I would like to say thank you for all you've done all the years with your lore videos. I wish you luck with your third party books but I'm sure Wizards the coast is going force you to demonetize or either sue you. As soon as D&D one hits Wizards is not going to get another dime from me. I plan to boycott and wish I could sooner. Unfortunately I'm addicted to collecting icons the Realms and I'd like to see that through. But I'll not support D&D one at all. My Hope Is Wizards will go bankrupt and they'll be forced to sell D&D to someone that will actually love it and the fans again. I hope you're still around after that Smoke Clears. I definitely want to support you in several other third-party creators in the coming future because I'm not doing business with Wizards much longer at all.

Raulothim: *Crashes in front of the party* "*ALIENS!* They're all around the realm! Not in the realm, outside! But they gnaw at the gates! Waiting, testing. Hoping to sell our souls and bodies to forces even more incomprehensibly vile! Beware! Beware the daggers outside the veil!"
Barbarian: "Okay maybe that."

I like how Raulothim and Daurgothoth both basically had Midlife Crisis' upon coming into contact with Spelljamming vessels, and then used the power of paranoia to go super saiyan

Gem Dragons are the dragon type more than any other that makes me go 'Wait a minute'.
Cool as frak an idea though.
TBC its not how they are alive that makes my brain goes 'huh?'.
Its how they dont shatter on their own weight.
I know they are mystical creatures, but I can get my head around metallic dragons because metal while normally hard can be quite pliable when heated.
Gem dragons are just a level of fantastical to me (in a good way) that the others dont quite reach.
I had no idea that the one who made the “Psychic Lance” spell was a dragon. I’ve put that spell in a few builds but never knew the lore behind it

Ashardalon just doesn't have a lot of lore, which is a shame. They could have done so much more with him.
It always feels odd to me that Emerald dragons prefer to live near volcanoes, seeing as the colors just don't feel right. But I like to imagine that all the light from the lava refracts through the emerald dragon, giving the whole room a greenish glow
Could be, because Emerald (Beryl) is formed in pyroclasts. Old ancient volcano cavity vents and water seeping through them and presurised.

Hoping for a Shadow Dragon to show up in the series!
Havent he covered it? Shadow dragon WERE its own type but its now a state of how any dragon lives. Any dragon can turn into a shadow dragon by spending enough time in the Shafowfell. AFAIK. 4e purple dragons was called shadow dragon at first, in Drizzt novels/ boardgame. Shimmergloom were one. But then WotC separated purple and shadow and both became their separate things. Purple dragons are Chromatic dragons. In Fizban its indirectly clarified that tve Deep dragons are their own thing. Living further down in the undrrdark than Putples, lives in and around mushrooms etc and have psychothropics spore breath. Purples are more roamy and breathes energy instead. Even now in 5e and EVEN if WotC didnt bring them up again alongside Yellows, Oranges( dragon magazine 65, 248, yes there isxan own Purple dragon there too ), 4e Gray ( ex fang dragon ) and 4e Brown desert dragons. Hope it clarified

Spelljammer is such one of the most obscure and underloved corners of dnd. Mostly forgotten after 2e.

Great! Cant wait for the named Topaz and Amethyst dragons, heck there was even a Mercury dragon on that old forgotten realms site. Both Steel and Mercury are metallic dragons though.Also Mr.Rhexx maybe do a collab with Dungeon Dad? He made expansive videos on the underused/ lost Yellow, Purple and Orange dragons, (which I would wish WotC would make offical in a fat new Draconomicon for D&Done/6e) I know you have too but that was years ago, I enjoyed them though. Gray and Brown dragons + other Gem and Metallics deserve more renown aswell
Might I recommend to you AJ Pickett's (aka The Mighty Gluestick) channel, his rare dragon types videos in particular? He just recently covered the unappetizing Gloom Dragon, which I had no idea existed. Then again, I was never an expert in Hades, lol. 😅

Sooo... he's basically a tinfoil hat fanatic, an obscenely powerful one, but a tinfoil hat fanatic nonetheless.
I mean he exists in a world where a Space Empire was legitimately trying to conquer the Crystal Spheres and nothing in technically stopping another one from forming. A thing about paranoia nutters is that technically their craziness has a legitimate reason to exist. However, as is nature with paranoia it can get out of hand very quickly.
I dont think tin hat fanatics can exist in a world where you can wish that rain was and always has been sausages
It’s worth noting that sound itself is vibrations in the air, so when that vibration gets strong enough it starts to become less a sound and more just a shockwave, which fits perfectly with the concussive nature of thunder damage.

