Grant. This is literally my swing. I have been working with an awesome coach that identified everything you've identified in Jonathan's swing. It's amazing to live vicariously through Jonathan and pick up your tips and tricks for fixing his swing. Thank you for this sick content, and keep it up!
This is fantastic, this lad has exactly the same misses as me, I've learnt so much from this, can't wait to hit the range a try to implement what you showed him. Thanks Grant.😊
Loving seeing amateur people on the channel. It is hard to replicate others that are much more skilled than us, but seeing common issues that can be relatable helps us go out and start trying to fix it. I have a similar over the top I’m trying to fix and this motivates me to go practice and real practice this feeling
One tip that helped my driver slice and close the club face is from Padraig Harrington, put a tee behind the ball, in line with your back foot. Make your normal swing but act like you are trying to hit the tee, it will make you close the club face where you should. First swing I did with it, perfect 245 yard draw. Previously 215 yards with a cut on a good day. I do think the lad in the video would benefit from this.
@@Fairwayyeti ooo I like this. Definitely have to give it a try on the range since mine are just slight push fade, but a good day I hit a nice fade. Thank you!
This was a great and simple lesson to correct swing path. I will definitely be incorporating this into my practice as I struggle with the same issue with path.
This lesson was great to watch and it resonated with me, I went to the range and practiced hitting with that inside out feel and it helped a ton, thanks grant!
Dude this is the BEST content. I have “somewhat” fixed my driver from listening to Grant through other videos. Still a work in progress but the way he explains the technique is sooo easy to comprehend. 🔥 keep it up bro!
Great video! This was word for word what we were working on today at my lesson. Having a big issue coming from the inside in my driver, trying to hit my pocket has been a hard transition to figure out
My only issues with youtube golf lessons is that if the person hits a fade, the teacher gets them to hit a draw, and if they hit a draw, they change it to a fade. Still, you are clearly a great teacher!
Wrong, any good golf teacher will want you to hit a baby draw. There may still be things to work on or they might help you learn to hit a fade if you normally hit a draw but that’s just not true
Hey Grant! Can you do a putting video with your claw grip? Trying out the claw and wanted to see a great putter like you go through setup, your stroke, and what you think about to hit your lines. Thanks for the videos!
It would be a dream to get a lesson from Grant! I'm a high handicap with all those same swing patterns. Love this content. Hoping to be able to put this into practice in my own game!
This lesson was for me. I got fitted for a driver this spring and steep outside in is my move. The stronger grip. The headcover swing line. The forearm turn. All things I have been working on. I would add a right shoulder drop at address with the driver. It helps me stay tucked.
Yep, Jonathans problem with the driver is the same as mine, and like Jonathan I also can't (yet) stop that over the top move by swinging out to the right.
I used your driver and chipping technique today. Very helpful. I still need to work on my consistency in both, but overall it was an improvement. If you ever 'randomly give lessons' the next time you are on Oahu, I will be on the lookout. ;)
G! Stick that alignment stick into the ground behind the ball and force him to come from the inside! The mind and golf is a tricky combination sometimes and you need something like this to force it if it doesn't happen with the head cover trick.
Long backswing, crosses the line at the top, over-the-top move in transition, steepens the shaft on the downswing, outside-to-in swing path … this swing pattern creates a left-to-right ball flight. The miss is going to be a big cut or a dead pull left. Grant is making a big change in this gentleman’s swing. Very interesting to watch. Thanks, Grant.
It’s a good job you posted a description of his swing. It’s not like we could all see that and could also see what Grant was trying to fix here. So thanks for that 👍
@@briand3362 It’s a *very common* swing pattern for amateurs. Honestly, I think it’s easier to refine that pattern than try to totally change it, as Grant appears to be doing in this video. I’m not saying it cannot be done, but it will take an immense amount of work on this gentleman’s part. It was interesting to see what Grant’s approach was with this pattern because I’m sure he sees it a lot.
@temporarystranger95 I have been getting lessons, and this is the same approach my club pro went with. Changed my whole swing to in to out with the same aim points. I do find after 9 holes I fall back into my old ways
This is awesome! Man… wish you would stroll up to my range and help me with my swing lol. Although, I feel like I want a chipping and putting lesson. Gonna have to travel out to Lincoln, California one day! Keep up the great work!
I like to have a second alignment stick. One for my feet and one for my path. You can aim that yellow alignment stick a little right so he can swing along that path towards the headcover.
dudes gotta get his trail elbow more tucked and in front of him in the downswing. gonna be hard for him to get an in to out path with his elbow pinned to his side unless he completely backs out of it
You did a video at Bro Hof in Sweden once. I play on a course 5 minutes away from that one and I've been hoping you'll just randomly show up at the range to fix my garbage swing. A boy can dream right? Love these videos.
I went through all them drills as a young bloke to no avail.. your swing action as Ernie Els once said is part of you.. At the age of 35 I just about had enough of lessons going nowhere so in frustration I ended up marking the driver grip with a white point at address in terms of my eye line to the ground facing the ball and then asked the club fitter to twist the grip 1’5mm clockwise.. So on address I still had the white dot on the same eye line which closed the club face just that fraction I’ve never hit a slice since and went from shooting 90-98 per round to 75-85 consistently
