      Well.....
I think people think Sam is better in season 3 than the other seasons because her character was more focused on her PTSD than......... Her talking or being obnoxious.
Which I and most people agree of
Plus all the world to Mary mouser
Imagine playing a character you disagree with. (She said that in one of the videos of the cast doing the cobra kai quiz(I'm that much of a fan to know this)).

My favorite videos are the videos when you rip on Sam! To be honest only thing that could save her character in my eyes is owning up to her mistakes and admitting she's been a self centered bitch for a long ass time and literally changing her ways. One of the first people she'd need to apologize to is Aisha. Then Tory, then Miguel, then Robby. Either that or she becomes a full blown villain and everyone unites to take her down.

Right. Except in season 3 it does seem (at least to me) that they made a lot of effort to do away with the gray area regarding Sam and have her come across as the good girl “you go girl” strong woman with legit struggles vs the bad girl “that bitch is crazy” who does extreme things for no good reason psycho Tory. Or perhaps it’s just because her dealing with fear and ptsd just makes her very sympathetic at least on first watch.

@ethereal flower Yeah, Tory LOVED Miguel so much that she NEVER went to the hospital to see him. Never called, or texted. Nothing, never.
Tory moved in on Miguel because they started off on the wrong foot, He was the top dog at her new school, and inserted herself when she saw the opportunity to rub salt in a wound. I don't care for Sam, but Tory is a straight up bitch.
Sam at least has conscience, instilled by her parents that built their fortune, but her conscience is constantly clashing with her "princess" status and plastic clique.
Tory was willing to commit murder because Sam and Miguel kissed, while knowing that Miguel still had feelings for Sam, because she was so anxious to get her shots in she couldn't let Miguel get over his first girlfriend.

Sam comes from a privileged life, having a good home with a caring family that taught many good qualities. Where she is flawed is that she knows things abstractly, as in understanding the idea of things, but she wasn’t truly understanding those concepts like Miguel, Tory, Johnny, Robby and Daniel because they didn’t or don’t come from privileged homes. Those 5 had to fight to gain that understanding to gain their success and open their mind, Sam didn’t have to do that until the big school brawl and eventually, very slowly, is getting those lessons. Watch Party does it right, she does things without noticing what she’s doing, something many teenagers do, sometimes having double standards and self-centered; common traits found in many teenagers. She’s slowly truly understanding how life is and what can be right and wrong depending on perception.

Totally true yet if you watch the show from season 1 to season 3, Sam has been antagonist towards Cobra Kai first it was Miguel should switch dojo then people can argue all they want she set her sights on Tory since country club and she found out she was dating Miguel and in Cobra Kai. She wanted to push Tory she was stalking her on the phone watching her train she was getting ready to fight her period yet no one brings that up. Tory decided like most people I have had enough of this antagonist its on and really who can blame her if you watch this show Sam has attacked her, attacked Cobra Kai at the gym and laser tag room then is getting everyone together to fight them again Tory hears about this meeting and attacks them on her terms. The point Tory made about this ends tonight I think was her telling Sam no more dodging me at the gym and laser tag room I am going to pick the spot we fight and you will face me! That was what I took from it all. Everyone is the bad guy in there own story in Sam she tells Miguel no excuse for her to be a bully yet in Tory mind Sam is antagonist accusing me of stealing then bad mouthing me to kissing my man she is tasking me to react. To be fair the school fight Tory called out Sam and took it to her until Robbie actually stopped it, the fight only kept going because Miguel defend his girl ( Tory) because he seen Robbie had his hands on her. That's a no no one thing you never do is put your hands on a women. That actually started the whole school all out brawl If your being honest that's what happen. So sadly Miguel told Sam he was with Tory and stopped the kiss then defended Tory in the school fight clearly if he would of told Tory I am with you and I told Sam exactly that this whole mess would of never happen. Tory and Miguel would still be together and Robbie and Sam those pairings are the best for all of them hands down.

