Looking at the exterior of the mountain…I am thinking ALL the heavy plastic foliage massed together on it, has stopped the structure from having the ability to “breathe”. ? If it can’t breathe, it will self destruct. Remember when they started building ultra energy efficient super tight homes? They couldn’t breathe. And they failed. They molded. People even died. Now they know, but then, they thought, the tighter the better. Manner of building was adjusted. I think they ruined the structure with all that heavy plastic junk ! JMO

Our family went to Florida last September and again this past January. We now only go to the night time events. We end up paying the same amount as regular gate admission, but we have perks like smaller wait times and free snacks. When we went in January we rode Tron 4 times back to back in 30 minutes and still had time for a two hour meal at Cinderellas Royal Table.
I’ve never been to Disney World. Just looked at photos of Splash Mountain. It look interesting with great perspective. And the focus is the splash. It’s been replaced by a green mound.
Splash Mountain is actually named after the 1984 movie Splash, but because the movie Song of the South had more animated characters to use they decided to actually base the ride off of that instead.

Yesterday we hit our 60 day mark to start making our dining reservations. EVERYTHING was available. So glad I didn’t get up at 5 am to do that. Thinking back to our October 2022 trip, I might have gotten three of the 10 or so top reservations on my wishlist. This time, there were even lots of spots left for Cinderella’s royal table. I remember that being THE reservation to snag last time.
Perhaps the most offensive thing, is that not only were they in such a hurry to replace Splash Mountain, but we didn't even get a proper Princess and the Frog ride out of it, either, so literally everybody loses. It's not PATF without the voodoo and Dr Facilier.

I think it works in CA. The going explanation is that they created the ride in CA but didn’t account for the humidity of FL. So the animatronics are malfunctioning.
it isn't just the re-theming. The current batch of "Imagineers" don't have half the skill or creativity of the ones who worked on the original Splash Mountain.

We just got back from two weeks at DW. On day one we went for early entry at MK and not a single attraction was operating for the first hour and a half.

I figured it out. It’s HAUNTED. Some poor Floridian lost their child back in the 90’s and secretly spread their ashes into the scenery because Splash Mountain was their kids favorite ride. And the kid “lived” in peace for all eternity amongst his animatronic animal buddies. But now, eternity has been disrupted. They’ve destroyed this beloved attraction and replaced it with this stinking pillar of woke nonsense- and the kid’s ghost is none too happy. So every night they go around F-ing up the joint. Undoing wiring, plumbing, track alignment, … etc GIT ME THE GHOSTBUSTERS!!
Despite the ride, I encourage people visiting Magic Kingdom to get the Lavender Lemonade at the refreshment stand near Tiana’s flume ride. That lavender lemonade was perfection when I was there last week. I didn’t even try to get a LL or virtual queue to that ride. I did go to Tom Sawyer’s Island to watch some kids at Fort Langhorn defending the island from boat side attack of the nefarious crew of the Liberty Bell paddle wheeler.
I can understand why they wanted to change Splash Mountain, it is based on the long forgotten, offensive Disney movie from the 1940s. What I don't understand is why did they base the new attraction on The Princess and the Frog? It wasn't a great success when it was released and 15 years later it's barely remembered. If they wanted an attraction based on a minority princess then why not Moana? They have a sequel and a live action version coming out shortly with a much, much greater fan base.
I don’t think it’s that simple. My friend is pretty high up and from what I’m told it’s Marxist identity politics the whole way through. All the typical DEI problems have strangled every division. Most of the good imagineers left or were forced out or don’t get an opinion unless their ultimate goal is to promote the matriarchy. He doesn’t work in imagineering though so maybe I’m wrong. - the stories I’m told weekly are so bad it’s almost unbelievable.
The only issue I have with the charts on the wait times is that Disney is known to change the way the lines are to make them appear that times are either longer or shorter depending on the day. But, I feel that I am not the only person out there that is tired of jacked up prices and crappy value entertainment. I am saving my money for something better and it makes me sad because Disney used to be the ideal place to go.
T-Shirt suggestion for WDW Pro: "Fix the Broken DEI Bots at Tiana's". That was a commentary on the actual broken animatronics, but the slogan may have a second meaning. This is isnt a curse but if be funny it it was. Its because the Tiana Robots are electric and they dont work well when it comes to humidity. They are in an open building instead of a closed off AC show building. Because of they robots dont work and cant sense the audience come by and when that happens the camera castmember stops the logs from going down and as to repower the ride. Unfortunately that means that they have to get everyone off the ride to not ruin the magic. Hydrolic Robots are the only ones that can work in a damp building. Splash Mountain is done for. Unless they close it off and install ACS everywhere. Maybe that could work. Unfortunately they won't do that

