OMG this is incredible, thanks for putting this together for everyone. You're the best! ✨
Thank you so much for this❤
Thank you so much, fellow ex-colleague! (architect planning to transition here as well). You cut the bullshit and go straight to the point with hundred percent honesty without sugarcoating stuff, I appreciate that so much, thanks again. P.S. Could not help but notice that the initial stages of the video you still have sunlight outside, and as it proceeds it's evening time :D grateful for the hard work and contribution.
Hey, former ex-colleague! Happy architecture to UX transition. 😃 You're very welcome. Some folks don't like that style, but hey, I don't like people to sugarcoat things for me either. I love that you noticed the time changing. Haha, that's the architect in you showing up! Jokes aside, thanks for saying that; it helps me stay motivated to continue making content after a long day of work. Good luck with the career transition!
This is the best UX video I’ve watched so far! Thank you!! I’m going to give myself the same challenge that Google gave you!
You're very welcome! I'm glad you're finding the content helpful - I might do a video of the Google challenge I did before this one along with the learning. I'm not sure, let me know your thoughts :)
Youre a blessing, thank you so much for breaking this down to us viewers. Very much appreciated, wishing you nothing but the best!!💕
Aw, thanks so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it! 😊 💛
You've become one of my fav UX'er's on this platform
Thank you so much, that really means a lot. 😊 it’s great to have your support!
the best video on the topic on YT. thank you Ricardo
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful :)
Thank you for this. I’ve been working as a UI/UX designer for 4 years and have yet to put together a case study and a portfolio. This is very helpful. Would you do a vlog on how to put together a portfolio? Thanks 😊
You’re very welcome! I want to, I just need to get myself motivated to make it haha It’s on my to-do list though so stay tuned ☺️
It is super helpful for me, I am working on this kind of project at school, thank you so much! ✨
OMG good luck with your project! So glad I could be of some help :D
This video is incredibly helpful! I've learned more about UX in this course than anything I've learned so far! Thank you!
That's incredible to hear. I really enjoyed making this one :)
as an experienced junior designer that havent had a job in a yr i needed this😢
I'm sorry to hear that, I'm glad this video is helping somehow :)
You are love! Thanks for the concise information and explanation ❤
Aw, thanks for the kind words 🥹 You're very welcome!

thank you soooo much for this! just right in time to brush up my portfolio 😆
You're very welcome! 🌟
This is awesome!! what aout the task model? I've never heard about that - how does it look like?
That's a great question! A task model is a visual representation of the steps a user takes to complete a specific goal within a product or system. It helps designers understand the user's mental model and identify potential pain points.
Think of it like a flowchart, but focused on the user's perspective. It can be a simple diagram or a more complex model, depending on the complexity of the task. Hope this helps!
lovee your video please keep it going
Thanks so much - I'm working on it! Work has been super busy lately. 🫨
One thing worth mentioning, Even when its a personal short form project, we can always keep the User test pool big enought from 10-20 users from differing Cohorts. I can also see that you did not consider users from opposing preferences including edge cases if possible. Quite similar cohort of users, with very low numbers. 10-20 could have been better and not difficult for a 2 day exercise.
That’s a great point! It would have been great to have a more diverse test pool.
Thank you so much for the informative video!! Super helpful and appreciate the effort you put in to help people like meee.
Do you have any advice for a 28 yr old guy who just unf*cked his life, has one year learning ux design and is working in small graphic design projects. How can I get into the industry?
I love your videos man!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that! Funny story, I switched to UX design when I was 28 too! So I wouldn't be worried about your age at all. There are so many ways to get into the industry that you'll hear throughout YT but, for me, going back to school so I could do internships (because most internships you have to be a full time student) was the best strategy I could think of because I'm not good at networking (or I should say, I don't enjoy it). I enrolled in a 3 year program and then I dropped out after I got a full time job from the Google internship 🤣.
I also got an offer from another internship so it wasn't just Google and, yes, I did have to take on student debt but my new UX income definitely makes up for it and I should be able to pay it off in a couple of years. I know school is not possible for everyone so, if you're good at networking I would say take that route, meet people at industry events, hackathons, meetups, and then do some pro bono work to get some real client projects under your belt (for non-profits and industries that you care about). Hope this helps, you got this 💪.
@@rahpstudio Awesome man thank you, that helps a lot.
Right now I'm working on projects for my portfolio and getting involved in online communities.
It is a little scary, I live in México and I'm self taught, that makes me feel insecure sometimes about my communication skills, or just about my general knowledge in technical scenarios. But I love the small steps.
I'll stop before adding "Therapist" to your title hehe.
Dear algorithm, help @rahpdesign to grow
Hahaha “Content creator UX therapist” I love that. Don’t get discouraged by the language, Spanish is my first language too and a lot of tech companies have global workforces so we are not the only ones. Keep at it, you sound like you’re on the right path!
This was so helpful! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome! Glad to hear the content was helpful 😊
Really Really Really Really Helpful ❤❤❤❤❤
Glad to hear that! 🙂

