Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

I remember when "On the Road Again" video was being pushed on video TV shows
and it actually made me not want to buy the full album because I was thinking the whole
album was going to sound like New Jack Swing (which I hated with a passion) but as
soon as I heard "Start it up Y'all" and some other songs on the album on various mix shows,
those are the songs that made me buy the album.
"On the Road" did more damage to the sales than it did any help. It's good to know that
Milk hated the song as much as the rest of us did.
I felt the same way when I saw the video for "On the Road Again".
I said "Oh no! not Milk D! He went newjack swing too?" and I ignored
the album until I heard DJ's play the album cuts.
I was ready to just ignore the album based on the video the label chose.
Great points, @SirTylerLawton2024. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
It's wild how the labels operate sometimes, @WillieTonka. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Ugh. I remember that song. I thought it was corny, and I'm glad to know he hates it, too.

I can't tell how many times I've been in the grocery store dairy department and busted out..."M.C am I; people call me milk...when I'm busting up a party, I feel no guilt."
Comedy, @ivanlowjones. That's the power of music. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Still liked the video tho. 😔
"Get Your Mother off the Crack" is still one of my favorite songs.

"On The Road Again" was alright but the second album single should've been "Whatcha Lookin At" or "Start It Up Ya'll" with Positive K & MC Lyte.
Definitely. "Whatcha Looking At?" was an awesome piece of music.
