    I loveee the butterfly, they look "absurd" realistically due to their brightened colors, which makes them so much fun to experiment with. I personally feel like painting them pushes your creativity a bit and helps get out of your comfort zone as an artist

    I like to use both traditional and acrylic gouache depending on what I'm painting! I love traditional for landscape and acrylic for illustrations.

    I'd love to try acrylic gouche, I currently only have regular but I do love that it can be rewet! These paintings are gorgeous and I love the colour palette, especially that mint green shade 😊

    I love acrylic gouache for base layers and for any lines when I'm finishing a piece. Like you said, it's so nice to have that foundation that isn't going to budge that I can work details on top of. I do similar things with inks when I'm working with watercolors.

      Yes I can totally see how useful it can be for certain things! Definitely going to incorporate it more in my art ☺️

      ahhh thank you 🥰 Can't wait to see what you make with acrylic gouache! I feel like the range of colors available (at least from holbein) would be perfect for some of the bright pieces you make like the botanical paintings!

    Great video Sofia, thanks for sharing your process and thoughts along the way! I love using acrylic gouache, but right now I mostly use it for broad areas of flat / matte color, not so much for blending or transitions. Quick question: what palette are you using to mix your paints on? I just bought a Masterson sta-wet palette that I'm going to try this weekend with the acrylic gouache, in hopes it will not dry out so quickly.

      thank you so much! I normally use an old plate to mix my paint 😅 have never heard of the masterson palette- will research!

    Hey I was wondering if you use any techniques or know any rules for how to, like, just hold your hands properly while painting?? I always accidentally get a blob of paint somewhere I'm not supposed to when I've balanced my hand or wrist on the paper. You're very brave about going into all the corners of your sketchbook pages, even when your hand is hovering over an earlier piece - how do you keep everything so clean??

    • @sofiapavanmacias
      @sofiapavanmacias  Год назад

      hi! 💕 ahh this is a good point, to be honest I don't really have a technique, I just try to be careful but I'm not sure that I think about it too much... I definitely do get paint blobs and smears on my sketchbook pages too though!! I also am quite slow at painting and let things dry, which I don't think the camera captures, so maybe that helps too!
