Thanks for this mate got a leather one with zetec s stitching (my fiesta is a zetec s facelift) with the same knob as yours, been irritating me that the gaiter falls down so this is a life saver haha
Just wanted to say great video mate! I'm not driving yet my test is in January! But my first car and the one I have now is an 06 fiesta zetec, got some nice black alloys on there a side racing stripe and some other nice little mods, but one thing I always disliked is the look of the gearstick! Especially that wierd ass cone looking thing it sits in 😂. Definitely my next mod, cheers for the help buddy!
Kyle Taundry Thanks very much mate! Good luck with your test I hope it goes your way! And that sounds pretty good man, there's not much done to mine but you have to start somewhere haha. Mines a 2003 Lx so it's not the best model but it does the job haha.
GraniteCityCarguy No problem pal, and thanks me too haha can't wait to get that instructor out the car! Haha. Oh cool man, I love the fiesta great cars for the money and look smart too with a bit of work! You should keep uploading these vids anyway pal found it really helpful, I didn't wanna mess with it yet incase I busted anything but thankfully I found your video!
Cheers mate i appreciate the encouragement! Just wondering what to do next haha! And its the best feeling when you first hop in by yourself mate, fiestas are good cars. Sadly mine wasnt looked after that well by the previous owners but im trying to take care of it. Changed the auxillary belt, done the oil, oil filter and spark plugs. Surprised with the views i got for this vid so i think ill have to do another useful one haha.
Haha definitley mate :) I can imagine I can't wait buddy the time flies though so won't be long! Yeah I got quite lucky to be honest was an ex mechanics car so it's been serviced every year, got a good MOT history etc. But I still make sure I go out in it as much as possible and clean it etc, mainly because I enjoy it though to be honest! Haha :D
Kyle Taundry Ah that's awesome mate, he will of looked after it! Yeah driving is great fun, I like washing the car too but I haven't done it recently cause it's been so cold haha! Just got my mot done and had to get all the brake pipes done but apart from that it's clear with no advisories. Power steering pump needs done though which I tried to do myself but I got stuck on a hard to reach bolt I didn't want to strip so I left it. Is yours the facelift mk6? Wish I had one of those haha
Apologies mate i just saw this! I used the same plastic bezel piece it works fine. The gaiter has 4 slits that hold it onto the plastic circle. Cheers fro the comment! :)
From what i recall the stock gaitor will flop around as its specifically designed to fit the stock gearknob, so i dont think it would work very well. But let me know if you sort something!
GraniteCityCarguy your right mate it doesn't fit haha thanks though, I'll have to buy the new gaiter, also my adapters don't have internal threads is that normal?
Ah okay haha sorry to hear that! Yeah they don't come with internal threads so you just have to put it on and it'll create its own thread, cause they are plastic it's no bother :)
Sorry mate you actually haven't shown how to actually change the actual gaitor like fully? Like how did you get the new gaitor on to the plastic ring and stuff
YooJOBeCoOL sorry buddy it was a two handed job hahaha. The gaiter should have 4 slits in it at the bottom that fit the 4 clip points for the plastic ring. You put the clips through the slits and then click the ring into place so it holds the gaiter down. Hope that helps?
At the very start of the vid you can see that I have done that, once it's like that all you do is pull it over the gear stick and click in place. It also helps if you tuck the gaiter into the rim on the under side of the ring
YooJOBeCoOL I got the same one and it didn’t have the skits so I just made sure it was covering the holes in the centre console and forced the plastic put in and it worked
I've purchased the same Gear Knob with the Adapters, but it doesn't really tighten to the point where you can spin no further. Is that how it's meant to be?
Naeem Muktar Hi bud, I'm afraid to say I realised the same thing after I had put this video up. I have switched back to the regular gear knob but kept the gaitor on which fits nicely.
GraniteCityCarguy Thanks for the quick reply mate. I'll use it for now but if it keeps moving around I might have to purchase the official Richbrook one.
i'm thinking of getting the exact same gaiter and knob of Amazon, actually looks better than the cheap sh*t that comes standard on the mk6 fiesta. off topic though, do you or anybody reading the comments know where the speed sensor is located on a mk6 fiesta flame 1.4i duratec? my speedo stopped working the day same day the car passed its MOT with flying colours (no bad for a £120 car) after looking online, most forums point to the speed sensor but i can't see it anywhere under the bonnet so any help would be much appreciated
Yeah it looks a lot better but I will warn you that the gaiter doesn't sit flush when you move the gearstick through the gears. I found this out after the video haha, and the knob can get loose which is a pain. And I imagine that the speed sensor would be located around the flywheel somewhere since that runs at the engine speed, so it probably pokes out somewhere around the larger side of the gearbox where the clutch and flywheel would meet. But that's just me guessing! If you haven't already I would join the mk6 fiesta owners page on Facebook, lots of good friendly people on there who have lots of knowledge!
Darren McGrogan Did a quick bit of research buddy and apparently depending on the year of your car the speed is either taken from ( as I guessed ) a speed sensor mounted on the bell housing of the gearbox or for later fiesta models the speed is taken by the ABS unit. Either way it sounds like a hefty job but people have done it themselves by the sounds of it.
GraniteCityCarguy it's a 2004 54' plate mines is. thanks for quick reply mate, once the rain stops here in Edinburgh, it'll get it the air and see if i can spot it 👍 thanks again
Hi, do you know what the thread on the gearstick is? I know it's M10 but I haven't got round to trying to measure the pitch. The gearknob I'm getting doesn't come with adaptors so I need to be sure. Many thanks :)
John CF Hey buddy, I haven't measured it myself as I don't know how to go about it but I did have a quick read on a mk6 fiesta st forum and a guy measured his claiming it was M12x1.25. I hope that helps! If I was you I'd check some forums out as I don't want to give you a definitive answer and end up having you order the wrong one!
John CF Hey man I just had a look but I can't find it in my eBay history, I ordered mine ages ago! I can tell you mine was from eBay though. Ah that's cool man I'll note that down incase I get a new one!
Silly me, I thought this was for a gearstick replacement for some reason. Turns out it was just for the gearknob. Any chance you'd change the title pal?
That stock cover is absolutely disgusting! Main turn off point for the car for me along with the seats. I know it’s a 2007 car right but could they not have just made the seats plain instead of a chav kind of pattern which is really unnecessary. Also the rubber cover looks like inside out foreskin. I like the knob you put on tho it’s nice
Kieran 17 This ones a 2003 mate so probably explains the shocking seats haha. Cheers I appreciate it mate, that cars gone now and I've got a Civic Sport Ep2 1.6. Was considering making some vids.
Thanks for this mate got a leather one with zetec s stitching (my fiesta is a zetec s facelift) with the same knob as yours, been irritating me that the gaiter falls down so this is a life saver haha
Josh Grundon no bother mate! Happy the vid helped out!
How did you attach the leather gaiter to the circle bit that clips into the car
Do you have a link so I can get this for myself?

