The Nokia N900 had an actual mouse mode and it was one of the best features of that browser. Nice to see the Note using that feature in their hover mode.
I don't have enough money to spend around $870 on a phone. The note 4 n note 7 could probly do the same thing(except the note 7 is edge) and I got the note 4 for $350 new and it still good after 2 years of release

I totally agree with you! :-) I think the Note1 has more of a slick business identity, which if you are a professional can matter to the impression you give. The new Lumia has lots going for it, but for a Lawyer to go to a buisness meeting with a bright red or yellow phone, with different squares moving all the time would seem as if they'd raided their kid's toy box! However, Note2 like you said has some cool features under the bonnet, like the S3..... I'm envious for that.
This will most definitely be my next phone. I was going to get the Galaxy Note one but I will wait. I love all the new S pen capabilities. This phone in my opinion, blows the iPhone 5 out of the water!

Yes. I have a Note 2 and it finally has an LED notification light. It changes color from red, green, and blue. I don't recall seeing other colors besides those.
You should educate yourself. I own a Note II. There isn't one button. There's the main physical home button in the center, and to the left and right of it, there are capacitive buttons... one for the MENU and the other is the BACK button, which also serves as a shortcut to the vaunted multi-window feature. Samsung did an extremely good job of hiding them when they are not illuminated.
I recently bought the Note 1. For My needs, the Note 2 didn't make an overwhelming case to upgrade. I admit the Note 2 has many improvements, and is arguably the best phone available. However 1) an unlocked Note 2 costs $749 at least. I paid $460 for an unlocked Note 1. 2) Some of the "popup" functions can be added to the Note 1 thru 3rd-party apps. 3) I am not a heavy gamer. Quad core doesn't help browse text-heavy sites or read FB that much better lol. Note 2 IS better, Note 1 is just fine.
I had a Palm treo 680 and loved it.. Went to the iphone4 and it was okay.. As soon as the Note came out I bought it and put the iphone 4 in the drawer.. Can't wait to see the new note up and personal.
Very good video. And the point about the Note 1 feeling like a prototype experiment model, after looking at the video I would tend to agree. I love my note 1 but this newer version runs circles around it. Can't wait for this thing.
I was contemplating trying to get a good deal on a Galaxy Note after the Note 2 comes out, but that S-pen hover on a web hover menu has me seriously reconsidering paying more and going with the Note 2.
I'm glad the Note 2 isn't Pentile. It's great that this phone will ship with Jelly Bean. Samsung really putting a lot in the Note 2 to rival the iPhone 5. I have heard rumours Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy S4 late February next year at Mobile World Congress.

I figured a workaround with the hovering on the menu thing. You just hold your finger on it until it is highlighted then drag your finger elsewhere immediately so there won't be a pop-up of the options.
It looks amazing and I am definitely going to get one. I am currently using a blackberry Storm but I am drawn to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I only wish it was here now. I am impatient...lol. Good job on the presentation. Thanks for sharing.

That's your preference. I just upgraded to the Note II from my Note I. I think I made a tremendously good decision. The Note II seems to be the Note I... perfected. Meaning there were a lot of little things missing from the Note I that should have been there. The Note II adds those things a so much more. I am extremely happy with my upgrade. But the Note I is no sloucher and the eventual upgrade to Jelly Bean will make it similar to the Note II.

I've had the Samsung Note going on a couple of months now and it is just simply awesome. I am thinking about the Note 2 but I really don't want anything bigger than the what I have.. it took me some time just to get used to it. :) We'll see but Samsung.. stop making this bigger.. it's big enough for a phone. Its so much better when the phone has enough RAM to feed the Android beast. I remember my first "high end" android phone which was the Droid X with a measly 512mb of RAM. It was blatantly obvious that this amount of RAM even in 2010 was absolutely choking the OS. Anything less than 2gb is not acceptable in a high end smartphone. You need it to have a smooth experience.
No, not to my knowledge. The Note 2 has an upgraded S-Pen from the Note 1. I believe the sensor is entirely different on it which is what allows the hover feature.
Really like all the features of this phone. I currently use a Panasonic ToughBook with Stylus Pen and feel this will incline me to use the S Pen more. I really plan on forcing myself to explore and make full use of its capabilities. The size will be rewarding for my aging eyes coming from the iPhone 4S. I actually feel the shape will make it sit in the hand better than the original Notes more squared off corners. Finding a leather belt holster like I have for my iPhone 4S could be challenging!
I have the Original Galaxy Note and have it on a fantastic value plan i shall be sticking with that untill my upgrade the Note is still great after a year ;)
Come on Samsung, some of the Note 2 features are working right now on the "Old" Note: Resizable popup video appears in XXLRQ Firmware, also new gallery and touchwiz UX. Hover S-Pen works on Note 1 too, just enter to your favorite web browser, type google, and hover your pen on Images, Places, News etc Tabs, you will see that Google recognizes your S-Pen like a mouse. Side by side I still prefer the appearance of the Note 1. The Note 2 has that curvy-round design based on the Galaxy S3, which I'm also not a fan of (aesthetically). I hate phone contracts so I'll no doubt be buying an unlocked handset, and for the not-particularly-huge difference in specs between the Note 1 and 2 (dual core 1.4 vs quad 1.6, 1GB of RAM vs 2GB, 5.3" vs 5.5" but near enough same res.), I PERSONALLY don't think the 2 is worth double the price (£280 vs ~£500)
I'm planning on buying this off contract to replace my aging phone and tablet. I have found I like to have a bigger screen of the tablet but obviously need a phone ad well. I can buy this as a dual purpose device and use it all day for everything I need especially when it wouldn't be convenient to get my laptop out. Replaceable batteries and expandable storage sold me on it as well.
Exynos 4 technology from Samsung can only power a 1366x768 resolution at max. The Exynos 4 processors consist of various processors, but they all have the 1366x769 resolution max output. Thats why the Exynos 5 range can power up to 2560x1600, double that of the original. Core count does not matter in these circumstances in comes down to the processors design.

