Even if you were a well established chunin comfortable in the world of Naruto, seeing Guy and Lee open the gates would be one of the most awesome-terrifying-incredible sights imaginable. Like yeah the tailed beasts are impressive. And the uchiha are cool with their magic eyes. But those two men have nothing but hard work and determination.
Still remember how Itachi and Kisame were afraid of fighting Guy... the Blue Beast on their early Konoha invasion

This is exactly why Guys team wasn’t in Kohona during the Pain invasion haha they def would’ve taken out a few pains. Lee and Guy themselves prob could’ve taken out a few Nejii too most likely
8 gates guy would've soloed Pain before he destroyed the village. Neji likely could take down more than Jiraya facing all at once, same goes for Lee. (Not that they are stronger, or better Shinobi than Jiraya, just that they would both be better matchups against Pain) Neji being that he could read/see through most of what is coming at him, and well 6 gates Lee would've been far too fast for Pain to handle.

Why wasn't this arc released as a movie? The animation was so clean and it never made sense to me.
Cuz it was originally made to commemorate the anime reaching 500 episodes, 223 from OG and almost 300 of shippuden, so they broadcast it for free in a 5 ep filler mini arc.

budget ... better art=more cost. The art was good, the shippuden fights and even OG naruto fights are very well animated just not as polished as this clip.

Haven't you guys notice that when lee and guy use the first gates all the way to the 7th they don't have to worry about breaking bones and tearing muscles anymore?
Their bodies seem to have acclimated to the stress.
Both Guy and Lee can use 5 gates without any injuries. But it's still taking toll on their bodies.
For one they aren't using anything higher than 6th since lee can't use anything above 6th anyways and we see guy go through the side effects in the war. It's just that they aren't using it for a long period of time
they just feel muscolar stress, like when you don't go to the gym in a month
I always assumed that’s another reason they worked out so much. To train their bodies to acclimate to incredible stress.

This filler was one of my favorites. The story arc was kinda all over the place, but I loved that they changed the animation style. It made everything look so much smoother.
This was also the first time we saw a pre-Nine Tails Chakra mode. Naruto unlocked a new form but you might say it was more raw than concentrated Nine Tails Chakra. It looked dope though
