, but are you still charging your View’s lithium battery without a DC to DC charger? Does alternator charge up battery 100 percent? My DC to DC charger died and I am thinking of going without. Thanks
Yes i charge directly to battery but rarely need to. Solar keeps all batteries charged most of the time. I have a switch in the dash to use the alternator for charging when needed. Otherwise i leave it off.
@@ontheroadwithron2432 Thanks
I had an electric car that I rented back and I believe it was 2019. And I have to say I was very disappointed. I live in new england, and lithium batteries are not very happy add temperature extremes. The range of my car at that point was 82 me at summer temperatures, and when it got to the winter in New England and down below freezing, the range went down to about 30 mi. That was without using heat, and so I learned a very difficult lesson about electric cars.
I currently have a Ford C-Max hybrid, and I think at this point a hybrid electric car is the way to go. I also see the variation and battery capacity in the winter when my fuel economy goes down to about 38 miles per gallon, but I noticed that it's happy is temperature is about 72 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit outside where I get about 47 to 48 mpg. The beauty of it is though, charge time is nothing because I simply pump in gasoline at a gas station. That's the other problem with the electric car, the time to charge. I love the electric for the lack of oil changes in spark plug work, but it isn't right for the job just yet.
The EVs are getting better and better. My 2020 Tesla does fine driving to Colorado at Christmas time. In the cold it gets just under 200 miles on a charge. And I do use the heater. Charging does add a couple hours to the trip.
I miss your post. We also have a 2016 View. Hope all is well with you and your family.
Yes have been dealing with some personal issues but plan to keep going.
Remember the tape deck taken when we drove to your dorm freshman year.
I remember playing Chicago on my 8 track as I drove to my girlfriend’s house.
EV vehicule are a real joke……
Couldn’t disagree more. I’m sure Tesla disagrees as well. I do agree the 100 mile range for an RV is unacceptable.
Enjoyed the informative and ‘real’ video. Thank you, Ron. We have a 19D that we love. Originally we thought more of a travel van but glad we went this way… at least for now.
I’m happy with my 2016 View. Just wish it had adaptive cruise.
We have a 2015 View and never use the microwave. We are thinking about replacing it with a good toaster oven. Thanks for sharing
You might want to consider an air fryer. Might be more useful.
It's hard to imagine EV will ever work for what most folks want from an RV. It seems that hydrogen or some sort of green fuel will win the RV niche. Time will tell.
If they can make a semi truck they can make an rv.
