    I'm in the UK. I had a '79 CSi for 6 years, chrome bumper model, in Henna Red. It had the close-ratio, dog leg box and was a total weapon! You could throw it around like a mk2 escort, it was mega! I've got to say, everytime I drove that car, without exception, I was inspired to say, out loud, "god, I love this car"!
    The steering was perfectly weighted and was just a joy to use. The throttle response, in any gear, with that close ratio gearbox, was instant, real shove you back-in to the seat stuff. If you floored it the nose would rise high and the back-end would just squat down and launch you. The close ratio box, had 5th at 1:1 so was low geared - 100 mph came up at about 4,800 rpm. I used to regulary see 8mpg! -
    Yeah, I drove it like I stole it for all of those 6 years! It wasn't that I set out to be a hooligan, the car just begged to be driven! The brakes were amazing, I mean they would lock-up just like that at low speed, pre abs model, but at high speed, they were always great. I used to use Castrol DOT 5.1 brake fluid - don't skrimp on your brake fluid, it can make all the difference.
    It would do 38mph in 1st, 60 in 2nd, 80 in 3rd and 112mph in 4th gear. 138 Came up at 6,400 rpm in top gear (red line), but I did see 7,200 in top gear once. - you'll have to work it out!
    Mine came from new (it was on the options list receipt) with 14" BBS cross alloys, not metric, running 195/70VR14 - I used the Goodyear NCT/2 tyre, which worked really well with it.
    It's achilles heal was the rubber doughnut between the gearbox and the propshaft, and they would last about 9 months!
    It was so comfortable too, long journeys just made you feel great and you got to the other end, still ready for more!
    I nearly forgot, the sound the car made was just ace, Low growl at tick-over to 6-cylinder scream at high revs. It was really torque'e too - you could roll along in top, at low speed, with the burble of the exhaust setting off car alarms!
    I'm not writing this, not to brag, but instead to share with others what it was like. The car was well out of my league (clerical assistant in a local authority aged 23!) and I came upon it by chance. £700 in 1994! I rebuilt the suspension which brought it back up, to where it should be, at least mechanically. I think it was on 157,000 miles when I bought it (3rd owner) and I think it was on about 224,000 miles when I let it go? It was a money pit but even so, I know I am so lucky to have had one of these for six years and to have been able to enjoy hard driving in it - if I broke, I fixed it.
    It kept me poor, but boy, what an experience. I wouldn't change it for anything.

    Every E24 is worth being brought back no question. Millions of E30s on the road, junked, maintained, or restored, while the e24 will stay hidden and overlooked just because of the sheer numbers that were made. E24 will be the real gems for ever. The fucking shark! Thank you.

    I have an '85 635csi Euro spec that is Schwarz over Schwarz. I've had it just over two years now and have mostly restored it. Right now it just needs some paint in a few areas and then I will probably sell it. It's been a great project, but your's shows much better than mine. Hopefully I'll make it to the SE. Sharkfest or 4 corners some day (I have another that I just bought so I'll have the two and then sell the one I've been restoring). Great video though; I definitely went thru the same type of thought process.

    Your E24 looks really awesome. I love your color for your BMW. I have an E34 540I V8 and an E31 850Ci V12 in the same color, I love it. Your works at the car are looks professional, well done. Here in Germany it is quite different to buy a E24 in a good condition, you have the chose to buy a tunend or for much more money a untuned E24. Back then I decide to look for a 850Ci or CSi, and this was the right one. Funny is my neighbors drive as a 2 or 3rd car Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, Cadillac, and so on and you guys drive the German cars. I'm not kidding! Greetings....

    People want to know what is the next muscle cars to restore? These,and the E34 BMW's.I know people are going to ask why?The answer is easy,when you mention the word restore it comes with a sizeable price tag!Now the 625 CSI is my favorite of this model,and there really are not much to argue over,but I just like the 625,and it's my choice!I will mention again,any estore is costly,and time consuming so there you go.But at the end of the day it is a BMW,and it has a ton of options that will make these hall snot on a door knob?So if you are going to spend a load of time and money spend it on a BMW?I just love the SHARK nose combined with it's untouchable interior,which by the way can not even be touched in today's standards.When done right it just will not have a fast look,it's going to be super fast.I love these but me and the wife are doing a retro version of a M5 525it wagon with all the trim and going for the Alpina looks front too back.I love the only Black in the world,and this is the Mercedes Black!To finalize the 6 speed gear box,and it's tight turning steering combined with the turbo chargers you living in heaven.Remember that a restore is not the time it's the quality!After all when you do a restore make it a American or Euro the cost is the real reason for the amount of time that will be the investment any reason.But please do you and yours a main favor,think it through,and remember the amount of folding money invested should display the well invested thought in the car,and not just a bundle of dollars that the end results provided you and the public a enjoyable thing of beauty as well as a reason for you to have a enjoyable time to retire with a thing of Art. The time invested for the ideas we would like to go along with our 1993 E34 BMW 525it wagon wheels alone can be a costly investment,and one that is one that can be a staggering amount of dollars,and we have discovered these need to be considered for a long time to look at,but also remain the style for years to follow after this decision.

