If you want to avoid throttle grip after using a lubricant you can use rubbing alcohol, like the stuff you spray on your hands and it evaporates in about 2 minuets then your grips are locked down like they always are.

The problem with removing grips with WD-40 is that it's hard to clean out the lube from inside your grips. If you ride in the rain, the lube somehow lets water in, and suddenly your grip pops off when you need it most like when you're doing a wheelie or a jump. If you have grips that lock to the bar with bolts, then it won't slide off, but part of the grip might slip and that's annoying. If you have a high pressure air pump, stick a screw driver in then blow that high pressure in. The grip will expand and slide off. You can slide them on the same way. This is how the bike shop does it. I know, because I worked at bike shop.
Hey Lil man. Try Window cleaner or Rubbing Alcohol for the grips. NEVER cut with a sharp tool(razor, knife,ect), you can score the bars and make them weak. Just a tip from the Old School.

For rim brakes I wouldn't put hydros its really nothing difference besides different brake pads. Id use Koolstop brakes and theyre sharp enough. Hydros are only used for Disc Brakes and are sharper then

quick tip push the grip on with the palm of your hand when putting it back on or smack it