Psionics are something I absolutely love in D&D, shame it's so ignored in 5e.
Same, my favorite class is and always has been the soulknife from 3.5, and I'm just disappointed with how they've tried implementing it in 5e; granted, I don't play 5e, so maybe it's due to limitations of the system and balancing differences, but it just doesn't feel like it has the same flavor it's supposed to have. If I remember correctly, they just made it a rogue subclass that wields two knives made of mental energy. I much preferred the 3.5 version where the mindblade was a single sword that you could shapeshift into different weapons or split in two and give cool abilities that you can mix and match to have a unique customization (the ability where you split your mindblade into 8 pieces to attack every enemy around you was also cool), not to mention the soulbow and illumine soul prestige classes (I know prestige classes aren't a thing in 5e, subclasses are the closest substitute, but still, they were cool). And on top of those abilities are the soulknife-specific feats, which added even more flare and prowess. Also if they really want to make soulknife a subclass instead of its own class it should be a monk subclass and I will die on this hill.
And this is just the soulknife, the least psionic psionic class, the others just straight-up don't exist unless you use the mystic from Unearthed Arcana, and I believe that's been made no longer official? Could be wrong, though. But yeah, psionic classes got screwed over.
My weak spot it's for the elemental forces, wich also feel a bit short a lot of the time

Recently I came across Crystal dragons and fell in love with their 5e design and some of the stuff from Fizban about them.
Steel dragons would be awesome too, they are quite rare and underrepresented, probably because they are the smallest and weakest dragons overall, but still have some fascinating characters.
I'd love to see you cover the purple, orange, and yellow chromatic dragons.

I am LOVING this dragon series.
surprisingly this is the second dragon you've covered that I want to steal. Raulothim seems interesting both as a quest patron (for sealing up portals and such) and as a dragon to kill. It actually makes me want to run a FR game with him as the focal point.
Really hope you can eventually cover the Prismatic dragons. Just one of my personal favorite kind dragons.
Love these videos and hope all the drama/legal issues with Wotc/Hasbro are fixed and we can all take a collective sigh of relief.

The moment you mentioned he has the same clone spell as Manshoon, things suddenly got way more dangerous and catastrophic. A similar situation as the Manshoon Wars, but with very powerful dragons can lead to an incredibly nasty situation!

@@NonExclusive6669 they where always going to do that... thing is DnD might not be able too. Their main competitor technically uses the OGL so... yeah thats fucked. Any new rival will right now likely have a bunch of indies but no real main alternative. All of which are likely to compete against each other.
It turns out asking for WoTC to take more and more control over the IP to deal with the problematic parts of the fandom literally can only be done by DnD straight up controlling the IP in full. Which... a lot of people said was going to happen.
Raulothim is literally my favorite dragon so far lol, my character has that same paranoia vibe 😂. I am currently working on planeshifting into Faerun and tracking down several of the dragons youve covered, starting with Arveiturace and Raulothim lol

Sonic damage was changed to Thunder damage in 4th edition, just as Electric was changed to lightning. The only difference is the name.

I play an emerald Dragonborn rogue soulknife. He used to be a human until he met his master, an emerald dragon whose name was never told to my character, if it’s Raulothim then we both have a lot in common. We’re both curious and have a desire to expand our knowledge of the material plane and we’re both always paranoid, for me especially after learning about Sardior and all the lore stuff about him too.

Just backed the Kickstarter yesterday, super excited to get the hardcover :D the art is the book looks amazing
Listening to this video I got the idea of a Warlock having Raulothim as a Patron as a promise to deliver magic. Be it spell books they write, scrolls, items, etc in exchange for his assistance. But during this, the Warlock and possibly the party, learn the dragon used to be an explorer before becoming paranoid. So they decided to work together in hopes to help him past his paranoia.
Eventually helping him take his first steps out of his volcano in a long time, taking on a possibly Dragonborn like form. And while on the ship to leave his island as he's fighting past more paranoia, he could feel accomplished with the support of the player characters. This could go 1 of 2 ways.
1: He works past his paranoia and wants to go back to his hobbies of exploring the land, map making and all that while still collecting magic.
2: The DM has a Spell Jammer ship appear overhead and Raulothim has a full on breakdown as he goes into the fettle position, tail between his legs, all that. And the team realizes they still have a lot to help him work past.
I can't wait for the inevitable edition in the future where dragon liches form together and are the great great bad bads of all dragonkind and pose super mega threat. All these powerful dragons are going to turn to it as it's the only real way to become MORE, and these dragons nearing (or already are) reaching that point, are already of immense power.

