Very nice comparison! My preference is to the SSL-1s as they have a bit more clarity and a fuller EQ (a little less midrange than the other set). Enjoyed your playing!
One advantage of the SSL 1 is that it gives peace of mind that you picked a reputable sound. Sometimes if you have doubts, you can be comforted that it has a track record of positive feedback
USA Fender pickups are great and in some ways better. But the great advantage of the SSL pickups is that they are so common and so incredibly easy to find which is great in case if your guitar gets stolen.
The stock pickups sound great, they're a little bit darker, but great sounding anyway, no need to change them at all. The difference in brightness can be easily addressed with a small touch on the amps EQ in case you want it. I don't see any improvement in changing pickups in this case
These Fender pickups are apparently a 57/62, a post-1998 model with beveled pole pieces?? The SSL-1 has a slightly louder and bell-like sound. Both are good.
Trust me, the levels on the amp are the same, but the ssl1s are just really powerful “low output“ pickups. I only know this because I built a guitar with the ssl 1 neck and middel and a true grit for bridge, Humbucker, and while it works fine, the ssl1‘s are fighting for power with the bridge pickup that is a Humbucker, I’m now even thinking of getting a hotter pickup that can match the ssl1s. Or at least a more mid output humbucker, something with more balls than the true grit from bareknuckles. I also have other strats and the ssl1s are louder and pushes more. It’s not just the loudness but it’s also a fairly thicker sound compared to that of my other strats.
Thanks for the reply. I mean the audio levels are not the same. If one pickup is louder you need to turn it down in post otherwise the ear will hear the louder signal as better.
@@OneTanMan Ah I see what you mean, but I don’t know if everyone would want that, but I can understand your point. Louder easily comes across as better. But the pickups are also more grainier, I mean it sounds like it won’t take much for them to break up or distort and they are also thicker than the 3 strats I have, but still you have a point though. Also all my strats are the cheaper ones, I don’t have a real Fender strat, so my results will still be different.
Kudos on nailing that Snow Hey Oh Riff! That's a tough one.

Only question it sounds like the SD has a larger output causing more preamp stage distortion.
good comparison! im getting the SSL-1 for my Mexican made strat. it's really going to improve the tone

I've been thinking about noiseless pickups and then I hear something like that!

I agree the eq can be tweak, but the dynamic range and note definition of the sd pickups you can't get simple by changing the eq setting
What is the name of the song at 01'14"? Great job, man!
great playing

Drastic difference between the two… I think the 62 sounds more like the tone artists riffs you played. SSL sounds great but less vintage 😊
yeah but frusciante get on ssl1 sometimes
True

@@OneTanMan Thanks for the conversation
The volume in both examples is exactly the same.
