How To Paint Magic Glow Effects in Photoshop

- Quick tutorial for folks already familiar with painting in photoshop on a way to use gradient maps in order to paint magic effects.
This tutorial probably isn't great for beginners as I don't go over any really basic things.
I'm using a wacom cintiq and photoshop 22.1.1
This is definitely the best tutorial i saw in years
Oh my goodness, I always struggle so much with shapes, and seeing you rock out this kind of stuff in 17 minutes, no sweat, is amazing. I remember seeing you show this on your Twitter. Good of you to also make a video of it!
P.S.: If you ever have an excess of time and energy, and a desire to show folks how to paint clouds, I would love to see that! Might be kind of in the same vein as this technique, even. I have not been able to paint a nice cloud ever since I started painting, or maybe I have just not had the patience 😔.

does the color fill you did at the beginning act as the black that the gradient map picks up?
