    Happy New Year!! More art with a hairdryer! Watch this big bloom blowout! This new color palette was introduced during my live NYE bash; but I knew I had to do it again in my studio. I absolutely love these colors together and felt it looked equally good as a big bloom blowout or as a deconstructed bloom!
    Let me know which painting you prefer, and thanks for following along on my art journey! Thanks for watching!

    THE RECIPE:
    House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG Multi-Pro in Satin at Home Depot.
    Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
    Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
    Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
    Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
    Any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
    For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
    Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + TriArt Carbon Black and Titanium White . 2.5 -1 ratio Floetrol to paint.

I have to agree about the lines - I try to achieve those heavy lines with clearly defined cells and vibrancy (a good color palette, too) Getting there is altogether different 😂 but I’m working on it and watching your work is not only inspiring, it makes me realize it’s possible. ❤

    Hi, Karen! I thoroughly enjoyed your New Year's Eve bash, and I LOVED the first painting! I have questions for you re KS Resin products. I have been buying the KS Liquid Art Ultra, as it is listed as having the best UV resistance. The Liquid Art Elite is listed as a thin formula with UV protection. In the product affiliations section, you note that you buy the Ultra Elite, so I'm wondering if you meant to say Elite? The one I use (Ultra) brings back the colors from the freshly-painted wet look which I love, but I'm not crazy about the plastic appearance this gives to the paintings. Yours don't look that way. So, if you do use the Elite version and use two coats, I'm guessing this gives both good protection but without the overly-plasticized appearance? I wanted to check with you on this, because I would like to have a more natural finish, but I hate the idea of having to go through the resining twice for each painting. Next question: when using two coats of resin, do you find it works best to remove the tape after the first coat and replace with fresh tape (once it has cured) for easier removal after the second resining? Meanwhile, you are my principal inspiration and instructor for (deconstructed) bloom pours. Yours are the best, both color-wise and in composition! I have learned so much from you and am so grateful for all the wonderful tips and help you give us, along with all of the help using the blow dryer appropriately!
    Happy New Year, Susan H.

    • @WaterfallAcrylics
      @WaterfallAcrylics  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Susan! I went to their website to double check and it looks like they have recently updated all of their products! I haven’t had to buy any since October when it was still the Ultra Elite. I’d say 85% of the time I do a second coat but I want the best UV protection possible so will stick with the Liquid Art Ultra UV version. Yes to fresh tape between coats! It makes life easier! Thank you for the lovely comments! ❤️❤️