Which 5 days? I got on twice, once on Thursday, 8/15, and during the Halloween Party in 8/16, which was about a 30 minute wait. It was ok, I guess, but it seemed to be working consistently. And stop saying September will be slow. I've been in September. It's slower compared to Christmas, but it's still crowded.

You know, I always had a guess that the reason Splash Mountain wasn't changed in such a long time was mostly because it was a more costly/difficult ride to change up. Solely for the fact it's one of the physically highest attractions (with a lot of water too). It's really not unusual for Disney to remake rides and change themes. They've done it tons of times, especially to update with more recent material. It always seemed odd that Splash Mount with Br'er Rabbit took so long to change. In addition to the movie being controversial, I don't think Br'er Rabbit has ever been a particularly lucrative character in general. Is it because they keep the rides an appropriate theme for each area, and they didn't feel they had a good replacement? Maybe, but I think it's more likely it just seemed like more effort than it was worth. You have to either remove/take down animatronics entirely from that height, as well as bring new ones up. Though I'm sure they tried to rework many of the existing models without moving them (that'd be easier). I don't know how long the ride was down while they were changing everything. Did they do a rush job because they wanted Splash Mountain up and running ASAP? It is one of the few "thrill" rides they have at Magic Kingdom.
All your best people are going to leave if they are not rewarded for their efforts (merit). Why would you stay at a company where promotions and pay is based on demographics?

Electronics don't do good with heat, but they're even worse on a water ride that generates a ton of humidity in an indoor space - in already humid Florida! All the great electric animatronics they've put in other rides don't have this problem because they are in climate controlled show buildings, not exposed to the elements.

What do they care about Tiana's, the point was to get rid of Splash. They are only just getting started, people will be very surprised what is considered problematic.

It’s HAUNTED.
Some poor Floridian lost their child back in the 90’s and secretly spread their ashes into the scenery because Splash Mountain was their kids favorite ride.
And the kid “lived” in peace for all eternity amongst his animatronic animal buddies.
But now, eternity has been disrupted.
They’ve destroyed this beloved attraction and replaced it with this stinking pillar of woke nonsense- and the kid’s ghost is none too happy.
So every night they go around
F-ing up the joint.
Undoing wiring, plumbing, track alignment, … etc
GIT ME THE GHOSTBUSTERS!!
Christmas Vacation.
Despite the ride, I encourage people visiting Magic Kingdom to get the Lavender Lemonade at the refreshment stand near Tiana’s flume ride. That lavender lemonade was perfection when I was there last week. I didn’t even try to get a LL or virtual queue to that ride. I did go to Tom Sawyer’s Island to watch some kids at Fort Langhorn defending the island from boat side attack of the nefarious crew of the Liberty Bell paddle wheeler.
Did Disney hire a DEI consultancy firm to make the ride?
No one cares for this Tiana character or her story. But I say its Karma Baby... Forced DEI and woke simply destroys.
I can understand why they wanted to change Splash Mountain, it is based on the long forgotten, offensive Disney movie from the 1940s. What I don't understand is why did they base the new attraction on The Princess and the Frog? It wasn't a great success when it was released and 15 years later it's barely remembered. If they wanted an attraction based on a minority princess then why not Moana? They have a sequel and a live action version coming out shortly with a much, much greater fan base.