      Lee Farmer The 80's BMW's are the best era of bmw, in my opinion. Quality leather, top notch performance and unbeatable reliability. I've only began to understand the true nature of the 635csi by spending as much time as I did. I'm a fan of wagons and bmw always does them right, sounds like yours will have the right touches to be better than it was from back in the day!

    I just brought a 86 635csi that's been sitting for 10 years. Finally got her running a week ago! However I'm more familiar with my 530i e34s m60b30-40 engines! I plan on keeping track of my cooling system and when they need replaced as what destroys these cars is the cooling system failing. Any other suggestions for getting her to run perfectly? This has also been my dream car since I was a kid too!

    • @MrPati0077
      @MrPati0077  7 лет назад +1

      Ryan Cortiêr Hi, I would do a check up of all the components such as most electrics, grounds, and suspension. I never had any issues with cooling, but wouldn't hurt to switch over to an all aluminum radiator. If you're planning on making a couple extra horsepower then you can switch over to an electric cooling fan. Otherwise leave it as is, might be too big of a headache. Hope this helped! Over all a simple car once you get them running!

    Nice car!👍🏼 You're mostly spot on, but cheap parts? Premium cars such as these, especially older models (pre 82) will make you bleed. As he says, "a non mainstream, special market". The same thing goes for parts. Make sure you have a plan for every letter in the alphabet. If you're abot to land a barnfind or a car that's been sitting - expect new problems on a regular basis when you start driving it. I've swapped my engine for the 7-series M106, while the original engine is up for a complete overhaul.

      Regan Y Thank you! I would suggest buying the front bumper second hand even if the chrome needs to be replaced. There is still a lot of parts in BMW's warehouse. You'd be surprised what they still have. Try going through schmiedmann.com just search the Bmw part number and they will have it. for the most part very competitively priced. I've bought a lot of parts through them, like my gas tank, window seals, body clips etc. Hope that helps you!

      Beau hey thanks for the comment! I hope you reach your goal and best of luck! They are great cars along with the 911s. I'm looking to switch up a few things on the channel by obtaining a new project!

    My 635 is a total ungrateful pig to own and has eaten thousands in time and money. Currently it is puking up all of its brake fluid out of the reservoir when left overnight. You need a good sense of humour to own these cars. Used parts for these in the UK are not affordable and/or are junk. Why do I still own it then? Because I've put it in a garage, locked the door, forgot about it and bought a 2000 Jaguar to use instead... Where bits just crumble off of it and it's even more expensive to fix. If that fails then I have my 2001 land rover V8.... (This isn't getting any better is it?)

    Hey how's it going I was checking out your videos. That's an awesome euro 635 you got there You mentioned that you might be interested in selling those wheels unless you're going to use them on something else because problems with the airbags. Let me know after you acquire another set. Thanks and keep up the good work. God bless

      trebucket1 hey thanks for your comment! I fixed the problem with the rear suspension. I had to adjust the shocks inward at least 1 inch. The wheels are Esm 007 and can be found on ebay. When I bought them the ad said they were applicable to a e39. I love the look of these. I believe they are 10.5 11.5x18. If you pick these up, just be aware that they will require a wheel spacer in the front along with modification to the rear lower control arm.

    Had several 6ers over the years. One that got away was an Italy spec in Cinnabar Red all the switches labeled in Italian
    Those aluminum surrounds for the windows sure are a bitch to get off and on aren't they...

    I'm looking at buying a 635 CSi and the seller claims that the engine and transmission are known for being bulletproof. Is there any truth to this, particularly on an example with 128k miles?

    Love ur car, brother... i have a 2007 530xi and a 2011 550i i am very interested in purchasing a 1985 635csi what is the best way to aquire one?

    • @MrPati0077
      @MrPati0077  6 лет назад +2

      Stephen Spangenberg thank you! They're great cars, and come from an era where BMW was totally different than what they are now. Sounds like you have a great setup with cars, I'm a big fan of all wheel drive bmws. I figure the best way to find a nice 635csi is to search every possible search outlet such as ebay, craigslist, cars.com, autotrader, etc also searchtempest is a good site with everything all in one and can search nation wide with keywords. I found my car locally and bought it because it was so rust free. If I wouldn't of bought this one, I would of end up finding a southern state car. Plus I made it harder on myself because I only wanted a euro spec model and took me about 4 years to find!
      Sorry for the long response to your question, I hope this helps!

    Do the Blue one to exact Original, Values are rising in the UK Faster than Property !
    Never Remove or destroy Originality from any High Value car !
    635 's are £15 - 30 Grand in the UK
    e34's are close to £10 grand and more for later better ones.
    E30's mint are £15 - 18 Grand.
    e30 evo M3 well over £100 Grand !
    Be Careful with BMW soon they will be E-Type/ XKE money or 65 Mustang money !

    Hi! Your e24 looks awesome! Just purchased one for myself and want to change the wheels. What size will fit the best? What's your opinion?

    • @MrPati0077
      @MrPati0077  5 лет назад +1

      The general opinion is 17" rims no bigger. In order to install 18" you either need to install front wheel spacers or modify the shock. Personally I think 18" looks the best!

    • @MrPati0077
      @MrPati0077  7 лет назад

      Pepe x you're welcome! Before doing the air suspension i lowered the bmw about 3 inches front and back. It was a safe height because the offsets would of caused rubbing if I had gone lower. I like the wheels a lot. I've had them for almost 3 years!
