[Spoilers] A lot of people saying that the storyline is trash, that the child abuse was outta nowhere, that the movie is overrated and the only good thing is the music etc And I'm here like 🧍♂️because even if the story was not some kind of interstellar story level I found it amazing and I think it's beautiful how the kids' story paralleled how her mother sacrifed herself to save a complete stranger
Those people who said the child abuse came out of nowhere, isn't life just like that? You move to someplace new be it real life or online and suddenly you encounter abuse, it all just matters to what you gonna do in that situation after you found it out. Like the 3 caller who joined the kid's stream, called out the abuse "should we report it?" laughed it off and left the stream is what most people will do because it's too sudden in their life to be seeing such a thing and help the person. I watched the movie again and there was the news "It's just me and my sons, we live on our own and we are very happy" but one son looks deplated and the other is dazed af. I had an inkling that something is bad but like life when you check news you dont wanna associate with, just slide it away but oh the problem reached her and she had to make research to help the person she has associated with and desperately wants to help. The movie feels very chill and hits you with emotiions at times that doesn't give you hindsight and like I said "just like life because life is too sudden"
I saw this at Anime NYC with a friend of mine who won tickets to watch it at the convention before this movie was to be released in theaters. This is the ONLY movie to make me a sobbing mess with ugly tears and wet boogers...not once...but TWICE!!! Love Mamoru Hosada's work and the movie
i just finished watching Belle, it is so beautiful. When Suzu unveiled herself and she sing this? I cried, this song is freaking beautiful it open something in my heart, I can't stop crying. The movie may not be perfect in some aspects, but I think it didn't fail to covey its message. I mean, it's the time when she realized why her mom helps other even though there are risk.

i, personally, think that this movie is amazing and, for people saying is good only for songs ecc, is not true because the parallel between Suzu's mother death and the fact that Kei and Tomo have no mother, and also that they are saved by Suzu like her mother has done with that child even if she died for that was so beautiful and, ok the songs are so good but the particular thing about this movie is that songs haven't metaphors but the words are so direct, not only to the characters but also to us who watch the movie. I don't, i love all of the concept of this film so much and thestory, music and graphic is all absolutely incredible (sorry for my english, i'm not so good 😅
I think most anime movies talk about child abuse for a reason cuz literally no one speaks for these children, they are trynna tell us something, it’s a story and experience worth listening to and defending we all started as little kids, a little kindness from the world would help a lot of us, only children bring that purity and true happiness even after being crushed their little bodies are filled with so much love and hope and we shouldn’t bully or take them for granted they deserve a voice.

Interesting a movie about bullying was snubbed as bullying was taking place at the Oscars Ceremonies too...