@@dalelapointe9289 Robby tried to stop the fight between Sam and Tory, but Miguel saw the hand on Tory and thought he was attacking her. This whole situation happened between them because of huge misunderstandings that costed a lot. I’m not excusing Sam for what she did, all I’m saying is that errors were made because emotions were high. Sam is a spoiled brat that knows more than she understand until the brawl, Tory is stressed from the life she has lived with her sick mother and looking out for her little brother so she will bite anyone who destroys her little peace of mind, Robby has yet to truly learn what it meant to be forgiving and let things go and Miguel was in the middle of everything so he didn’t get the full picture but he doesn’t hold grudges, unlike the other previous three mentioned

Sam defending herself and then looked at as crazy because she’s a woman is very unfair and a double standard. Tory really did go crazy. She didn’t want to beat Sam up. She was intending to kill her. She then invaded her house to kill Sam again. Now raising your arm in public might look odd without context, but trying to end someone’s life because they kissed your boyfriend is crazy. Being awkward in public and even cheating, while not the best, are NOT crimes that can send you to jail. Trying to kill someone is. Your comparison and analysis is way WAY off.

Sam is not a hypocrite nor invalidates feminism for one reason. The context for the motivations of Sam’s aggression and Tory’s were completely different. What I believe Sam meant was that Tory had no right going crazy because Tory was not under threat. Therefore, considering Tory was the perpetrator of violence at the school over a non-life threatening reason then that’s what I mean when I say the context was right for Sam to assume Tory chose to go crazy. Sam’s context for showing aggression when noticing people talking about her might have been due to the impact of gender stereotypes along with the violence she had received. My point is that if Sam’s reaction to this was a self-defence reaction to the socially damaging stereotypes out there and for acting in self defence then Sam could have thought she had legitimate grounds to claim she was not the crazy one. Like I said, the context for the motivation behind the violence of Sam and Tory, including their reasons were completely different, which could mean that Sam may well have used the word crazy appropriately when taking into account the difference in aggressive motivation contexts. What we all have to remember is that there’s many people out there who do judge women and girls as ‘crazy’ just for defending themselves. Also, determining whether some comment is appropriate to make by a given person highly depends on the context of the situation

How can Samantha’s actions destroy feminism when she has never declared herself to be a feminist in the first place? Double standards exist whether for men or women. Just because Samantha cited the double standard about girls fighting and then contradicted herself later on does not mean that double standards do not exist. She is a flawed character just like the other characters in the show, and just like real people. Also, feminism is more than just double standards, and if you ever bother to know more about feminism and the movement beyond what you see in social media, you’ll understand this better.

She avoided serving alcohol when uniting both Eagle Fang and Miyagi Do. She stood up for Demetri when Hawk wrecked his science project. She defended Demetri from Hawk at the mall. And she saved the all valley tournament with Miguel's help. And she trained her friends to defend themselves against CK when her dad was in Okinawa. And she's undoubtedly loyal to her dad and Miyagi Do. And she's the only Miyagi Do student that's never been in CK and has never considered being in CK. @Anti Sam Larusso Hawk may have been right about his little sleeping comment, but that didn't give him the right to just change the subject about him destroying Demetri's science project. She tried telling him to stop, but Hawk wouldn't listen. So what if Sam was training her friends to start fights with CK? The CK kids aren't just a normal group of kids who will leave them alone like when they beat up poor Nate, destroyed Demetri's science project, and bothered Chris at work, so Sam thought she was protecting her friends by starting fights with them until after the arcade fight, which is when she realized starting fights ain't the way either. I gave the credit to saving the tournament to Miguel too. The rest of what you wrote is just painting Sam as a villain without evidence to back up that Sam would ever have any of those intentions you ranted about. This is just you being mad that I am one of the very few fans that can see Sam isn't a villain, and I don't leave details out, unlike biased Sam haters like you.

    • @CarolineForbesAndTaylorSwift
      @CarolineForbesAndTaylorSwift 3 года назад +4

