To see this piece of history is absolutely incredible!! 😍 As others have said, this early concept looks to follow the book more closely - and notice that Dogtanian kills a Cardinal’s Guardsman in cold blood!! 😱
@@ChristopherSobieniakHe also resembles his father more here, while in the show he was more of a mix of the two, which of course added to the Snoopy look.
I'm gonna be honest. Looking at this design for Dogtanian, I actualy like it so much better than the one they ultimately went with. In the main series, he looks too much like a Snoopy clone, while in here, he looks not only more original and cuter, but also much more like his parents in the final series. Sure, I like the series as it is, but watching this pilot version of Dogtanian really makes me wish they went with that design instead of basically ripping off Snoopy.
It's interesting to finally see this pilot in full. There probably wasn't much in the way of actual dialogue recorded since BRB decided that this wasn't the final designs for most of the characters, before Nippon Animation finalised them. Still, it's great to see the pilot in action, judging by the clarity of the footage and the fact it uses CD quality versions of the opening and ending themes. This must have come from the Wan Wan Sanjushi Complete series DVD release from Japan. Thanks for uploading this. :)
@Hifovop I'm only assuming it's from the DVD release in Japan though. This could have very well have come from a very well kept broadcast master videotape perhaps, but it's probably more likely to be the DVD.
@@filevans That's likely because that there was no dialogue recorded for this at all. This was only a pilot, probably to use to sell the series to TV networks etc.
@@filevans I didn't mention ANYTHING about dialogue, you did. Herego, your talking nonsense! I told you this was a pilot episode, just produced to sell or show off the show as a form of preview. If it needed to be dubbed, it could have been done later. But it doesn't need to be as this is only a pilot.
@@ChristopherSobieniak Or likely there wasn't one to begin with. Anyway you have some nerve replying to me after you guilted me out of some money nearly a year ago. Yeah I'm that guy.
Funny how the Cardinal and Milady are the only ones who appear here as they do in the final programme. While many of the character breeds are the same, it's clear their designs still needed modifications later. And given Athos (Porthos in the dub) is wearing a sling it appears it was planned to follow the book a little more. That might explain the absence of Constance, or Juliette as she became in this series, from this pilot.
Queen Anne at left: this necklace was a very precious object that cannot be hided on many places,so don't loses it Rochefort look very carefully on right: yes mam
This piece of animation must've been done as some kind of sales pitch for BRB International, the Spanish co-producers and owners of the show worldwide, just to see how the final product would be dictated by the European partners.
seeing as how in the followup series they had a character that was just recolored scooby doo I figure that they dictated d'artanian look more like snoopy for the final version
Rhumba Seeing that Snoopy has a worldwide appeal, I wouldn't blame Shuichi Seiki, José Luiz Rodrigues and Lorenzo Ballester for the definite designs. It's no surprise that Nippon Animation who have always based their work on Western pop culture did abid to their Spanish partners' suggestions to keep their anime as worldwide appealing as possible, but what is a big surprise is that Nippon Animation did NOT make an anime version of Charlie Brown & Friends.
I always found out that 80’s Japanese anime for having cute and lovely style. But why the newly released movie must be using an awfully plastic look CGI and not using Japanese anime style anymore? Fyi: The movie concept art were nice, but why and why must they use the CGI 😭😭
It appears that this is some sort of an early pitch to BRB made by Nippon Animation. They probably just wanted to show how they are going to animate different settings throughout the story, thus we can see here D'Artagnan being sent away by his father, musketeers fighting, interiors of king's palace and cardinal plotting with Milady. Surprisingly we can see the siege of la Rochelle (which, I guess, is a huge part of the book, I've never read it XD) that didn't make it to the final cut. My guessing is, that they would have to show protestants as evil and they just thought some viewers might have found it offensive. It's possible that this part of the story went far into development, since on some Japanese covers you can see musketeers carrying la Rochelle's flag. This would also explain why later episodes seem to be terribly rushed - they are animated poorly and stories shown there look like they were written on eleventh hour (they're also terribly random, like why does Dogtanian land on some tropical island like wtf). I personally find this pilot superior to the rest of the series - it's much more fluently animated, they show brutal stuff going on (D'Artagnan straight up kills a man BTW is it supposed to be monsieur Jussac/Widimer?) and it seems to be more faithful to the book. Not to mention that the main hero is not Snoopy's copy and doesn't look like he's adopted. My thinking is that despite the final series' popularity it's not all that good. It's animated horribly (it actually reminds a lot of the second season of Japanese Moomins, which tried to be more gimmicky and cartoony and thus scrapped completely keeping the character's proportions) and the overall story has A LOT of poor and lazy writing. The music also isn't that great, it's the theme song played OVER AND OVER AGAIN - sure it's great, but not when it's being played ENDLESSLY in the background! At least in Willy Fog they were more creative and made a couple songs more. BRB always liked to cheap out on their films which is perfectly visible in the recent Dogtanian movie - YUCK!
Can anyone please help me find a video on RUclips which was a properly remastered Dogtanian Spanish intro? It had colours toned down to make it look as it should (the BRB-made remaster is just crappy and too bright). I really liked it, but can’t seem to find it even after a tiring research 😭
Y si aquí no sale Julieta
I like the design of this version better 😢
I really wished they made this OVA as a movie.
子供の頃の記憶に残っている、素敵な歌。このアニメと歌は40年以上前だったんですね。😅
Es increible ver como era D'Artacan antes de ser un beagle!!!
Oh my gosh Aramis looks extra handsome here 😳

i like that version of Dogtanian much more than this Snoopy Copy. The color are much better and that soundtrack is brilliant.
Yeah the finished version is quite Snoopy-ish than what they had here with a more normal-looking dog.
Wait what version of dogtanian is this were I can find it

I didn't know that this is a some kind of Early Concept Pilot of Dogtanian. Curiouser and curiouser. From T.L.
Animations looks more fluid and lively then the barely animated scenes in the final show, not to mention, Dartacan straight up kills a guy.
Shame no VHS or DVD of the show from Spain has this as a special feature!
Looks a lot more like his father tbh which makes sense tbh
Certainly not a bad first try they did here.

You can’t. They don’t exist, it’s just a pilot. It’s only this short film

Did they ever use the original Dogtanion design in the finished show, only for another character? Because it does look familiar... 🤔
Yes they did, Dogtanian’s boyhood rival Francois! He was recoloured but the character design is broadly the same 😀
I wish this was inserted to my dream with an indonesian dubbing
I wonder if there a full movie of this dogtanian pilot

can you watch this fairy tale somewhere because I'm interested
pretty milady
Yeah, because she was look like she was pleased to cardinal but in cgi she did not meet cardinal
I wonder what Juliet would have looked like in this pilot?
😅😅
what is that exactly? the hero from the TV show Dogtanian look different
Its because this is the first concept of Dogtanian, and for that its different that the actually character
Oh my gosh, weird cartoon
