Absolutely! I always remind my pregnant friends and family that it takes work to even get to an epidural, especially the first one, all labor and delivery is beautiful and wonderful and horrible and painful and scary!!!! But it’s our choice how we want it and it is our choice-no judgment!!!
When my daughter was born in Germany everyone was talking about a woman who had delivered a 17 lb baby natural birth. I didn't get to see it, but later my husband saw the mother and baby at the clinic for the baby's 6 week checkup. He said the baby was too big for a baby carrier and she had it in a laundry basket.
Oh my word . My first baby was 11 lb at birth , but reached 17 lb at 4 months , just before I weaned her . People thought she was huge at 17 lb s and were surprised she had nothing more than breast milk up until then .
I remember when one of my kids was born and was 8lbs. The neighbor had a 10lb baby a week later and the baby seriously already looked about 3 mos old! Both precious on their own way. I was so glad that I got to push out the small one!!! Now he’s 15 5’10” and 160lbs. I can’t imagine that he was ever little in my arms while I held his little hand wrapped around my index finger!!! Little and big miracles!!! So wonderful!!
My first was 9 lbs 13 oz and the second was 11 lbs 2 oz, both natural labors under 4 hours. I am 6 feet tall and they are now tall adults…6-3 boy and 6-0 girl. No diabetes. Now, 30 years later, I’m still dealing with hemorrhoids. Every child is a miracle.
I will be looking forward to new episodes every Sunday from now on. Thanks again for another episode . It is interesting to see the maternity ward from. MCA point of view. A lot of shows like this focuses on the work of doctors and midwives. I don’t think that support staff get enough spotlight . Also it’s incredible how calm births are in the UK and how low the intervention rate is for births . The mom Carly with the 9 lb 4 baby and the long induction process I can just about imagine how it would be a different story in places like China and the US. In China a baby of that weight would simply scare them as being too large and they would have done a c section for a failed induction after 4 days . I admire this hospital for its patience in such cases .
In 1932, my 5’3” grandmother had twins that weighed 10 lbs. each, at home with a midwife. A year later, she gave birth with a midwife at home to an 11 lb. boy. A year after that, she had a late term miscarriage of twins who were also big for their gestation age. Don’t ask me why, but I decided to never get pregnant, and, at 71, I do not regret that decision!
I gave birth to a ten pound 12 ounces baby girl naturally on January 19th 2020. Natural labour with some Pitocin towards the end. I was not induced although a c-section was scheduled for the next day. She is 13 months old now. And I did not have gestational diabetes.

Oh goodness “the perfect mom” 🙄 Everyone has different needs, experiences, circumstances, requirements, limitations and experiences pain differently. Your way was ideal for you doesn’t mean it is for everyone.
My son weighed 11 lbs, 11.3 oz at birth. I did not have a C-section. None of his gifted newborn clothes fit. He was wearing 1 year clothes when he left the hospital with me 4 days later.
This is why I always advise people to ask for clothing of various sizes as newborn won't always fit the baby. (for baby shower gifts or baby registry gift suggestions) Ultrasound isn't always accurate at estimating birth weight.
Mine too. They had to get diapers from the children's unit since natal unit had none big enough. I had bought lots of clotches size 50-60 he never wore them they were too small. Now he is 25 , 190cm/about 78 kg . When he was three weeks old he sat on my arm holding his head and back. At 5 month he stood up holding on to the sofa his small legs shaking but determined to stand.
The first thing I was taught as a student nurse was measuring blood pressure with a sphigomanometer. It’s easy. These days it’s all done with a battery operated device
These nurses should come to Canada to teaches nurses to actually nurse people instead of just being pill dispensers. Imagine learning to actually make real beds with real sheets
I was very lucky. Labor and birth = 1 hour and 20 minutes. No meds, no screaming and no real pain. Doctor was at the end of the table, wearing a catcher's mitt... :D :D :D
Hahaha 😂 I'm there with you. No pain meds, easy births, no screaming. My 4th I thought should be out in no time but was being born face up. I remember asking the Dr if she was stuck or what. Lol. Then he told me.
I was born in the late 80's 13 weeks premature. Still trying to wrap my head around this: 1 lb 13 oz. I have friends who were even smaller than that and though certain eye conditions developed while in the nicu, we're all healthy adults today. I was in hospital for 6 months since I couldn't breathe on my own and so on.
My son was 10 lbs and 23 inches at 38+3. My daughter was 11.1 lbs and 22 inches at 38+2. Have nothing naturally and unmedicated. Both deliveries were 10.5 hours. Was induced with cervidil for my daughter.
