    My friend had an old bottle of Maxwell house instant coffee from her mother. It was 30 years old and we drank it and there was nothing wrong with it at all. Didn't they stay off or smell stay out or anything? That she did do when she took the cap off 30 years ago. It was always covered with Plastic wrap and put the cover back on. And the bottle is collectable LO. L. So actually instant coffee can last forever as long as you take care of it.

    Please stock up on water, water, water! IBC TOTES are the best way to do this, they coming 275 gallon and 330 gallon volumes; They will easily fit in your garage or outside. Have a water filtration such as a Berkey or the like. Stock up on can goods, defense, and fortification of your home. This is no joke, and no one is coming to help you. Be prepared to take care of your family as it was in the times of old. God bless you and God keep you.

    I recently talked to a group of dairy farmers and asked what would you do in a long term grid down. Dry them up, hope you have a pond or creek on property and a pasture big enough to graze them, and so on. Some said they never gave it much thought until recently. My suggestion was that they might want to get rid of most of them pretty quickly before the hordes come and just take them and get nothing for them and maybe get hurt or killed trying to protect your herd. Learn how to make jerky now. Some even said if it comes down to it to just come over and take one so they don't go to waste. Lucky to have people like that near by. 😅. May the good Lord watch over you and your family and friends. Peace and Love 😊

    Next week, we might get the "chance" of a real-life test. Starting on Jan 8, here in Germany the farmers will start with huge, nationalwide protests against our politics here. And truckers, milk processing companies, some slaughterhouses, also some bakeries etc. already said that at least part of them will join into the protests. We can expect at least one week of severe disruptions, and many blocked roads. I wouldn't wonder if smaller supermarkets will run out of stock then, some smaller shops even might stay closed after the first days. If it really happens like this, quite a lot of people will probably learn why a little bit of prepping is a good idea...

      @@gailoreilly1516 Well, that's ok... Personally, I feel sympathy for the farmers and truckers, and for their protests. The main problem is that "green"-socialist governmental coalition that we currently have. And they won't stop until everything here in the country comes to a grinding halt. We need to get on a political way where politics is made for the citizens, and not for "big capital", and we also don't need some kind of new realism in politics instead of all that ideology.
      Personally, I expect some supply shortages for the rest of the month. But that's not a problem for me, I've got everything here that I might need for at least some weeks, essential foods (and some other goods) should last for two months. The most interesting question for me is what happens with our biogas production facilities which are used to produce biogas for electrical power plants. A lot of those facilities are operated by farmers, too. Electricity from biogas contributes about 5 % of our entire electrical energy, which doesn't sound much, but usually it's a very reliable power source, which is available 24/7 in contrast to solar or wind power. The biogas facilities also do an important job in stabilizing the frequency of the power grid. So it is not unthinkable that the farmers' protests also could affect the availability of our eletrical infrastructure, which appears to be somethink where almost nobody thinks about... But hey, let it happen. Probably it's necessary that some bigger trouble comes up. Personally, I have my backup power source here, so it wouldn't affect me directly. And there is enough backup power available here for 1-2 weeks (at least if I don't waste the limited capacity in the batteries...).

    No one talks about juice that no fridge required and powdered sauce. Even the best before date is at least a year long. They aren’t expensive as well. I use them regularly anyway. Of course you can’t compare them to the 20+ years shelf life items but most emergency situations won’t last that long.

    • @jazzylyn5857
      @jazzylyn5857 10 месяцев назад

      Sardines in the tomato sauce are very palatable. They wouldn't be my go-to, but I'm more than happy to eat them, so I do have a little stock of them cos they're cheaper than most other tinned fish. Mackerel in sunflower oil is really lovely and still under £1, I know sunflower oil is bad, but you can drain it and use it for cooking, so a two-for-one really. I like to keep a mix of several types of tinned fish. They have a really long shelf life, some of mine are 2027 and can add a few years on top of that, so fish fish fish all the way for me.

    Thanks for the info 😁 I try to store everything that would make me a big bowl of chicken vegetable fried rice every day for a year🤪. I think I have over 1000 freeze dried powdered eggs so for.. 🤪 also, I’m a big collector of beans, honey, maple syrup, pasta, oats, and wheat berries. I grow enough berries on my property to make about 100 16 ounce jars of jelly, with raspberries, blackberries, elderberries, boysenberries, strawberries. so I think I’m good there..😂😁

    Hòw long does powdered milk last? I read about a grandmother gave her grand children old powered milk and cocoaand the children died. Also with old beans how can you cook them. I have soaked all night cooked all day hard as rocks

    • @carolyearsley
      @carolyearsley 10 месяцев назад +1

      The milk may have had mold spores or something. It keeps a long time if kept cool and dry. It just may taste a little stale. Old beans cook up nice and soft in an Instant Pot, about thirty to forty minutes on Pressure cook setting. There is a smaller size, too, for those with small families.

    • @lauramanion3131
      @lauramanion3131 10 месяцев назад

      Add a bit of baking soda to the soaking water and to the cooking water - will help soften the beans. With old beans, I would be sure to soak first even if using a pressure cooker. With the work, time and resources, always want to maximize success. Best wishes. 🙏
