I am so with you Julie. I have watched several videos to do with resin art and they ALL make it look easy, yet when I try it does not turn out anywhere near what was in the video. The ones I really like are the videos where they say " this is my first time using resin....and look how great it turned out!!! ". ( I think it is more like it is the first time they put it on video)

Julie!! You are my favorite resin artist by far!! I truly believe that we would be fast friends if we lived in the same hemisphere of the Earth!! This splash is so beautiful! When you took it off of the vase and the "tentacles?" Bent down it was so interesting! I loved it that way also. Maybe you could try a three layer one with the short little pokies and the long bendies and the long straight spikies.. Can't wait to watch your next video!!!

Watching your video right now. As you are doing the second bowl and making the folds in the plastic sheet to direct the drips, a thought came to mind. Perhaps you could use clothes pins or binder clips (as we call them in Canada) to hold the plastic folds in place while the resin drips and dries. Interesting video!

Art resin would allow you to pour directly on the plastic (shower curtain works best). You would allow it to thicken just a bit before you pour. It's not as fast curing but it works really well for resin shaping.

  • @Stephanie_Hancock

I've seen others pour the initial resin just flat onto plastic. Making a border out of whatever you can come up with. Then when it's cured a bit and "hung" over the vase, that's when it gets its shape. Afraid yours is going to be too thick in the center. ? Thicker resin cures faster, I think. Exothermic reaction. Oh, a little too early on the second one. Timing is everything on these. I know you like to learn on your own, but check out Sue Findlay. She does awesome resin sculptures. Play on, my dear. You'll get it figured out, you always do.
