For those new to depopulating circuit boards: if going down the heat route, remove aluminium can capacitors before applying heat. The capacitors have oil inside and can explode if they get hot causing burns. Speaking from experience...
You're right about those little black bricks. Tantalum capacitors have a clearly marked positive side. Older ones have a plus, newer have a white end (or both). They don't work if soldered on in reverse hence the marking.
Great video. I may have to try the torch and bucket method for the through hole stuff. Should beat pulling the pins by hand! Looking forward to seeing your next video.
@@keithrodman9318 I KR , I fin when pulling by hand you don’t have as much solder on the pins , this method however would be a. Good application for removing sockets .
Me brother I am going to crush into a fine powder in a home made ball mill and use gravity separation. the beautiful tin is first on my list. Going to have to start soon 😮😮😮
Awesome episode brother

Yeah, I learned that at the cost of my first pizza oven .....
Nice job , Carpet squares grab PCB really well .i cut up the boards to fit in the AP bucket after depopulating .

@empirefinds every one talks about tin.... I seen one series on it. He had quite the go at it but got it. I hear it's pretty valuable.
@ScroogeMcDuckn 35000 per tonne brother the most abundant metal in ewaste the stuff big companies keep to there self's
@empirefinds ill wait to see the series. I have alot of questions but I'm sure they will get answers then .
The red ones from 1970 are 0.02 grams balls of 24k not plate. Get one and hammer into a foil lovely stuff save them suckers
@empirefinds i find them alot, had one dissolve, it was larger , from a game system, a tip switch.. I think
@ScroogeMcDuckn you mainly find them in military grade tech and telecoms from 1970 to 1982
Nice job .