I wanted to deliver vaginally, but my OB/GYN said there was no way. My birth canal is very narrow and it would be dangerous to try. My baby was little. 6 pounds 7 ounces and 17 inches long. I trusted her when she said no. She’s been delivering babies for 40 years now and I went with her judgement. I didn’t want to chance getting my baby girl stuck.
I had a 7.15 lb. boy who was stuck and the doc pulled him out with forceps and in the process pulled me off the table. My son suffered from that for over a yr and I am still having problems 42 yrs later from 4th degree tears.
I very all ways wanted to be a midwife. Never did it..or I midwife assistant. I'm almost 50 and I think I'll go back to school. This shows put the dream back..thank you
It appears to me, she is suffering from some sort of irreversible hair loss or thinning, and has decided to either tattoo, or 'paint' on colour to her scalp to resemble hair. I feel she would look better simply bald, or with a wig. But people handle trauma in interesting ways.
2 of my 9 were big. My 4th was 9lb 12oz (military hospital). My 8th was 11 lbs (homebirth). I'm 5'2" so I was huge lol. Surprisingly short labors though...3 and 4hrs.
Did they seriously just preform two blood pressures, in a row, on the same arm. 🤦🏻♀️ you have to wait 10 minutes to preform another blood pressure on that arm. That BP check 101!
I had a fast labour, I went from 3cm to 10cm in like 20min.. here in Canada it a doctor that delivers your baby well the poor nurse had to basically catch my son he came so quickly the doctor just missed it by 20sec..
I almost had my third baby in my husband's truck (got stuck in morning traffic). Got to the hospital and immediately started pushing; I think it took 10 minutes total. Whole time begging in vain for an epidural even though I knew it was way too late lol. Plus side was I was mobile again almost immediately; it was nice not to be paralyzed for a time after birth.
My baby girl was 11lb 6oz with a head full of dark hair that the nurse put in a little bow on top of her head. She certainly did not look like a newborn.
I have 4 kids and my 1st baby weighed 9# 6oz my 2nd weighed 11# 5 oz my 3rd weighed 11#12oz and my 4th was 12# 8 oz. All natural births and only 1 born in a hospital. The other 3 were born in my doctor's birthing clinic. I didn't scream or make a fuss. Childbirth was always natural to me. No long labors or pains. I love my children and I would do it all over again. Now they are all grown with children of their own
She probably means how red or pink it looks inside sometimes you get it home and it’s just sad inside and not very good lol Supposedly the ones with a brown spot from sitting on the ground are the most ripe.
Steve hospitals in the UK don’t have a pull out couch for the dads in the US all birthing labor rooms have pull out couches so the dad can spend the night before the babies born and after there’s always beds in every single room I feel so sorry for these dads I’m kind of shocked.
My son was 9.5 & I stayed in labor 36 hours to find out I couldn’t have him natural 😓. I finally had a c-section. He was so ugly when he was taken that I told the nurse that can’t be my baby he’s so ugly 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was wondering how big a baby this lady had that they titled the episode Mum with large baby has a natural birth. My first was 9# 4oz. I had been told he would be small and I thought if that was a small baby what is a large one? My second baby was 10# 7oz. Good time to quit after that! Both were born naturally. One was 18 days late and the other 19 days late. I love baby being born shows, but I have never in any of them, or with my own babies or as a nursing student on the maternity ward, ever heard a woman screaming like the one lady. Seems like would take away from her O2 which both she and the baby needed, and also a lack of focus and concentration on pushing.
@@dianebays5484 Mine made me feel like I was choking at the end. But no episiotomy for which I was grateful as I had one with the first and it bothered me for about a year.
Yeah that’s the thing I notice about watching UK medical shows . Every single time I’m like “ Why they are allowed to not wear masks?!” Nowadays however , no one would think about not wearing masks . No masks , covid or not , would never fly in the ORs of North America or China .

Praying that everyone falls asleep quickly and has a peaceful sleep. Hope you all wake up happy and well rested 🍓🍓🍓
Happy valentines day
Emma is beautiful! She should be a model!
Feb 14th, 1985 I had a big baby My 3rd son was 11lbs 11 oz was 28 3/4 inches ALL NATURAL even with him being posterior I'm 5ft
My babies were 9-2 and 10-6. 10-6 was natural and so easy I could not believe it.
💕🤗💕The most Beautiful experience in Life!!!🤰🤱❤️
i was born 2 months premature in '98 and about 2 kg, so seeing babies that small at 5 weeks premature makes me wonder how small i was
2 Kg is about 4.4# which is a tiny baby. Did you have to spend time in the NICU?
@@gailrodgers3079 not sure, i did not ask further
I was born in the late 80's 13 weeks premature. Still trying to wrap my head around this: 1 lb 13 oz. I have friends who were even smaller than that and though certain eye conditions developed while in the nicu, we're all healthy adults today. I was in hospital for 6 months since I couldn't breathe on my own and so on.