@Anti Sam Larusso She wanted Miguel to see what his psycho girlfriend did to her, so he can see what kind of person Tory really is. Sam may not be entirely innocent, but Miguel cheating on Tory with Sam does not give Tory the right to use Sam as her punching bag. Miguel would've apologized to her for cheating had she not beat up Sam. Sam doesn't own an apology to Tory, it's Miguel who owed an apology to her. Sam wasn't interfering, she was trying to tell Hawk to leave Demetri alone. Sam may have been jealous seeing Tory with Miguel, but hearing about Miguel returning the medal of honor is what changed her feelings for Miguel. So what if Sam fake tripped to get Miguel's attention, she and Miguel both had feelings for each other. You only want to blame Sam for the kiss, but Miguel was perfectly sober and didn't have to kiss her back, but he did bc he likes her too. If CK didn't want miyagi do to have all the credit for Miguel's surgery, they should've just participated in the car wash or raised the money by themselves, instead of having to resort to assault and plagiarism for something they worked squat for. How dare you try to justify Hawk destroying Demetri's science project. Demetri was minding his own business, and Hawk just wrecks it. Hawk already punished Demetri for that stuff in s2 at the school fight. Why does he need to bully Demetri any further? What CK did to Chris may not have been a very big deal(that was Chris's fault), but it was a big deal to Chris, so Sam thought she was standing up to CK for Chris. Sam started the soccer fight bc she didn't like that Hawk got away with destroying Demetri's science project, so she wanted to get CK in detention, which ended up backfiring only on her and her friends ending up in detention and CK getting off scot free, so she knew she couldn't start fights at school anymore. Plus, the soccer fight was kind of funny bc they should be kicking a ball into a net but instead, they choose to kick each other's faces. 😂

She technically won, sure. But she had to go to the hospital for stitches and cracked ribs. And stay overnight for observation. Tory went to karate class later that day with Hawk and the others. Plus she rightly was feeling guilt for the school fight and all that led to it, Miguel getting severely injured and Robby on the run then juvie. Also Miguel’s fall happened shortly after Tory got kicked down the steps but wasn’t out of commission. I always imagined they were collecting themselves watching the end of a Miguel and Robby and if Miguel didn’t fall then Tory going after Sam again as security finally shows up.

Sam was struggling and trying to defend herself for the whole fight, Sam wasn't the one being crazy. Sam was right to say Tory is crazy. Sam doesn't want to have a reputation for being crazy because she really isn't. As mentioned earlier, she was struggling and trying to defend herself. I think Sam is the normal, spoiled teen that wants it all, and is now trying to navigate the waters of things not going her way. Tory is the girl that is used to things not going her way, sees what she wants, and goes for it no matter the cost. Tory seems the reactionary type, responding to threats as they come. I thought Sam was the most believable character in season 3, and that is saying something because all of the characters were written well. I didnt really identify with her or fall into that damsel in distress thing. She was just really well done and became my favorite character in season 3 because of how well she was written.
Tory IS crazy lol. Sam being treated differently than Miguel or Hawk is true. What Tory did was not winning a fight, what she did was nuts. She attacked the announcement girl, and attacked Sam and wouldn't stop even when Sam asked her to.
Miguel also acted crazy. He should have helped Robby separate the girls. Miguel also acted out of character in that scene and it was one of the few mistakes made by the writers. It should have been Hawk attacking Robby, Robby gaining the upper hand and Miguel intervening to save Hawk, initiating the fight between Miguel and Robby. Tory is canonically crazy. She's supposed to be screwed up from her home life. Miguel isn't supposed to be screwed up. They just wrote him doing something that he wouldn't do.

It's not surprising that Sam thought Tory was the theif since Tory had already admitted to theft and since Sam hadn't gone along with that theft, it was reasonable to think that Tory had taken exception and decided to steal Amanda's wallet in retaliation. Sam went about that confrontation very poorly. She should have texted Aisha something like, "My mom is missing her wallet. Can you just check or verify to me that your new friend didn't steal it?" Aisha could have texted back that she had been with Tory the entire time and would not have allowed her to do something like that.

I don't consider it a damsel in distress thing at all because if it had been a male character in that exact situation, no one would be saying that. Also, no one saved her. She saved herself. That is a heroes journey. She started out season 3 very weak and incapable and gained her strength in the end.
We will get nothing but Reys and Captain Marvels if people complain about "damsels in distress" whenever a female character has weaknesses. Weaknesses and struggle are what make a character worth watching.
Watching them get stronger and more capable is an enjoyable experience. That can't happen if they are perfect from the start.

