Ethnic studies are multidisciplinary encompassing various fields such as anthropology, sociology, history, political science, etc. So what you would be able to do with a BA in those other fields are just as limited as a degree in Pan African Studies, Asian American Studies, Latin American Studies etc.

@3beepu Most obviously is an academic one, just as I sought as a philosophy major, though there are probably more. But that such a job may be the only available one does not diminish the importance of the content within the lectures and courses. This is cultural capital that enriches everyone's lives no matter what professions they go on to take.

besides teaching African American Studies, I suppose any job that requires working with a largely AA group of people, like in a government or idk.
At least it proves you can read and write at a college level. You could also easily enter a graduate degree program in, say, History or whatever, which leads wherever...

Brilliant lecture - such diversity of thought in the black community. Love the gender conscious. Where is the rest of the series? All the people with non critical, fruitless and negative comments are hilariously pathetic. "Im so upset about history, I'm overwhelmed by white guilt.. how can I maintain my comfortable delusional" You obvious cannot attack the legitimacy of the content so you resort to attacking the utility of the degree pretty pathetic - how many of you are UCLA lectures with published books tho? I'll wait. 😩😓

I know. Dumbest fucking thing I've seen all year. Race is real. The neolites of Africa have absolutely 0% neanderthal dna. Samoans and tognan skull structures actually have traces of every other race in the world. Certain medical conditions can only be found in certain races. Anyone who isn't an ass hat could easily do a google search and find this research. This professor and this major is a joke.

maybe not a move with a high expected monetary value, but who are you to say it's not a good one for some people? Besides, most students will just take one or two classes in this subject, not major.

    • @thehoneyprophet

Paul Kersey you cannot attack the legitimacy of the content so you attack the utility of the degree. But are you a UCLA lecturer with publishing rights? Hmmm. I'm sure these student will turn out better than fine. you on the other hand are already LOST.
