Out of all the spider valve videos I've watched you have achieved the best tone from it that I would totally use. Great songs too by the way. I have 2 of those heads I got real cheap and now going back to see if I can salvage anything from it thanks to your video. Thanks man!

I could have done better knocking out some of the sizzly mid/highs. These amps have a lot of that, but thank you!!

If you're interested in a 'modern' high gain tone, i recommend the insane channel with a a clean boost(10 band eq or equivalent)in the front. There's also something in it that I used that helped sculp the tone as well but the name of the parameter escapes me. I used to have 2 of these .. I ran a Fortin 33 in front and I was able to achieve one of the best tones i've ever been able to produce. The 10 band also produced a very similar tone.. Was crushing through the paired 4x12 cab that it came with.

I've used Marshall valvestate amp's for the past 17 years or so. I recently bought a Line6 spider 2 and recently a spider 4 120w 2x10 Celestion speakers. I mainly play clean surf and clean tremolo. As you say it takes abit of time getting things to sound OK. I can't fault my Line6 amp's and currently looking at buying a used hd100 and cab for gigs

This amp reminds of a the Crate Blue Voodoo and the Marshall JCM900 as far as the mid range voicing. It's kinda hard to get the high frequency sizzle out of it. I could have dialed it back a little more, but I love high gain, and that is kind of my problem lol. Too much gain can kinda ruin things if you aren't careful. The allure to these amps is that Bogner designed the tube circuit, but like alot of Line 6 amplifiers, solid state or otherwise, they are not known for their tone. I haven't played this amplifier too much since I made this video either, I have been considering selling it to build funds for a Marshall DSL100. I am also trying to find an Egnater Vengeance or Armageddon, but those amplifiers are pretty scares on the used market. I have a B-52 AT-100 that is my main "go to" amplifier. Its getting kind of old, but runs really well with all the new internal components I installed last year, but I would like to get something that is geared towards a more modern high gain tone.

I have two Line 6 Spider Valve MKII HD100 heads. With the MKII version, be sure you have the latest firmware installed from Line 6.

Very six feet under sounding! Sic riffs all the way! btw! Love my spider MK2 2 by12 with metal yellow setting and zoom! But just got 5150 lbx 15 stealth and it's brutal!

Thanks! You are right, that is kind of a SFU tone, I didn't realize that. I want the new 5150 iconic. Think it's going to be my next major purchase. I need something a little more modern to add to my amp family.

Try the crunch chanel orange, with the fuzz pi and the maxon overdrive to make it tighter. You can also do it with the blues chanel blue or orange .

Just got a used one. Knob for presets if gone, switch is wonky and yes, the volume change. Probably needs tubes. Otherwise nice amp to play through for sure. The presets are just as playable not as forgiving though.

I have 2 of these... I run 2 full stacks. I just run a rack mount e.q. these amps are awesome. You really don't need to use stomp pedals these amps have great tones. You just have to take the time to learn how to navigate it.

I downloaded the Slipknot preset and tweaked it. I then bought a Pylon and she rips. The pylon cuts the mud low end that it has. Turn the presence and treble down a hair too cut some of the fizz. Great amp if you know what you are doing. Also, Kyle had the original not the mkii. The mkii is much better.
