+Артём Мелик-Шахназаров Landing pads are really fucking finicky though, they break easily and one landing pad staying off when it should be on, or staying activated when it should be off could do catastrophic damage if the mech is in motion, the least of which is probably tearing the limb off as it moves against the entirety of the Scarab.
+Cobus Le roux Okay lets put it this way. Imagine your hand is the landing gear. Place your hand on a flat surface and try to twist your lower arm as if it were one of the legs of the scarab. Having it locked in that position would snap the leg off entirely or just not move the mech. Sounds good but sadly it wouldn't work. If they bring out a part the latches on but allows free rotation, it would work.
Ryan Hudson The turret is a separate craft controlled by a remote control block and moves around using a gyroscope. Also it's attached to the walker using loose rotors.
Ryan Hudson You can put a small rotor and build a "turret" from small ship blocks with only gyroscopes and then cut the bottom part of the rotor, keep the top part attached! Then put a large rotor where you want to stick the turret on and cut the top part of it off, stick small rotor top part on large rotor bottom part and they should attach. I forget if you need to use the landing gear button to get them to connect or if they do it by themselves, but I'm sure you can figure it out by trying. Have fun!
ScarletFlames1 I know what you're getting at, but this walker is a small ship. The turret is just attached on via normal rotors and none of the large-small rotor trickery. Also it's much easier to make the turret on top of a small ship connector then dock that on the top of a large ship using a large connector.
oook i want what ever voodoo he uses cause every time i try to design somthing like that ... well ... it jiggles and wiggles and spins and... blows up in my face
+ealtar My thoughts too :( I have so many grand ideas along the lines of these sort of creations but they always spin out of control. Works well enough when locked to the ground... >_>
I have already shown how Cockroach moves on rough terrain without invulnerability. And enough to compare all the walkers with Scarab, which is essentially just a CGI. My hexapod is animatronic model and is based on real-life "toys".
that walker is badass you should paint it a bright coloir to make it better, and as far as i could see it didint have any mods. probably the coolest thing on the workshop so far
Coolest thing I've seen in space engineers yet. Although it looks as if it uses modded parts, but it just works so well and looks so cool at the same time, and the weapons are just an added bonus!
Imagine when they add planets and there's a base there, You could have like 4 or 2 of these and drop some from space, And modify them so they slow them selfs down with thrusters, The battle would be crazy down there. then you could deploy the troop drop ships and have lasers flying every where.... (I hope they add lasers) That battle would be amazing and this game has the potential to do that
block wolf And that's why my bases are underground and the surface structures are decoys which gives the element of surprise to my gunships which come down and blow the legs off your walkers
+block wolf These things would be so weak in battle. Rotors and pistons are it's only real methods of propulsion and only a few missile hits in the right places would disabled it. It looks absolutely awesome, but ultimately no real combat application. Of course, I'd just like to see the standard piston/rotor explosion the current MP netcode causes as it is :D
DLORD 3000 Just means more fun for my gunships, anyways thats the reason why I have large amounts of very large Anti Ship Batteries so hit then enemy fleet and keep them distracted.
The turret isn't exposed to anything. Except any small craft with a lot of gyroscopes landing on it and just pointing it towards the walker's allies (and possibly ripping it off in the process.)
Le Derp Français That would be the best thing ever, to watch a small craft land on and hijack the Main Cannon on that thing, somehow be able to redirect its fire, and once they get found out attempt to rip it off.
Le Derp Français There's a very important rule a tank crew should follow by. Never over extend past the reach of your support, infantry or otherwise. That's not exactly how it goes but it covers it. As powerful as a tank is, or this walker could potentially be, it's easy to get swamped when you don't have anyone watching your back. Or sides. Or top.