Thank you! Just what i needed. Very informative

For an interaction process, what device frame would you use? Would you use an Android phone, iPhone or just something that resembles a smartphone in general? Not sure how much of a difference it makes, depending on who sees it, but that's something that's been on my mind since forever. Also, I am so glad this channel seems to be working out for you right now. I'm definitely sharing your videos whenever I get the chance to.
Thanks so much @Kephinio! I really appreciate that 😊. That's a great question. I would say the bias is towards mobile devices and most designers like to use iPhone but you could make an argument that you are using Android because it's more used in the world and your product needs to reach a global audience. I think it comes down to what device your experience / case study is optimized for and you can build a story around that. For example, if you're designing a puzzle game for grandparents and grandkids to bond, then a tablet might make more sense so that both are able to play together. Hope this helps and that you're doing well!
Usually you design for the user/audience and they tend to use something more than something else. So it depends and should be researched otherwise you are not an UX Designer but making some nice UI for... noone but you?
@@user-ku5be4nc3g That's a great point! I'm answering under the assumption that this is a fictitious case study but in the real world, yes, you will definitely have a real audience and user base to base these decisions off of.
hey your videos really helped me . Can you make a video on how to crack job as a fresher and how many project to show in portfolio
I will add it to my list!
Thank you so much! I'm quite good at UI design but totally new to UX, design this helped a lot?❤
You're very welcome - thanks for the support! 💛✨
This project structure/design mthod you have chose, would be similar to a design sprint?
Exactly! Very similar
behind these 7 days, you can see more than 365 days continuously practice and study
aaaaaaaand… subscribed 👏
Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing this! Your channel is so incredibly helpful!!
I'd love to see how you make animated mock ups to your designs
You're so welcome and thank you for feedback! That's a great idea, I don't love making Figma / software tutorials but maybe I can find a way to talk about it in a different way.
Thank u so much💥
You're very welcome!
off topic but what camera do you use to film your videos?
A canon EO5 I hate but paid too much money for lol
@@rahpstudio dont hate the poor thing😂your video quality is nice and your background setup looks very cozy☕also what lightning setup do you use?
are u using a blue yeti in this video? can u tell me how u configured it to content ? idk whats wrong with mine TwT
don't get me started with the Yeti haha I have it in the videos but I stopped using it because I couldn't figure out how to use it either 🤣 now it's just a prop
Don't we have to do a competitor analysis?
Absolutely! That's another great thing to add if you have time. In my experience, competitor analysis can take up a lot of time and you can't really go into detail in your case study so, perhaps you can spend some time looking at competitors and just give some high level insights in your case study, just to show that you did it.
Excellent video!
Thank you!!!
currently having trouble purchasing the template is there another way?

@@rahpstudio thank you so much it worked this time!!
Hi! I'm Marianne, a college student from Philippines. I was wondering if I am eligible to apply for an internship at google this January as a User Experience Research Intern. I'd greatly appreciate any information or guidance you could offer regarding available opportunities. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Hi! I would check the Google Internship website for the latest guidelines. Good luck!
buildyourfuture.withgoogle.com/internships
I took down notes for anyone needing them. TOPICS
PHASE 1: Discovery and Research ~ one to two days
PHASE 2: Strategy and Problem Definition ~max one day
PHASE 3: Design & Ideation ~ two to three days
PHASE 4: Crafting the Case Study ~ take your time crafting a great story
PHASE 1:
Why - what is your goal?
Who- your audience?
Context- client’s needs & use cases.
What is the company Constrains- MVPs of the product, timeline
How can you make it your own?
PHASE 1:
User Interviews - need finding
Understand & define the pain points (2-3 participants is enough) (Business goals)
Make a list of assumptions
PHASE 2:
How might you solve the pain points?
What features can you design/build? - what new experiences can you create that help solve some of the pain points that we saw
What are the goals and hypotheses? - what am I trying to achieve with this new experience ~and tie them back to the pain points I saw in my research
PUTTING TOGETHER A COHESIVE STORY WITH THE CASE STUDY. ~phase one phase two to tie well together
PHASE 3:
Explore, sketch, wireframe have fun!
Do a mini brainstorm (even by yourself) ~ show that process in your case study
Start drafting your user journeys, CUJs ~ what are the edge cases you need to consider, can create journey based on primary CUJ
If useful, create a task model ~ to help you think through all the steps that the user needs to complete to use the feature or complete the task that they are trying to achieve with your product
Select your primary flows ~ can start wireframing this in high fidelity
Which features to highlight? ~ in your case study
Consider prototype / animations
IF YOU DON’T HAVE TIME, WHICH PARTS OF THE JOURNEY WOULD YOU CREATE HIGH FIDELITY, WHICH ONES WOULD YOU LEAVE AT MEDIUM FIDELITY / LOW FIDELITY
PHASE 4:
How will you tell the story?
Where will you host your case study?
Take your time crafting a great story
A section for learning and takeaways
were you able to create a ux case study from scratch watching this video or did you have to have prior information
God Bless you!!
Community hero! 💪
Hy ricardo ur videos awesome if i am not experience zero experience so there is a chance to get job in google..
Thank you! And yes you can! Have you considered an apprenticeship? Lots of companies offer them, including Google. I would check if they offer them where you are ruclips.net/video/5Y23epJPT6M/видео.htmlsi=FP0n_R3Mm-fkEsFa
The other option is an internship but that requires you to be a full time student in a university program. Hope this helps!
@@rahpstudioactually can i apply directly for job full time job
@@anushkabisht4328 You can but most of them require 1-3 years of experience minimum 😕, that's why they offer other options for folks without experience or new to the field like apprenticeships, internships, new grad roles, and other programs. You can browse all the available options here: buildyourfuture.withgoogle.com/programs
What if you are a ux/ui designer with no real world experience of creating digital products.....how can you write a good case study
I think it's totally okay to start with a fictional project and practice or, find a free course that walks you through how to make a case study, that's what I did! :)
The template seems gone!

Hey Ricardo, if you are at Google, know that Google UX really sucks
Do you care to elaborate on why Google’s UX sucks? Or this is just your uneducated opinion?
As someone who just got a professional certification from them, please elaborate.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I love it here. 🥰