Great job Grant! If the kid will just rewatch this video a few times he will straighten out that driver - he looks to me like he is subconsciously thinking he has to lift the ball but just watching this and throwing that head over don the ground he will groove that flaw right out!
Nice one Grant. I'm the opposite. I hit draws and my miss is a block. So I try and feel like I'm coming over the top, just to get the path back on a better line. It's a crazy game 🤣
Grant i need your help please!! I have the same Driver problem but if I try to do a Inside-Out swing movement and be more shallow to not come from outside-in I so often hit the ball on top of my driver … do you have a little tip? Love your vids!!
I just played my first round of golf in Florida on Sunday. Man, the grass down there is crazy compared to the northeast. That Bermuda is like nothing I ever experienced in my short golf experience
I always see people say this. Can u explain I play in jersey so what would u say the difference is in the rough here just regular grass and then Bermuda
nice to see been watching youtube golf a few years now, and its just getting more and more about trying to get the biggest names on screen this is what i think youtube golf should be more like giving to those who contribute to your success, fair play
Dudes pivot is setting himself up for his right to left path. Can even tell by his right foot lifting so much. Hope he can compensate for it with the hands and/or setup.
I am crying in my tears why this don’t happen to me on the range I have a little bit more wild backswing than this guy Grant you are the best. I am subscribing to you. Hope you beat Bryson with subscriptions on both of your channels.
Bryson talks about the same move. See Bryson's lesson with Grant!! B.A.D seems to have a really weak L hand grip, too. Noticeable during the Master's. Getting a bit too weak??? He double crossed himself a few times at Augusta. Hope that he spends more time with Grant Horvat!!
Grant! As senior golfer I have struggled with poor contact with my irons. I don't get the Compression and the yardage that I should be. Is there a drill I can try to improve my ball striking?
To get more compression and have better contact overall you have to focus on hitting the ball first and the ground second. If you have a tendency of scooping, something that helped me was to put about 60% weight on my front foot to help almost cheat to make sure I get my weight transferring and body shifting a bit forward. This helps with that contact part for me.
Truthfully you need to improve the backswing take away move with the shaft pointed to belly to return to a good strike position. The better turn you make, the better front swing. Also I focus on looking at the front of the ball, never the back of the ball with irons.
I think this was meant to be. I'm a 8 handicap and I've completely lost my swing and I'm coming so far over the top atm and im shotting around 22 over. Grant you explain in ways that make it so simple to understand! I'd love to see a good explanation on stronger and weaker grips and what the effects would be.
I have a similar problem. I hit weak shots out to the right because I'm leaving the club face open. Anyone know a good drill to help me close the face? I don't really know what feeling I'm looking for.
I have the same issue with driver. Like with this guy I have found it way easier to change my path with irons and literally added 15 metres with every iron and have had to adjust on the course to take account of that. But I cannot do it with driver for some reason. On the range I try to exaggerate the action and often end up with massive hooks so clearly not ‘feeling’ the path with driver in hand.
Hook your boy up with a lesson. I’ll get you a free round at a course I’m a member at in gulf breeze Florida. Tiger pointe is a beautiful course. Punched a few weeks ago and it is starting to look pristine.
Problem with his swing is the left arm works too much back and behind him. He's basically pulling it behind him and then the arms rise late in the swing. Left arm needs to be working more down the line and upward from the beginning.
This was so fun!
No way he’s a 6
I wish I could be lucky and run into grant and get a free lesson
Credit to Jonathan for putting himself in front of the camera and being open to having his swing analysed on camera. Couldn’t have been easy 👍
You're so awesome for this.
Grant, why can’t you take the club way inside on the backswing and then swing thru on that same line?
Grant should do a series on just travelling from random range to range and picking someone to do a lesson.
He pretty much is with this series.
@@mre_man I agree with math on that maybe you should do a series
A tracer would make a huge difference in seeing what was actually getting accomplished.
If tracers were easy to add I bet they would do it but with how many shots that are being hit I bet it would be difficult to add that many
This needs to be a series. Grant goes to random ranges and finds someone willing to let him give a lesson.

Great video! This was word for word what we were working on today at my lesson. Having a big issue coming from the inside in my driver, trying to hit my pocket has been a hard transition to figure out
I would give anything to have one lesson with Grant! One of the purest strikers of the golf ball!!
My only issues with youtube golf lessons is that if the person hits a fade, the teacher gets them to hit a draw, and if they hit a draw, they change it to a fade. Still, you are clearly a great teacher!
In that case the draw is just a way to make him hit less on an outside / inside path

Swing looks like Padraig Harrington
You can shallow him out easier if you have him make more hip turn in hi back swing.
is over the top the same as above the plane?
When will that shirt be available? Also I gave you that video idea a year ago on facebook
I'd like to have a Grant Horvat lesson.
Too quick with the hip turn will add to the trail arm coming over the top. Good start though !

Definitely. That leaves the club wide open at the top making it way more difficult to square up.
Very much!