Trices Mailwind This is obviously a showcase, and just having the surface covered with weaponry doesn't look nice. But if you were to atually put some proper turrets on that walker, the AI could take care of most enemies. Also with speed like this, the infantry/support follow this thing, not the other way 'round. xD
Chris Pearson Well, I managed to land my ship on it, and with enough gyroscopes I could pull the turret upwards towards the sky, exposing the timer blocks under it. So if you had an ally with you that would be a pretty effective way to disarm the turret.
your muscles don't push - they either contract or relax once a contracted muscle in your arm relaxes, the muscle that executes the opposite movement contracts, and thus the movement is executed. muscles operate on a tension basis of sorts.
this looks soo awesome..... i havent play space engineers in a while so all these new updates look pretty cool. I really want to start playing again but i tried today and i was completely lost XD i couldnt even figure out how to use my drill because I forgot how to :P
I could imagine these being used when assaulting a titan ship, by bringing these in on drop ships with gravity locks on the legs to latch onto the ship, along with a troop carrier built into the bottom. It would be cool if someone acted out a battle like that.
My suspicious mind thinks this is not SE, but some sort of lookalike, that walker should have torn its self to bits and be followed by tiny explosions.
How did he made this "hand-made" turrets to rotate with mouse so smooth? I tried to make something like this with help of gyros but it was total crap and at the end just broke and flew away as always...
I hope that he makes a modular version of this or you modify it so it can switch between a battle claw tank thing to a mobile transport or a mining rig or even have hover thruster module to make it hover over bumpy terrain.
Reminds me of my crappy atempt to build a two legged walker. When I finally get it to work properly in an artifical gravity field I tried it in 1G natural gravity (Mod) and it instantly fell on it's back unable to stand up again -.-
i would love to see some damage testing on this... like if one of the legs gets blown up... some pvp in these would be so great... 1v1 on a bit of bumby terrain...
Hey LSG, I just started Space Engineers and wanted to know what are the most important things to remember and do? I hardly know how to build ships let alone pistons XD
get rid of half the rockets to make the turret more gatling gun based and you get an infantry/light vehicle killer which would be what this is an infantry support vehicle as this thing is not going to do much against any heavy vehicles might as well commit completely the shock value alone works quite well
Muscles never push; that's why they come in pairs. One pulls and the other relaxes.
Science-Recon I was about to say that
The walking isn't extremely smooth, but that is definitely a marvel of space engineering.
Cobus Le roux It would be better if there were landing pads that turned on and off.
Артём Мелик-Шахназаров That's not a half bad idea, the creator should look into it some time.

***** What about a rotor, put the friction to 0 and have at thee? Wouldn't that work?
Holy crap, it's so... graceful.
did I miss the memo about the modding stuff? how does the turret move like that?
Ryan Hudson The turret is a separate craft controlled by a remote control block and moves around using a gyroscope. Also it's attached to the walker using loose rotors.

AllTimeNooB Indeed It is almost like the Halo scarab.
It's a scarab nuff said.
best walker so far in spece engineers! i wan to see a Battle with them,
who doesnt want to see that???
I'd assume a fight would be quite quick if someone just took out the enemy legs.
to make it more interresting, the enemy has to board his enemy and take out the ships core as well as kill the player :D
Um trying to shoot off the legs is stupid you would be only slowing it down it has 2 massive cannons
+TiTanAEfull so like the scarab in halo
Jason Burns
good comparison
Love to see two of these battle each other, even a 1v1v1 free for all
need to have a battle with sage and the crew in these things. would love to see how the movement is effected when they start to get damaged
This thing is absolutely beautifull! Best walking creation i've seen so far within the Space Engineers community!
This is amazing and the Devs need to add more parts to help support this level of creativity.
It reminds me alot of the Scarab from the Halo series.
Its people like this we need in an army
TW Rock I believe there are, they're called combat engineers :3
Yeah best recource you can have at your disposal
+TW Rock it is said that an engineer's job it to solve problems an combat engineer's only problem is you living
+TW Rock
There was a quadrupedal robot for the army already.
That is absolutely amazing! I've never seen anything like it in all my history of space engineers. AMAZING JOB!
I think this is definitely in the top 10 mechanical marvels of space engineers.
oook i want what ever voodoo he uses cause every time i try to design somthing like that ... well ...
it jiggles and wiggles
and spins and... blows up in my face
Lmao. My creations in a nutshell
***** if my creations was in a nut shell they'd have less probability of being destroyed by rotors and pistons
+ealtar that made me laugh so much :D
+ealtar My thoughts too :( I have so many grand ideas along the lines of these sort of creations but they always spin out of control. Works well enough when locked to the ground... >_>
+ealtar
Sounds like your sex life.