My son was 10 lbs and 23 inches at 38+3. My daughter was 11.1 lbs and 22 inches at 38+2. Have nothing naturally and unmedicated. Both deliveries were 10.5 hours. Was induced with cervidil for my daughter.
i remember doing the manual blood pressure test, my teacher checked it after me & just guessed but jeez thank you to my goodluck :) got it right
I wanted to deliver vaginally, but my OB/GYN said there was no way.
I had a 9 pound baby and because of that 3rd degree tear 😰😰
One year later: STILL not OK down there 😭😭😭
Oh, dear. Tearing can happen with coached pushing. Sorry you're still experiencing issues.
This shows put the dream back..thank you
I was a big baby too. I still am a big baby.
CUTE❣️
Is the one ladies hair drawn on? Lol
I asked myself the same question...still trying to figure it out 🤔...I mean to each it's own but...
I have the same thoughts! Not to be mean. But it looks glued down. Lord forgiven me for my remark.
I wondered same thing... I'm so confused
It appears to me, she is suffering from some sort of irreversible hair loss or thinning, and has decided to either tattoo, or 'paint' on colour to her scalp to resemble hair. I feel she would look better simply bald, or with a wig. But people handle trauma in interesting ways.
@@Wakeupgrandowl It appears she is most likely suffering from alopecia.
2 of my 9 were big. My 4th was 9lb 12oz (military hospital). My 8th was 11 lbs (homebirth). I'm 5'2" so I was huge lol. Surprisingly short labors though...3 and 4hrs.
Nine! Wow, that's amazing.
Happy valentines day everyone!
Wow, you were lucky with that! Were you very active during the pregnancy? They say that helps to make it faster and easier, but not sure that's true.
My second baby was a natural delivery weighing 12lb 14 onz!
ouch!!
😲🙊
Wow amazing lady, I thought mine where big at 10lb 7oz and 9lb 3oz xx
Wow
Now they are all grown with children of their own
When I worked in a nursing home in Indiana, elderly woman told me her 2 kids weighed 23 lbs at birth.
This had to be before Covid.
I love 💗 watching birth vlogs
Me, too.

What a truly beautiful soul 😍
Blessed Congratulations♡♡♡
Ciao che bella bambina carina anche se la sua famiglia e bella carina come la bambina ciao tutti
Just because her baby is 8 lb 15 oz doesn't mean he will be a big person. My daughter was 8 lb 3 oz and she is a petite 5'3" as an adult.
But all watermelons I’ve seen look exactly the same inside.. 😂😂
She probably means how red or pink it looks inside sometimes you get it home and it’s just sad inside and not very good lol Supposedly the ones with a brown spot from sitting on the ground are the most ripe.
Happy ❤️ day everyone
Steve hospitals in the UK don’t have a pull out couch for the dads in the US all birthing labor rooms have pull out couches so the dad can spend the night before the babies born and after there’s always beds in every single room I feel so sorry for these dads I’m kind of shocked.
Since I've had my babies over 20 Years ago they now have double beds for the couple here in Mn.
I gave birth 4 times in the USA & there wasn't any Dad beds in my rooms
🇨🇦 I love Emma!
Happy valentine's day to you all x
I had a 10.2 pounder. Wasn't fun at all.
@@dianebays5484 Mine made me feel like I was choking at the end. But no episiotomy for which I was grateful as I had one with the first and it bothered me for about a year.
42:03 i want to hug u my beautiful angel.that baby is so cute
That ad that screamed in my earbuds during no this vlog was AWFUL !!!! Will not EVER watch on here again !!!!
0:26 for the love god.....i jumped 😅😅😅 put them volume low 🤣
"Call the Midwife" modern times.
LOVE THIS 💪💪
Ths is crazy in america we wear surgical masks in c section room I didn't see any of that 😳
They usually do in the uk too. My youngest sister was born in the uk they used masks.
Yeah that’s the thing I notice about watching UK medical shows . Every single time I’m like “ Why they are allowed to not wear masks?!” Nowadays however , no one would think about not wearing masks . No masks , covid or not , would never fly in the ORs of North America or China .
Does the mid wife have a tattooed head of hair?
I need an answer because I’m wondering as well
Maybe she has Alopecia?
Looked like she gelled it down or something but only in the front
It looks to me like she has a wig cap glued down.
I'm still trying to figure it out! 😳😁
oohhh! Hi! Hello baby! 👋😃😄
I am watching these babies and thinking I want to have a baby. Then I remind myself, get real your 73 years old.
Lol