Nice little video if u still have this car can do a update video of it either all mods please
hey mate, send me a link to the cover and shifter, nice set up 💯
Do you have a link for the gear stick knob
No sorry mate it was a few years ago off eBay, worth searching the thread size on eBay with gear knob and see what comes up.
Great video iv got the same as you
Anyone know what thread pitch I need for a gear knob for a 2004 mk6 fiesta? Cheers
It's universal
Did the leather come without pre made holes for tabs? As mines got no holes, did you cut them?
Mine had pre cut holes luckily!
Same gear lever gaiter bezel ( plastic circle) or special for the leather part?? It looks nice!
Apologies mate i just saw this! I used the same plastic bezel piece it works fine. The gaiter has 4 slits that hold it onto the plastic circle. Cheers fro the comment! :)
Hi mate is it possible to use the stock, rubber gaiter with that knob? As I've just ordered it
From what i recall the stock gaitor will flop around as its specifically designed to fit the stock gearknob, so i dont think it would work very well. But let me know if you sort something!

Naeem Muktar No worries at all man. Yeah that's probably best as this problem only gets worse... sorry about that bud!
Wrap plumber PTFE tape around the threads on the gear stick - it will make any thread a nice tight fit (just put a enough on)
where did you get knob? Is it universal form ebay, or ford type with m12x1.25 thread?
RepsolRC211V I bought it off eBay, it comes with 3 plastic adapters. One of which fits the thread for the fiesta!
i'm thinking of getting the exact same gaiter and knob of Amazon, actually looks better than the cheap sh*t that comes standard on the mk6 fiesta. off topic though, do you or anybody reading the comments know where the speed sensor is located on a mk6 fiesta flame 1.4i duratec? my speedo stopped working the day same day the car passed its MOT with flying colours (no bad for a £120 car) after looking online, most forums point to the speed sensor but i can't see it anywhere under the bonnet so any help would be much appreciated

Nice gear knob

Thanks man, I measured it and mine is M10x1.25. Another quick question, is this the gaiter by 'the tuning shop ltd' on amazon & ebay?
John CF Hey man I just had a look but I can't find it in my eBay history, I ordered mine ages ago! I can tell you mine was from eBay though. Ah that's cool man I'll note that down incase I get a new one!
No worries, I've ordered it anyway! Thanks for answering.
John CF No problem bro, sorry I couldn't be more helpful!
Silly me, I thought this was for a gearstick replacement for some reason. Turns out it was just for the gearknob. Any chance you'd change the title pal?
Done 👌
Well played sir.
Nice MightCarMods keyring :P
Jak Lawrence cheers man haha