So far the best design I've seen in Space Engineers :D
This, this is amazing! It deserved it's top mention on the Steam workshop! Well done to the creator!!! :D
The guy must be a mechanical engineer
I would say industrial
I would say a genius or slightly lower
evan shankar lol
+evan shankar Play enough SE and you get a degree in an applied science.
I have already shown how Cockroach moves on rough terrain without invulnerability. And enough to compare all the walkers with Scarab, which is essentially just a CGI. My hexapod is animatronic model and is based on real-life "toys".
Very well designed and well thought out. It a superb piece of engineering. Image what you could do with a fleet of walkers in planet ground battle.
that walker is badass you should paint it a bright coloir to make it better, and as far as i could see it didint have any mods. probably the coolest thing on the workshop so far
O M G
This is best thing I ever seen in Space Engineers!!
if this guy isn't already a professional engineer, he definitely has a future as one!
Most impressive build I've seen so far. Holy moly :-O
That is some incredible metal muscle right there...
Whoever made this is smart an really knows his piston mechanics
Nice, that's a whole lot of work.
Wow! That guy did an amazing job! :D
Coolest thing I've seen in space engineers yet. Although it looks as if it uses modded parts, but it just works so well and looks so cool at the same time, and the weapons are just an added bonus!
Lance Armada it only uses 1 block adding mod which is "Maglock Surface MKll" the other is "enhanced gravity generators"
Wouldn't that mean it uses two block adding mods? Regardless, that's not bad!
no, enhanced gravity generators just allows you to modify the existing ones to act on ships as well.
Imagine when they add planets and there's a base there, You could have like 4 or 2 of these and drop some from space, And modify them so they slow them selfs down with thrusters, The battle would be crazy down there. then you could deploy the troop drop ships and have lasers flying every where.... block wolf With downed ships smashing into the ground.
block wolf And that's why my bases are underground and the surface structures are decoys which gives the element of surprise to my gunships which come down and blow the legs off your walkers
block wolf Imagine an entire fleet of capitol ships warping in and starting to deploy these on your base
+block wolf These things would be so weak in battle. Rotors and pistons are it's only real methods of propulsion and only a few missile hits in the right places would disabled it. It looks absolutely awesome, but ultimately no real combat application.

this is pretty much what i was looking for exactly. thank you
I'm surprised that this thing doesn't shred itself. Space engineers physics sim has come a very long way.
hats off to the guy who made it!
This guy could practically make a scarab from Halo! Such an amazing creation.
That's awesome!
In my game stuff like this just explode in glitchy piston hell
Unreal. The patience one must have.
holy shit ive seen some impressive walkers in space engineers but this is easily the best its lightning quick for a walker
The turret isn't exposed to anything. Except any small craft with a lot of gyroscopes landing on it and just pointing it towards the walker's allies (and possibly ripping it off in the process.)

Le Derp Français Yea, you got a point. xD
This thing is seriously amazing!!
This is proper sick. Knowledge is power
Those pistons not only make it faster but much stronger as well. this technology could be used to improve turrets and other mounts on things
Man need to see a few of these battling each other.
A wonderful creation. It reminds me of the scarab from Halo.
The fact is that it works, and it works well. In fact it actually works better than most SE cars.
The spotlight on the gun reminds me of anti-air guns in WW2, so cool.
Jaw-dropping. INSANE.
"We have intelligence, we have a sense of purpose, we have the element of surprise, what does [he] have?"
...
"He has an 80 foot tarantula"
your muscles don't push - they either contract or relax
once a contracted muscle in your arm relaxes, the muscle that executes the opposite movement contracts, and thus the movement is executed.
muscles operate on a tension basis of sorts.
going to be amazing for planets
Weapon to surpass metal gear
im so hyped for MGSV
ThePronFolder ah yes games made from slave labor
nineballmk2 no.
+Niño Rata He talks about Konami. So, yeah, he is right.
+Александр Пушкин "eXtro gear was designed to launch a new kind of programmable block warhead wasn't it?!"
