@@wisedred it looked so wierd though. Like the performance was cool but this is a cosplay competition. The Totoro suit is incredibly complex, the creator has an raspberry pi rig the eyes so they move with his eyes. It even blinks not to mention the complex puppetry to move the hands and legs. How could all that be trumped by a balloon glued to naruto and sasukes a$$? I'm thinking that since the competition was in Japan the organisers had to select japanese participants to win likely for advertisers. Team Japan hasnt been winning in 12 years, pretty humiliating considering the subject matter for the competiton is 99% based on japanese entertainment.
@@1RNik I don't think they won because they are Japanese. We can't really say any of the two played on nostalgia either, as both are strong pop culture references. I rather believe they rate this as a "cosplay show", combining "cosplay" and "show" together. A lot of things were most logically in play: - number of cosplays/contestants' presence balance - complexity of the cosplays - accuracy of the cosplays - presence of a storyline/use of props - rich choreography - overall ambiance and crowd reception While I agree that Totoro's costume is by far the best cosplay I've ever seen; there were flaws: - no complex choreography; - eyes were either on the screen to understand what was going on, or on Totoro, no eyes for the girl (unbalanced attention. it's a team work, not just eyes on 1 person). Team Japan's show had relatively accurate cosplays, they played with lightning, a complex choreography (not everyone can jump like they did), and a strong ambiance from the background audio. Their only flaw was that they couldn't create IRL ghosts, which I think is understandable. Based on the scale I thought of, if we were to give 10 for each category, Team Sweden would get 4+8+10+7+2+5 (36/60) while Team Japan would get 8+4+8+9+10+9 (48/60). Now, I've never watched Naruto and my memories of Totoro are around 10 years old, but as a combined show and cosplay show-off, it's only objective to say that TJ's was overall better than TS's.
I am absolutely in shock with how good this looks. UGH. Like everything was just perfect✨🩷. The costume, the mobility, the background imagery, the short story show, the music uh. Just everything absolute perfection 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷.
I dunno how these competitive cosplay is judged but I guess if someone went and did something like the Gundam IBO Barbatos Lupus vs Hashmal fight would be awesome to see. I have my preferences for mecha though so that is affected by my personal bias.
I'm impressed seeing Totoro's eyes and mouth move on top of having mobility with both arms in the costume. That is some fantastic puppetry!
It's a RC system to control the eyes.
The ears moving around and bouncing is so cute!
if this is second place, i wonder how even more amazing first is
Just searched for it. It's a Naruto cosplay. To be honest this one looks way more impressive than the winner (and not as overdone as Naruto).
The first was garbage. They had inflatable Jinchūriki Forms which made them look like constipated balloons.
@@1RNik i wouldn't go as far as to call it garbage, it's not that easy to make... less appealing than this totoro for sure but not garbage either.

Ghibli should contact them to buy the idea for the Ghibli Park. This Tororo is really well done!
The jump is so cute
The mouth I get bit I didn’t expect him to BLINK
This is hands down the cutest cosplay I have ever seen. 🥰
Wow. I want to hug this Totoro

Those who play as Satsuki and Totoro are Swedish!!
Well, it is Team Sweden.
If that was 2nd place, I'd really like to see what was 1st!
Now I got a plot bunny where Totoro used to live in the Pokemon world but got sick at getting chased around by ambitious trainers
Esta presentación debió haber ganado, mucho mejor que el equipo de Japón.
El cosplay de totoro estuvo genial, pero la presentación está súper aburrida
Why did i read it as 10 years ago 💀
I was looking for the seam… where is the seam!!??? S/he even turned around!!!!
Any mascot that can smile that huge... Is perfect for horrror 😂
I just saw legs.
this should of gotten first place instead of the Naruto blow up dolls..
Me coming here thinking it was a coldplay video...
Second?!! who was the first???😭
Team Japan 😁
not bad but the totoro at the Barbican theatre is better
Lo único bueno es el Totoro, por lo demás...aburrido 🥱
2nd place this SHIT ?
this is terrifying….. hardly call it a perfect cosplay lmao
