  • The world seen from the heap. I'm discovering Silesia in Poland by bike.
I would like to show you how to explore Upper Silesia by bike, but not on routes, each from a slightly different perspective. Not everyone has been to the heap and doesn't know that it can be interesting. Firstly, the views are unusual, Secondly, the ascent is more difficult than riding along the park alleys, Thirdly - amazing descents :-). I rode the heaps by bike, but you can do it on foot or by motocross bike.
The first place I visited was the Rock Heap in Łaziska Górne. After a fairly solid climb, I could admire the Łaziska Power Plant, the Bolesław Śmiały Mine, the panorama of Tychy, Mikołów, Katowice and Łaziska. Sometimes you can see the Beskids, but this time I wasn't able to see it.
The second dump was the Marta Waleska heap, which is also located in Łaziska Górne. The driveway is much gentler and offers views from a different perspective of Łaziska and, of course, the Bolesław Śmiały mine and the Skalny heap and the power plant in the background.
The next heap that I visited was the heap in Kostuchno in Katowice. Here I also had the chance to bike around the heap area, admiring the industrial landscape around me. And above all, the view of the city where I live, Tychy.
Four stone's throws and I was at the Hałda w Murcka (Hałda Murckowska) in Katowice, of course. I was here twice in a week, because a few days earlier I was walking here at night during EDK. And at the top of the heap in Murcki there is a Cross (and at the same time a station of the Extreme Way of the Cross). The views are not spectacular, but there is something else to see there. The video shows what :-)
The heap on Wesoła in Mysłowice is difficult to access to the highest part. I couldn't get there on a bike, so I climbed to the heap on foot. This heap also has a lower part that you can easily ride the wheel onto, there is even a seat there.
I also couldn't forget about Hałda in Lędziny (Hałda Lędzińska) because it has its own unique charm and is the most interestingly shaped, and thanks to this you can meet there a positive motocross team that has had passion from an early age. They ride their machines really well.
The last stage of visiting the heaps in Upper Silesia was Streptococci, i.e. Heaps in Bieruń. It is a set of 5 heaps in the shape of truncated cones. You can organize strong running training here, have a picnic, or just relax and look at the world from the top of the heap.
Someone might say that I didn't show the Szarlot Heap, but why discover America twice? here they are known to me and frequented outside Skalne.
A visit to the heaps of Upper Silesia by bike was an unconventional experience for me. I travel a lot, but visiting the heaps allowed me to look at Upper Silesia from a different perspective and discover its less popular corners. Now I can honestly recommend such a trip to anyone - by bike, on foot or by motorbike :-)
What's interesting in Silesia this weekend? you already know