Love to see something like this as a mobile base for planets since wheels break off to easily. :)
IT'S A SCARAB!!!!
Have a fight with Sage, Scott, and Contraban on teams vs each other on those things!
and it does look a bit like a scarab although they had a more smooth and open design as well as only 4 legs
I just had the best nerdgasm I've ever had in my life.
this looks soo awesome..... i havent play space engineers in a while so all these new updates look pretty cool. I really want to start playing again but i tried today and i was completely lost XD i couldnt even figure out how to use my drill because I forgot how to :P
This is absolutely amazing!
i would love to see how creations like this function under some damage
blow off one of the legs while its walking and see how it handles it!
Can it climb or at least manage inclines?
I could imagine these being used when assaulting a titan ship, by bringing these in on drop ships with gravity locks on the legs to latch onto the ship, along with a troop carrier built into the bottom. It would be cool if someone acted out a battle like that.
My suspicious mind thinks this is not SE, but some sort of lookalike, that walker should have torn its self to bits and be followed by tiny explosions.
Holy... This is awesome!
How the heck did he get the rotors so stable? i cant even put a gatling gun on my car without the rotor snapping of when i break to fast!
You should make a huge ship that this thing can dock onto. That'd be so cool.
Could you act out battles with unique ships or stations, and either make them in cinematic modes or just a normal battle.
I'd like to see a firing range setup so we can see how effective this thing is on the move. Also, Muscles don't push, they only pull.
How did he made this "hand-made" turrets to rotate with mouse so smooth? I tried to make something like this with help of gyros but it was total crap and at the end just broke and flew away as always...
I saw this on the workshop before the video was uploaded :D
Now i want see Republic Weapons/walkers from Star Wars build in this design =)
You should test this again... but on a planet!
I hope that he makes a modular version of this or you modify it so it can switch between a battle claw tank thing to a mobile transport or a mining rig or even have hover thruster module to make it hover over bumpy terrain.
i am thinking now about this with an added joint on the fron with an drillhat eating itselft through the landscape
Extro is a great builder.
How well does it move over hills and rough terrain?
Imagine attacking a station on a planet with this thing :D
Ok so i want to make the ASP from BO III, any tutorial on how to make a walker with 4 legs?
Reminds me of my crappy atempt to build a two legged walker. When I finally get it to work properly in an artifical gravity field I tried it in 1G natural gravity (Mod) and it instantly fell on it's back unable to stand up again -.-
But it's very vulnerable around the joints, one good aimed shot into it and it could screw it up, and eventually the leg will rip itself off
I imagine that this would be a result of the UNSC trying to recreate a Scarab.
Can it walk over cliffs and up cliffs or just flat ground?
thats....beautiful *-*
pretty awesome!
its a very very cool!! such a complex mechanism, how did you do it?))
I am curious. Can we make a jumping mech. Like a design like a flee or a locust.
Mind blown..........
The T-800 Roach reminds me a lot of the scarab tank from the Halo series. Perhaps it served as inspiration for the creator?
I think we need to see this on a planet
I want you to test it against some fighters or tanks.
I'm guessing it can't go over high hills or mountains because you didn't show any footage of that... or can it?
I thought this was Omega from final fantasy from the thumbnail, cool design :p
I wish someone would make a tutorial on how to make a walker or how to use rotors in a simple way
good..good good... NOW BATTLE!!!!
Just.... WOW.
i would love to see some damage testing on this... like if one of the legs gets blown up... some pvp in these would be so great... 1v1 on a bit of bumby terrain...
Hey LSG, I just started Space Engineers and wanted to know what are the most important things to remember and do? I hardly know how to build ships let alone pistons XD
i have a question? can you mount a shield generator on this for protection...
how about a contest you know last man standing?
get rid of half the rockets to make the turret more gatling gun based and you get an infantry/light vehicle killer which would be what this is
an infantry support vehicle as this thing is not going to do much against any heavy vehicles might as well commit completely
the shock value alone works quite well
Now that theres planets, you need to re test this vehicle to see how the more realistic gravity effects it.
i tried to use this and it would either dig itself into a trench or just not walk nearly as well in the video
hmmm ideas for transforming/expanding ships
Amazing.
