    I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but: Yeah, there’s a reason MonsterArts has those gaps. More gaps allow for more articulation; tighter sculpt looks better but articulated less. I get that people are comparing these to SHMA because of “accurate/detailed sculpt and articulation”, but these are more like a missing link between SHMA and Neca, and not a direct competition with either of them.

      Exactly! These are still great for newer collectors as well, but man did it leave me salty 😅

      @@kaijumieaddict1777 each collector may be looking for something specific in each figure they buy. For instance, here you want that high articulation, and you’re willing to sacrifice some sculpt for me. For me, I’m looking for small size, so I’d rather get something like a High Grade or MMS than an X-Plus or Marusan. But we have so many folks arguing that one brand is better than the other without clarifying those specifics. Like, if I said “MMS > Marusan 350” that would be nuts.

      @@ThirstyThursdayToys I think I need to make a follow-up to this video talking about those exact points! It’s fair to compare products, but Hiya, and SHMA are two different monsters from the same beast.

      came to comment basically this but you said pretty much exactly what I was going to myself. People act like HIYA and SHMA cannot exist in the same world and that as a consumer, you MUST buy one or the other, when in reality both brands offer something unique. I personally want veriaty with characters, and the ability to display said characters in varying dynamic poses while still keeping them mostly screen accurate, so MonsterArts is right up my ally. Others want affordability so they go with MMS, some may want 1/1 sculpt and detail with presence, so they opt for X-plus. HIYA figures are just another faction here, a well sculpted line that cuts back on articulation and slight stylisation for a more faithful on screen look with the downside of limited posability. Like you said essentially the missing link between NECA and SHMA, and dare I say in terms of sculpt and paint work a distant smaller cousin to what X-plus offers. I really don't know where the "you're ether side A or side B" thing comes from ether, because for the longest time it was the norm for collectors to have a bit of everything. I myself have pretty much every MMS figure, and almost every SHMA figure but due to already stretched funds I opt out of X-plus, Marmint, marusan etc etc.

      @@DaikaijuDU I’m really glad there’s more collectors in this community that think this way! Which I know there’s plenty but the RUclips side of things seem to land more in the one or other! Sadly just really not happy with this release 😅 even taking out SHMA of the discussion, I’m just not happy with the end product. Oh well! I tried at least!

    Fun fact: hiya toys make Godzilla action figures just about 90% of accurately because the articulation’s are too tight.

    I think the hype around Hiya Toys Godzilla figures come from how movie accurate they look rather than the figures themselves. This could just be me rambling but thats what I think the main hype comes from. Plus its cheaper than SHMAs.

      @kaijumieaddict1777  2 месяца назад

      Yep! I know that! I’m not confused why people like these so much. I’m just personally disappointed with the product, and I’d rather spend more money on SHMA 🤷🏻‍♂️ as I prefer articulation over accuracy in this style of figure. If I want accuracy I’ll keep buying my X-Plus releases!

      @@BlockyRBLXGaming Because it’s not what I want in an articulated figure. It’s looks okay, and it’s basically a statue after heating it up twice. It feels cheap to hold. I just bought the SHMA Goji 2024 and after shipping it was only $10 more. The Hiya just isn’t what I want in a figure 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Yeah i see how someone could not like this figure because its not as fun. I got the og 2021 and though it was sick (better articulation than new molds) and the og heatray and loved it, but a couple days ago i thought about how i could improve the articulation.so i took some paper towel bits and popped out the joints i thought were weak and fixed them up. Hes so much better now that he moves more. I didnt realize how big of a deal articulation was until i got mine moving. Awesome review sad to see your disappointed

    To each their own I guess. Everyone has different opinions but for me the last best shma monsterverse godzilla was the 2014 and the 2019 godzilla as all the other molds felt like the paint application has been subpar. For the best balance for the sculpt, paint and articulation as well as the "price" has been the hiya figures. The minus one goji was great only riddled with qc issues. Hope the evolved godzilla, skar king and shimo would be okay.
    I think Hiya has been killing it recently with the announcement of the Ghidorah 1991. Hope you can have a picture of the best godzillas of the franchise in one frame. The shma minus one, smha shin godzilla and the hiya monster verse godzilla.

    Compared this to your GxK review. Gotta say... you are one biased reviewer aren't ya?
    Comparing Hiya's tail to the stiff $140 Minus 1 Gojira who is built to have his Tail on a S position.
    Complaining about paint yet your overpriced SHMA loverboy gives you black skin on their new figure.
    Wiggle the tail on this yet don't on the GxK
    Complain about this figure not able to do the S shape form yet not on the GxK SHMA version.
    I don't know, man. Sounds kinda Horse crap to me.

    • @ThirstyThursdayToys
      @ThirstyThursdayToys Месяц назад +2

      I think every reviewer is going to state their personal preferences within their reviews, beyond just stating objective facts about the product. And in the regard, avoiding biases is going to be difficult. Like, I’m willing to overlook a lot of things that I would normally complain about, if the figure is a translucent teal, haha. I bought the very first Hiya Godzilla release, and couldn’t get over how much I hated the way they designed the neck - I didn’t even end up reviewing it; just stuck it back in the box. I’m sure a lot of people would have complained that I’m making a mountain out of a molehill and overlooking a lot of great aspects about the figure, but each collector is looking for specific things, and either a figure hits the mark for them or it doesn’t.

      @@ThirstyThursdayToys That doesn't change the fact that you did unfair comparison on the 2 specific product that should've been fairly compared.
      What you did is unfair comparison no matter how you like the product or not.
      How about you do a follow up update in this product and compare it to the GxK with all the points you pin against this figure like the paint and tail you bash in this review and how you praise the GxK for its "Detail".
      Like, come on, mate. It isn't that bloody difficult to make a Fair review even if you don't like the other. But that doesn't mean you have to point out some unfair points while comparing it to something that is not the very thing it is trying to compete with.
