    It's because of this video that I decided to become a vegetarian back in 2018. Two years on, I have absolutely no regrets.
    Thank-you Acharya Ji for convincing me to make a serious change to my life. I feel more energised and alert. I wake up every day before sunrise and I give thanks to God.

    Thanks for your comment. You're quite correct that under the present anti-life system, the farmer will use any excuse available to kill cows and calves. However, under a Natural Law system, in which the calf is not artificially killed, there is no natural death involved in milk production. This is why we need to begin to follow Dharma (the Natural Way) again. Dharma is the most natural and pro-life system in existence. Aum Shanti.

    This brilliant talk. Crystal clear explanation and examples. In fact even before seeing this video, I changed to veg by the suggestion made by this guruji. Stop red meat, then poultry, then sea foods and then egg. Even dairy products just minimum. The key... if we keep essential things to minimum and forget non essential things... it would be good start.

    A well-balanced vegetarian diet that avoids the consumption of meat coupled with intake of legumes, whole grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables, along with a source of vitamin B12, will promote vigorous health.

      the lack of b12 these days is from the sterile way that we buy our veggies. traces of soil from hand washed homegrown veggies will provide normal levels of b12 to vegans. also, there are natural foods, including mushrooms, spirulina, nori, tempeh, kombucha, nutritional yeast and barley grass - all have b12 and commonly are eaten by educated long-term vegans. just because these may not be foods found in the SADdiet popular in the west, or in india for that matter, doesnt mean they are not natural or found in nature. india used to have a culture of harmonius relationship with cows. this unfortunately is barely at all the case these days. you will have to go very far out of the cities to find any ahimsa dairy in india.

    That is beautifully stated; thank you. If what you say is true (and it is), then we as a country are failing miserably as human beings. Greatness of spirit is manifest by one's not using the power one has, and may even have a right to use; that is, by renunciation. This is a dimension of humility, which itself indispensable to the spiritual life.

    A vegetarian diet lowers the risk of heart disease. According to a peer-reviewed 1999 study of 76,000 people, vegetarians had 24% lower mortality from heart disease than meat eaters. A vegetarian diet also helps lower blood pressure, prevent hypertension, and thus reduce the risk of stroke.

    Namaste. Having watched this video, I am facing a problem that needs to be solved if my spiritual development is to continue. I have grown up in a very meat-centered nation and for all of my life, everyone around me from all my relatives to biology teachers and almost all the doctors in my country have claimed that it is very unhealthy NOT to eat meat. I really have believed for all of my 19 years that this was the truth and even though I also saw the spiritual, ethical and environmental arguments for not eating meat, I thought that we humans must eat meat in order to live a healthy life and not be deficient in any nutrients.
    And now, the person who I have accepted as my spiritual leader, the person who is the only source of pure and unadulterated Truth I know, tells me the exact opposite, that consuming only plants and dairy is more healthy than also eating meat, poultry and even eggs. I am facing a complete paradox and the cognitive dissonance is so strong it can almost be felt as physical pain. I do not know what to do, I truly and wholeheartedly wish to do the ethical thing but also not put my health to danger while doing that, otherwise I cannot contribute to saving the Earth. On the one hand, I probably simply need to research this more, but on the other hand, I now realise the fact that there are people like Sri Acharyaji who have been vegetarians since their childhood or teenage years, some even have never eaten meat in their whole life and yet they are perfectly healthy people, which in itself already proves that consuming meat is not necessary. So it appears that maybe it is more difficult for vegetarians to get all their necessary nutrients such as protein and vitamins, but it is possible.
    Thank you for another great video! In a couple of days, I will have watched all your videos here. I cannot express how truly grateful I am for your work. I hope that one day I will have the blessing to be the disciple of Sri Acharyaji.