With the ring thing, I believe he owns just a plain ring that he is deeply affectionate of and that other sages (not dragons likely) assume is swapped between other magic weapons

I'm currently DM'ing a campaign for my players that revolves around absolutely as much dragon stuff as possible. The overall module is constructed around "Tyranny of Dragons"; however, I've relied on Fizbahn's guide to teach me as much as I can. That being said after absolutely enjoying your videos and subsequently this one right here I realize due to your commentary that Fizbahn's is incorrect in dragon lore and overall dragon knowledge. This is my first time ever DM'ing and I haven't played too many campaigns before that; that being said I absolutely love the game and to be honest I've enjoyed it more now that I'm the one putting smiles or frowns on the adventurer's faces participating. I want to do this the best I possibly can so I would appreciate it if you had any insight on the best material to consume in regards to doing a "Dragons everything" campaign correctly as that was what I had asked the more knowledgeable people I know when I was trying to figure out a module. I've been adding "character arcs" and specialized dragon horde weapons that will increase in power and eventually make it to artifact level once my players have gone through their backstory arcs and then going back to main story within the module in between each arc for progress. I have no idea if I'm doing the right things but I know from watching critical role everyone has their own style and I feel if I want to develop my own the first thing is to absorb knowledge but the correct knowledge because after seeing your videos there is quite a lot of things that end up being far more interesting and have depth to them when its the "forgotten realms" version of things. For instance, there is a player in my campaign that is obsessed with kobolds but even they had no idea about dragonwrought kobolds or the kobold god and how he came to be or how kobolds came to be to begin with. I found out all of this information from your video on them and I don't think I would have been able to stumble upon it without you; that kind of info. about kobolds is definitely not in Fizbahn's even though it should be considering the kobolds origins/lineage. Sorry for the ramble but I would appreciate your input MrRhexx.

Once you are done with the unique dragons I would greatly enjoy and appreciate a video about Manshoon. Connects to both the Zhentarim, Night Masks, and Elminster, so useful for many a FR game.

Sounds like a fun dragon to play as a nervous wreck who's also able to kick your hide when scared. Befriending him would be a great boon, even more if you can calm his worries.

Raulthim’s lair feels like a great encounter for a level 19th party. They need his vast knowledge to find the BBG, and only he has such vast knowledge of Toril, just a matter of if he’ll cooperate…

Maybe the next adventure you make should be about the norse and Olympian gods. Fans seem to be very interested in gods. So maybe create you own God 5e system and have a way for players to become gods then battle other gods.
I can't wait for the silver dragon. Silvers are by far my favorite, I have a paladin who's whole story was he was a Paladin of the Talons (a sect of paladins who fought for bahamut) and one day used his ability to transform only to find himself stuck. Now he quests to get unstuck. I'm very curious as to what the silver video will look like

That was a fun video! Granted, I was initially excited because Gem Dragon, which means psionics, which we didn't really cover, but then 5e has been a bit hit and miss, and vague, with psionics, as a whole, so I'm not really trying to criticize.
I'm always intrigued by the really old, powerful dragons, who have the powers of a flying siege engine, and a powerful caster, combined with ages of experience. I like these videos especially since 5e has sort of taken the magic out of dragons. Sure, they are powerful, and their elemental powers are impressive, but I think they know that giving a monster that much health, at that high of an AC, means it doesn't have the usual glass cannon failings other casters do, and so they just make them all physical battles, so parties can win. Breath weapons are great, when they aren't lines, but even these have recharge, and so better to not give dragons a dependable, long-range offense, because why wouldn't they use it? So anyway, when we get to discuss the Klauths, the Imryths, and other dragons with additional powers, it makes me remember back to when dragons were terrifying, and could kill parties solo; I guess I miss that. Since I loved psionics, too, extra points.
Thanks for doing this! I have to say I look forward to Amethyst, being the "strongest" Gems, and especially since Gem Dragons, in total, feature so little. Have a good one!

I was in a Pathfinder party {level 17, mythic tier 4} that briefly, accidentally met Raulothim. We tried to teleport to Waterdeep, with members of our party polymorphed into dragons -forgetting about the Dragonward!! We were shunted into the ocean near his island and made our way there. Not long after arriving, we saw this splendorous emerald dragon diving towards us from the clouds. Panicked, my sorceress went to teleport the party away, but she couldn't get everyone in our large party with the spell slots she had left. The party's techpriest and shadow assassin broke away from the party, to save me from choosing who to leave behind. Upon getting in range to read their minds, Raulothim paused and spoke with them briefly. He decided our mission {to save the Weave from the Shadovar} was worth sparing them. He wiped the memory of him from their minds and teleported them to Waterdeep. Insane shenanigans.
Hmmm I wonder if Raulothim actively opposes Mind Flayers given how Illithids are from Spelljammer iirc. Maybe he’s too afraid to oppose them, but maybe he can nudge adventurers to take them on
Also, imagining Gale from BG3 being sent by Mystra to petition Raulothim for aid against the Absolute/Mind Flayer threat sounds hilarious. She knows the gem dragon’s been preparing shit for a long time after all, and might feel this will settle things between them
I think you should do a video on Redfang. He would be a pretty interesting topic, in my opinion. On the other hand, he may not be cannon in the Forgotten Realms, so... I'm not entirely certain what to say about that. I think he would be, though.
You can find information about him listed in Dungeon Magazine Issue #149, on Pages 63 - 66. You probably already knew that from researching your videos about Demogorgon though.