The home button on the Note II has FOUR (4) associated functions: it can awake the phone from sleep; it can be used to take you back to the home screen; if you long-press it, it will bring up a list of several of your most recent apps; if you double tap it, it activates S Voice... the Samsung version of Siri. It is much more functional than the row of capacitive buttons on the Note I, and I love it.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a quad-core 1.6GHz Exynos CPU with 2GB of RAM running on Jelly Bean Android 4.1. This is a pretty big step up from the original Note, which had a 1.4GHz dual-core Exynos CPU with 1GB of RAM.

Because the US cell providers makes their own versions of the phones. That one is international(European). The same goes for the SGS2. That one too have a physical homebutton on the international version, but not on the US version.
Just reading through the comments, I saw that someone said that S-pen hovering worked in the web browser on the Note 1. If this is true, then I may be back to my original way of thinking.

i got the note 2 because the ip 5 has reached my country (Malaysia). I am very grateful to Apple because I finally found a phone much better than the iphone. I still can't believe the battery life on this thing!

I agree. HTC and their quality control is kinda sad.. hehe and I also considered among the three: HTC One X, Samsung GS3, or the LG Optimus 4XHD. I got the GS3 and i'm extremely happy I made the decision. I'm in love with the GS3!
They reduced the Resolution because Samsung wanted a bigger display that was 16:9 and the Exynos 4212 Processor in the GALAXY Note II cannot power a display over 1280x800. They went with 1280x720 because it is the perfect HD 16:9 aspect ratio.
the only reason note 2 looks a bigger version of s3 because they had to narrow it down to fit in the hands of more people, if you narrow the width of original note it will look like s2 :) , and i like note 2 much more than the original one

The samsung galaxy note 2 looks like a real awesome phone, despite the size of it. In my opinion I looks the slightest bit better than the s3, I may get the galaxy note 2 as I am sort of a phone geek!, and now I have experienced IOS and ANDROID, I would say android is better because there are simply more options for everything whether its gaming, applications etc.. Watching this video I am in a way, amazed by the looks, quality and the rest of it, with the samsung galaxy note 2
There is diversity in hardware, it's just minimal. The difference in power between a Galaxy Note II and an iPhone 5 is immense, the massive leap in power from weaker iProducts to more powerful Android products makes up for the fact that Android devices generally aren't optimized to fit the OS like a glove. Also, Apple products don't have real multitasking, that's why they can handle having so little RAM. They really cut corners with their OS while Android is way more full-featured.
Nope, Galaxy Note will have hover too, it's software feature that'll be introduced in Jelly Bean update, together with Multi Window and other software capabilities of Note II

samsung galaxy note is really cool smartphone.It´s not too big for pocket. Writing on it is easy. The "pen" comes for phone itself. I lov ethat phone

Because the US cell providers makes their own versions of the phones. That one is international(European). The same goes for the SGS2. That one too have a physical homebutton on the international version, but not on the US version.

Just reading through the comments, I saw that someone said that S-pen hovering worked in the web browser on the Note 1. If this is true, then I may be back to my original way of thinking.
I will sign my name on a two year contract just because of this phone. I am so glad Samsung improved their display and got rid of pentile on this phone!!!! Yay Samsung!!!!
instead of putting enormous s-pen inside the phone they could use that free space to increase battery capacity or make the phone smaller
i got the note 2 because the ip 5 has reached my country (Malaysia). I am very grateful to Apple because I finally found a phone much better than the iphone. I still can't believe the battery life on this thing!

I agree. HTC and their quality control is kinda sad.. hehe and I also considered among the three: HTC One X, Samsung GS3, or the LG Optimus 4XHD. I got the GS3 and i'm extremely happy I made the decision. I'm in love with the GS3!
They reduced the Resolution because Samsung wanted a bigger display that was 16:9 and the Exynos 4212 Processor in the GALAXY Note II cannot power a display over 1280x800. They went with 1280x720 because it is the perfect HD 16:9 aspect ratio.
This is definitely the phone to get, I cannot wait to get it when it comes out!
the only reason note 2 looks a bigger version of s3 because they had to narrow it down to fit in the hands of more people, if you narrow the width of original note it will look like s2 :) , and i like note 2 much more than the original one
i have the note 2 and its by far the best phone that i have ever had, and ive had everything like the iphone4, galaxy nexus, lg viper, htc evo 4g lte. but this phone blows them out of the water

Screen res may be a little disappointing but functionality is cutting edge and out of the box

The samsung galaxy note 2 looks like a real awesome phone, despite the size of it. In my opinion I looks the slightest bit better than the s3, I may get the galaxy note 2 as I am sort of a phone geek!, and now I have experienced IOS and ANDROID, I would say android is better because there are simply more options for everything whether its gaming, applications etc.. Watching this video I am in a way, amazed by the looks, quality and the rest of it, with the samsung galaxy note 2
There is diversity in hardware, it's just minimal. The difference in power between a Galaxy Note II and an iPhone 5 is immense, the massive leap in power from weaker iProducts to more powerful Android products makes up for the fact that Android devices generally aren't optimized to fit the OS like a glove. Also, Apple products don't have real multitasking, that's why they can handle having so little RAM. They really cut corners with their OS while Android is way more full-featured.
Nope, Galaxy Note will have hover too, it's software feature that'll be introduced in Jelly Bean update, together with Multi Window and other software capabilities of Note II