      Greetings, Haraldr Haukaniðr. Thank you very much for your sincere and heartfelt message. Hopefully others who find themselves in the same dilemma will also take heart in the following.
      It is quite true that there has been a tremendous amount of propaganda for many generations now in which the claim is made that a person cannot be healthy while abstaining from meat. ("How do you get your protein?!" is one of the more ludicrous questions that people always ask.) However, this is indeed only propaganda. The truth of the matter is that one's diet can be either healthy or unhealthy regardless of whether one is a vegetarian or a meat eater. There are both vigorous people and weak people in both categories. As long as one is dedicated to doing the research necessary to have a healthy and nutritious diet and exercise program, a vegetarian diet can give a person much more health that a meat-based diet can.
      There have been many thousands of strong warriors, intellectuals, leaders in every field, scientists, artists, martial artists, etc., etc. throughout history (most especially Vedic, Buddhist, etc. history) who were strict vegetarians from birth! Indeed, Sri Acharyaji himself has been a strict vegetarian for the last 43 years, and he is no weakling or nutritionally deficient person! At the age of 55, he lifts weights at the gym for about 90 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week, in addition to leading a global movement dedicated to restoring Dharma in every field of human endeavor. When he goes for walks in nature, it is often difficult for some of his disciples who are half his age to keep up with him. I've seen this myself.
      This being said, it is crucial to point out that the Vedic tradition DOES NOT advocate a vegan diet, which is very different from a vegetarian diet. A vegan diet cannot, indeed, be sustained in a healthy way for more than a few short years. By eliminating dairy products from their diet, vegans have committed themselves to a dietary fad that will lead to malnutrition, weakness, a loss of vitality, anemia, lethargy, effeminate behaviors, and other debilitating states. For this reason, Sri Acharyaji is always very careful to make it clear that we are to follow a vegetarian diet, and not a vegan one.
      I would strongly suggest that you do some more nutritional research on how to eat a balanced meal that will ensure that you eat as healthily as possible. Again, this is sound advice whether one is a vegetarian or not. After researching from objective sources, I am sure that you will be able to enjoy a healthy and very nutritious vegetarian diet. I hope this was helpful. Namaste.

    I really love your videos! One thing though, I personally believe animals can reason, and they certainly can speak, just not in a way that we understand. Animals certainly communicate with one another, and they choose to eat, to lie down, to come when you call them (or not) etc. If we reason, then so do they. Isn't meditation done in silence, perhaps they are the greatest yogi's of all, and realize there is no need for reason, but to be still and know God. Thanks for your videos, they are great

    Thanks for this great question. Yes a person can be a vegan follower of Sanatana Dharma. The minimal dietary requirements for being a serious practitioner of Vedic spirituality is that you not eat meat, fish and eggs. That is automatically covered in being a vegan. While we believe it is better to be a lacto-vegetarian (for the reasons discussed in the video and many more) - all vegans are warmly welcome! Please visit dharmacentral(dot)com for info on joining Sanatana Dharma.

    If a person cannot access organic, cruelty free milk is it not then more ethical to drink organic nut milks, soya or oat milks. Vegans might be unhealthy but the reason I don't drink cow's milk is because I can't access any that's ethically sourced.

    • @DharmaNation
      @DharmaNation  4 года назад +4

      Namaste Liz. Your statement is very true. If a person does not have access to cruelty free milk, then it is certainly acceptable to not drink cow's milk at all. In most places of the world, of course, it is possible to get organic, cruelty free milk. But for those places where it is not possible at all, it may be better to have a temporary vegan diet until one can get organic, cruelty free milk.

    When America went through World War II I believe, the farmers invested in mechanic tractors to keep up with the demands of war. When the war was over, the farmers were producing too much food that the prices collapsed and the farmers started going bankrupt. Thus the government started paying the farmer to destroy food to stabilize prices. Producing enough food is not the problem. Producing it and making money is the problem.

    Very good Points, but what about eating animals that have not suffered at all in very ethical standards of killing them?

    • @DharmaNation
      @DharmaNation  6 лет назад +5

      Killing, by very definition, is unethical unless one is killing in self-defense, in carrying out a sentence of capital punishment, in military duty, or clearly to survive (with the only alternative being one's own death due to starvation, etc.). It is clearly not necessary to kill animals in order to survive and have a healthy life. Therefore, to kill animals for food when there are clear alternatives to doing so is unethical.

    • @StyrbjornStarke
      @StyrbjornStarke 6 лет назад

      Ok i can accept that, the only animals i eat are fish and chicken. Very rarely do i eat red meat and since im living a bodybuilding lifestyle it can be hard to get full amino acid proteins outside of animal meat but dairy has good proteins of course as well.

    • @DharmaNation
      @DharmaNation  6 лет назад +7

      As long as you eat lots of dairy and mung beans (for example, dal and kitchari), you can definitely get more than enough protein and be a very successful bodybuilder. Acharyaji lifts weights about 90 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week, and has been vegetarian for over 40 years. It can definitely be done.