As far as Sam goes calling Tory crazy for fighting , I did originally think it was Tory who called her out on the speakers and then starting the whole school fight , but then again, in season 3 Sam leads the charge against them where Demeteri gets his arm broke. I don't think starting fights necessarily makes anyone crazy , but Tory does have anger issues greater maybe than anyone else , with Robby somewhere behind her .
Do you think that's realistic that those unknown girls laughed at Sam for fighting ? I'm sure some would, but what would they have done ? Lay there and get beat on ? Perhaps Sam does have a point that women fighting does seem odd to other females and is more of a masculine act, and that's true , it doesn't mean that all females will stay away from it when forced to do so.

With her wealthy upbringing, she could have easily been another Anthony or Yasmine who's obsessed with their looks, phone and material possessions, but she is quite the opposite. She experienced her own share of hardship as she was the target of date rape, cyber bullying, and slut shaming from Kyler in season 1, and violent assaults from Tory in seasons 2 and 3. I'm actually really surprised that Sam's line contrasting boys with girls winning made it past the censors given the third wave feminism of today. I'm glad it was said. As a woman opposed to feminism I must say that there's something unnatural about a woman having to fight physically, even if it's necessary for self-defense, and it sometimes definitely is. And even if she wins, having to fight still involves an unfortunate state of affairs. Men are required to fight, both defensively as well as offensively, and we can't escape the naturalness of male victory.

Sam is an interesting complex character that people love to hate and it’s easy to see why. People have less sympathy for characters they can’t relate to and Sam is hard to relate to as she is presented as innocent and elite, seen in her wardrobe she’s always wearing purple and pink. I find many of your arguments valid she is a hypocrite and self centred but so are many characters they are all flawed which is why it’s such a good show. I feel many fans that are harsh on Sam are just sexist as she is the typical girlie girl yet is still strong. I enjoyed how your video showed these different viewpoints

Good video though i don’t entirely agree with it. In 303 she was saying Tory was crazy because of their rivalry and Sam and Tory just had it out for eachother, from her pov Tory was crazy(Tory is a psycho). But in 301, that cringy dialogue was saying that people were calling her crazy just based off the fact that she fought. I do like Sam and i think she is a good character, but i also know that she is pretty self centered at some times, and the daughter of a rich daniel (even though cant really control that). She has her flaws just like every character on the show, nice video man!

Interestingly unless I’m remembering wrong no one that we hear actually ever calls her crazy though. She just assumes it. She even assumed those girls in school were talking about her. But we never hear what they were saying or if it even had to do with Sam.
Also Sam is the only one to call Tory crazy.
Tory never calls Sam crazy. She does call her a bitch though. Other than Sam no one calls Tory crazy either. Tory is the one who says she thinks that’s what Miguel is implying and that she thinks everyone else thinks she’s crazy too.

Your analysis is smart, but you attack only Sam's character over traits that all teenagers exhibit. In fact, most adults use hypocrisy and double standards to their benefit. Teenage girls are especially vulnerable in their emotions. They need and seek attention and validation all the time. Teenage boys are inherently more closed off and "secure" in their ways. You don't have issues with Tory because she acts like a boy. She has all the emotional characteristics of a boy. That's why guys tend to prefer her over Sam, imo.

    • @Blackbird36100
      @Blackbird36100 3 года назад +2

@Anti Sam Larusso The difference is that the boys use Sam as their hub. Everyone is connected to her. Miguel sought her out. So did Robby. So did Kyler. Just so happens that they are all enemies. No matter what choices Sam makes, shes comes off as the villain to someone. Tory has caused plenty of problems. If you want to blame Sam for the kiss, blame Miguel more. He knew she was drunk. She had told him to leave her alone several times. He didn't. That kiss was 100% perpetrated by Miguel. She's a single person that all sides of the rivalry have ties to. That's going to cause conflict without her even doing anything.

Its kind of amusing that you flipped most of your points to make her character unlikable. Tory is very crazy and it showed when she went to attack the girl instead of checking her boyfriend who was trash for cheating on her. She also proved how crazy she was in season 3 and she constantly uses her mother being sick as an excuse to do reckless behavior. Then to add insult to injury you keep calling her crazy because she held her arm up and looked at her scar and the staircase to take her power back and not let it faze her. You just don't like her character at all which is fine, but to make bashing videos on her and flip everything she does that is positive into a negative is ridiculous.
