Helpful hint, you can get the cardboard rolls for the arms and legs from a carpet store for free... It's the inner roll that carpet is wrapped around... With 4" PVC being $20+ for a 10' section you can save some money on multiples very quickly...
Wonderful job. I want to make a Giant Life Size Nutcracker to stand by my Fireplace and I like how you put your's together. I may use different materials to put mine together since it's going to be on the inside of my house. TFS
You should consider getting a used vinyl cutter. You could use vinyl for many of projects to simplify the "no drawing ability.". You can pick a used one up cheap. A Cricut Air 2 is what I recommend as it has the easiest software (which you can download free ahead of time and try out). You do not need to join the monthly program they try to get you to join. As a hobbiest you can get everything you will ever want or need from Google or Facebook groups. You could have imported that face from Google and cut it out in under 5 minutes in outdoor permanent black vinyl coating you less than a $1 in materials.
Oh my goodness why did I not know about this?? This is exactly what I need. I am going to go on Amazon right now to find one. So do you have to buy the vinyl sheets separate? I’m going to research how this works because I didn’t know this existed so I’m super excited about this.

You could have gone to Dollar Tree (DT) last year for one dollar and got cheap pizza trays. I said last year, because you made the video last year. $8.00 is too much, unless a specific size and DT didn't have it. Great job !!!!!
The issue was the size. You can’t use a regular 12in pizza tray, it needs to be 12-3/4in. The extra 3/4in accounts for the diameter of the form tube so a regular pizza tray from dollar tree won’t work
I used a pizza tray from Amazon. I spray painted it black. Since the form tub is 12”, I found a pizza tray that was 12 3/4 “ so it had a nice lip around the top to prevent water from getting inside. This is my first attempt at trying to make this for my family this Christmas, and your 2 part video of how you made it is very helpful and great, but nowhere can I find what the measurements are for the hat and face, I’m guessing you left it up to the person making it.
My apologies, it was one of my first Christmas tutorials and I wasn’t really good at making them. Here’s the measurements. Hat area: 12in Face area: 12in Body area: 24in Arms: 24in Legs: 24in

Hello Happy Holidays the out come looks great but you didnt show how you attached and put all the pieces together to acheive the final look. Are you plannng a behind the scene video or coming out with part 2
Great job my friend. I was curious… since making these - have you found anywhere that may have a stencil for the face ? I’m planning on making some - but having the faces consistent would be difficult going free hand …
I’m sorry for my late reply, I’m not getting all my notifications on time. I freehanded the face but several sellers on Etsy make face templates for nutcrackers so you might want to search there
My apologies that the video doesn’t show that. It was one of my first videos and I didn’t really know how to make a good DIY video. The body is sitting on a circular plywood piece. That wood disk is attached to the PVC legs BUT inside the PVC legs is 2”x3” wood. That wood is attached to both the plywood disk and the wood base (where the nutcracker is standing). So I build the platform base first, attached 2 pieces of 2”x3” wood (one wood piece per leg) and then put the PVC legs over that. Then I attached the circular plywood disk on top of the legs and wood and attached the body by drilling it to the wood. I can show you a video on how I did it if you message me on Facebook. Search “Isaac Alexander DIY”
I made 6 last year and made one already for someone. I see you have yours outside. What if it rains? Will that not mess the paint and decorations up on it? Or do you bring them inside if it rains? Mine are inside or placed on the porch. Wish I could post mine on here.
We have wet December’s so it’s rains several times. It did so well. Nothing was ruined and they remained sturdy. I just made sure to waterproof it good with the paint I used
Hello Dana, my apologies for this awfully late reply, I hadn’t seen the notification. The body is 2 feet, the face is 1 foot and the hat is 1 foot. Hope that helps

I didn’t know that DryLoc had sand in it to begin with but maybe that’s what gives it the rough texture. It worked out perfectly fine once I painted it. I liked the texture the DryLoc gave it
This is one of the first RUclips videos I made, which clearly was just time lapse so I apologize that I missed a lot of steps, I was new lol. I attached the arms with a screw and washer from the inside of the body into the arms. The nutcracker is standing on a wood base, which has two pieces of wood (2in x 3in by however tall the legs are) attached to the base for the legs to go over. After I put the legs over the wood, I drilled a couple screws to hold them in place. Then I cut and attached a 12 inch diameter plywood circle on top of the legs and wood. This is going to be where the main body rest on. Before attaching the main body on top of this plywood circle, I put two pieces of wood attached to the plywood circle so that I would have something to drill into once the main body was on top. I cut a couple 2in x 4in pieces and attached them onto the plywood circle with enough clearance so that the main body can slide over them. Once I did that I could attach a couple screws to the wood to anchor it into place

Thank you Tera! I buy all my paint at Lowes. I buy the paint by the quart. And it’s always exterior latex paint
Will it resist rain possibly because of the paint or better indoor?
I kept mine outside through rain and snow and it was perfectly fine.

WHAT DID YOU MAKE THE GOLD SHOULDER PART OUT OF?
They’re made out of 4” PVC caps. I linked the ones I used in the video description. Then I spray painted it gold.
How did you attach the arms and legs
Once I did that I could attach a couple screws to the wood to anchor it into place
Issac how did you attach his arms?
I used several screws. I drilled them in through the form tube (main body) since it’s wide enough it was easy to drill through it
