It's very true that electrical and battery lighting are safer than any Gas lighting. There are even LED Lantern designs from companies like Coleman and Dorcy. However, there are numerous parts of the world that aren't fortunate enough yet to have regular access to battery powered Lanterns. They still need Hurricane/Blizzard Lanterns and modernized Gas mantle designs powered by Kerosene, White Gas, or Propane. Also, Gas Lanterns can still come in use for camping trips during colder weather as they emit heat.
Awe yes... the party line. Being a teenager back then, we had 2 ore 3 other households with teenagers on the line and it was often hard to make or receive calls. such was the life of rural America. Fond memories.
They needed to do better research on this. A lot of the samples of the short wave radios were from the 1950s. Also showed 21st century cars with "running boards".
Hybrid airships capable of landing without any ropes are currently being experimented with. Though even if they manage to work out, it's likely they'll be restricted to carrying cargo or equipment to remote areas almost entirely for a very long time.
Ah, party lines were still used through the 60s in rural NC. We had one. Lunch boxes, being metal, were the problem, seen as a weapon, the corners, in some areas. In our location now, kids have to use clear backpacks for school. And absolutely stupid idea. Hand cranking a car, still available in the early 60s on some English cars, like an MG. You didn't want to try this. It's extremely difficult, it takes muscle and can be dangerous. It's better just to push it and pop the clutch. Pumps you have to prime with water? Try having a location with no electrical power. Say at an outbuilding, at a barn, or a field where you need to provide water to livestock. As long as you have a bucket of water, you can prime it, and you can hand pump water up. These pumps are extremely dependent, easily fixed. Yes have a well pump is nice, but you have to run infrastructure to use it.
Back then most people were thin. All the work and home cooking. Today people have almost no hard work and eat less healthy. No wonder people are getting so fat. The food of today is NOT the problem, it is laziness. Most walk a few hundred feet a day, sitting in automobiles , sitting watching TV, even automobiles just push button to open doors or trunk. Kids do not gather and play games or ride bicycles around. That is the problem.

Some of this was not so ancient. My family used various hand pumps, a wood fueled kitchen range and outhouses right into 1974.
How many people today would know what a washboard road is??

hello dear sir
Back then most people were thin. All the work and home cooking.
Today people have almost no hard work and eat less healthy. No wonder people are getting so fat.
The food of today is NOT the problem, it is laziness. Most walk a few hundred feet a day, sitting in automobiles , sitting watching TV, even automobiles just push button to open doors or trunk.

That is the problem.