I don’t think it’s that simple. My friend is pretty high up and from what I’m told it’s Marxist identity politics the whole way through. All the typical DEI problems have strangled every division. Most of the good imagineers left or were forced out or don’t get an opinion unless their ultimate goal is to promote the matriarchy. He doesn’t work in imagineering though so maybe I’m wrong. - the stories I’m told weekly are so bad it’s almost unbelievable.

The only issue I have with the charts on the wait times is that Disney is known to change the way the lines are to make them appear that times are either longer or shorter depending on the day. But, I feel that I am not the only person out there that is tired of jacked up prices and crappy value entertainment. I am saving my money for something better and it makes me sad because Disney used to be the ideal place to go.

We can also revive Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" with a BRIGHT YELLOW T-shirt saying, "They Paved Over Rivers and Put Up a Parking Lot".

This is isnt a curse but if be funny it it was. Its because the Tiana Robots are electric and they dont work well when it comes to humidity. They are in an open building instead of a closed off AC show building. Because of they robots dont work and cant sense the audience come by and when that happens the camera castmember stops the logs from going down and as to repower the ride. Unfortunately that means that they have to get everyone off the ride to not ruin the magic.
Hydrolic Robots are the only ones that can work in a damp building. Splash Mountain is done for. Unless they close it off and install ACS everywhere. Maybe that could work. Unfortunately they won't do that

I can't stomach giving Disney any of my money, it's beyond me why the investors are sticking around, I think it being valued at about $89.3 at the time of this posting is too high for this flailing company.

Which 5 days? I got on twice, once on Thursday, 8/15, and during the Halloween Party in 8/16, which was about a 30 minute wait. It was ok, I guess, but it seemed to be working consistently. And stop saying September will be slow. I've been in September. It's slower compared to Christmas, but it's still crowded.
I guess there will always be the Universal park so no loss that I can discern. Joel Chandler Harris would be laughing if he was alive.

And the fact that Disney wants to build several NEW attractions in the various parks is another reason to be concerned about the future of the Disney parks

You know, I always had a guess that the reason Splash Mountain wasn't changed in such a long time was mostly because it was a more costly/difficult ride to change up. Solely for the fact it's one of the physically highest attractions (with a lot of water too).
It's really not unusual for Disney to remake rides and change themes. They've done it tons of times, especially to update with more recent material. It always seemed odd that Splash Mount with Br'er Rabbit took so long to change. In addition to the movie being controversial, I don't think Br'er Rabbit has ever been a particularly lucrative character in general.
Is it because they keep the rides an appropriate theme for each area, and they didn't feel they had a good replacement? Maybe, but I think it's more likely it just seemed like more effort than it was worth. You have to either remove/take down animatronics entirely from that height, as well as bring new ones up. Though I'm sure they tried to rework many of the existing models without moving them (that'd be easier).
I don't know how long the ride was down while they were changing everything. Did they do a rush job because they wanted Splash Mountain up and running ASAP? It is one of the few "thrill" rides they have at Magic Kingdom.
All your best people are going to leave if they are not rewarded for their efforts (merit). Why would you stay at a company where promotions and pay is based on demographics?

🤣They don't understand basic physics!!! The new animatronics are all electric. Electronics don't do good with heat, but they're even worse on a water ride that generates a ton of humidity in an indoor space - in already humid Florida! All the great electric animatronics they've put in other rides don't have this problem because they are in climate controlled show buildings, not exposed to the elements.
Seeing lower wait times would prompt me to go 😂😂 until you get to the parks and the average wait time is over 50 mins 😤 the Halloween party is selling out because it isn’t 100 degrees at night
