I use Korg, Yamaha and Nord keyboards and between these 2, the sounds are really high quality. Both workstations have it's positive and negative attributes.
I'm a song writer. I don't have a band. I can tell you all arrangers have pros and cons. I have a PA3x, Motif XS6, MOXF6, Roland BK-9. All for a reason.
I only compare not on this video, but with the two machines in my hands and listening it directly with my hears. These are 2 great enternainer keyboards. I wish them luck!
The best thing is to have both if you can afford it! I entertained on a Korg PA 500 for a year at a restaurant bar in Palm Springs California and had a great crowd! Now I have a Tyros4 and a Korg Microarranger (Light weight to carry for an instant gig) and a Casio Privia and many times use all three together as you can see on many of my videos on here. The sound also depends on your speaker system which is just as important as the keyboard. Check them out!
ive been debating on which one to buy...this video showed me what i needed to hear. guess I'll be picking up a Tyros! it just sounds so much more lush, crisp, both thick & bright at the same time & sounds so much more realistic. korg pax on the other hand just sounds so flat & thin. i was leaning towards the pax but after hearing the difference side by side. think I'll be picking up a tyros now. Thanks for the upload
You can't really compare on the tube, I heard the Tyros last Saturday and had a go on it and it is an amazing instrument with amazing sounds, I haven't had chance to have a go on a Korg but I bet it's also amazing, you just have to go with what you prefer but don't judge it on here, go and see them in the flesh, it's much better that way. Just my pennies worth. :o)
i've always had Yamaha (save my first casio ;) ) And I'd probable call myself a tyros fan boy. So for this comparison, It was obvious they were alternating between tyros and korg, so I scrolled down so I could only see the times slider, and started at 3:48 marking down my favourite sounds.... he Korg surprisingly came out on top.. really shocked tbh... I've never invested any time into comparing the two, and must say im thinking of doing just that before splashing out on a t5...
Both Keys got their highlights: Tyros got SuperArticulation!2 and nice guitar, PA3X got TC Helicon VoiceLive II and punchy drums. I used to play a Tyros 4 together with PA600 to compare the pro´s and con´s of both instruments. Depending on which brand you prefer you will always find downsides in the "opponent´s" instruments. As I said, it´s the personal taste of each other which sound is better. I like Tyros for Pianos, Guitars and styles. KORG for E-Pianos, Organs and Drums. So please stop calling one of those instruments "Crap" or "sh*t" ;-)
I have a Yamaha Moxf. Both of these keyboards sounded very good. Yes, they were different sounding. I didn't think either was significantly better but the Korg was slightly more realistic. I would base my decision on the other features and price.
PA3x does sounds a bit clearer with pianos to me. Yamaha sounds more cheesy. I am not a Korg fanboy quit contrary because of my Kronos 73 RH3 desaster experience, but the PA3x is the winner for me. The Organs seemd to be better on the Tyros but who knows what presets have been used. Some sounds are so very different you can not truly compare them objctively.
That's the problem with Korg in general, they hide low quality of the samples in too much reverb. PA3x is a great example of that. The styles production value needs a lot of work, they really do not sound much better than $499 Korg Microarranger. Tyros is not so "in your face" but sounds more polished and balanced, closer to what you would do in a studio situation, although still far from what you would really do. The price of T5 is ridiculous but it's still a better one of the two. Both are highly overpriced.
You mean artificially boosted at top and bottom and widened sound stage. To give more wow impression of full sound which is actually less realistic compared to korg, which is better at mids and sub frequenciess. I give tyros a plus that is better prepared for occasional player who need ready to go machine from start and definitely has some better real instruments sound samples but that polished sound become boring very quickly and from this point korg start to beat tyros heavily.
Korg PA3X is the best !! Despite the T5 sounds good, its price is nonsense, especially as it can't synchronize audio link pad with the style tempo. Crazy price for an incomplete keyboard !!
Lol guys it seems that you do not know anything about the korg's editability and effects. You can edit all those sounds and styles to sound way more realistic than those of the Tyros. It's just that when it comes to factory settings out of the box, korg has always a disadvantage in every synth or arranger out there (lazy programming I would guess), so everything needs a little tweaking. Thank god, the korg effects section is the best than any hardware brand out there, and in my opinion: the factory setups are for losers - want sound? Get your ass down and make it (Ok I am not suggesting that you have to tweak every factory aspect though, but the best players play with their own setups, presets, tweaked sounds and styles). :)
I totally agree with SLK Estudio. Korg is much better, sounds are more refined, arrangements more elaborated and the only reason Yamaha sounds better in SOME acoustic pianos, is because Yamaha make them, Korg don't... Another important point... Yamaha's keyboards are a lot cheaper than Korgs which makes then more popular. By the way, I own, and play, both of them.
bien la demostraciòn ahora que hagan uno mostrando la calidad del tyros 5 y la calidad del korg kronos cual de los dos es mejor dando la batalla en sonido styles voices y armonia y sobre todo la intencidad del sonido de piano de cola
The major differences between the two: the Yamaha Tyros 5 has pitch bend and modulation wheels, the Korg PX3 has a joystick like device for both functions! On the Korg, you get a larger screen in a less obtrusive frame, but where is the music desk on the Korg? It looks as if the sound bar was placed where the music desk usually goes, whereas on the Yamaha, its speakers are at both ends of the top of the instrument and it actually has a subwoofer below, attached to the keyboard stand! This is great for bass pipe rendering for organ, bass guitar, bass viol, etc! Yamaha has a larger display panel for its screen, which also has buttons on each side, and its music desk above! Now, all that both companies have to do is make a dual manual version of these keyboards for the organists and wanna be organists to practice their music on!
My opinion is that the Yamaha has a better piano sound, but they've ALWAYS had the best piano sound in an electronic keyboard. I think the Pipe Organ is better in the Tyros, as is the mute trumpet, but the PA3X scroes points, too. But, then again, I'm biased since I own a PA800. GIven a choice, I'd take both!
To be honest, both are great giants. and each of them is better in a some certain types. However, the Tyros 5 is leading with the audio styles feature which gives more sound reality.
Today Korg has stood the test of time and continues to be one of the top companies for all products musical, including the ever-present category of digital pianos. There is no doubt that once in possession of a Korg, you truly have some value on your hands.
I listen very carefuly both instruments: in my opinion Yamaha is more best, have natural and warm sound, Korg is good but in sound have artefacts, and sound is to hard, after 2 our i need to pause, but to Yamaha i can listen all night. But i felling something Yamaha is not conect in same source amplified like Korg, for some people listening Yamaha is in desavantage. Verdict Yamaha win, with good sound in club is the best
very good ideia to make this presentation with korg and yamaha....both keyboards are fantastic but now we can make a choice....we know that who is playing, who is the pilot, is very important, right? The best way to solve this situation is buying them together.....thanks
TYROS seems to win this competition ...tone color....woodwinds...guitar....but both keyboards are top notch of course, so the best way is to own both of them!!!!
both of these are awesome...... I mean if I have time to practice and set up the voice I need, then I'd go for the korg.. but to play by the ear for a random song live or to play with my friends for fun, I'll go for the Yamaha which has everything set already at the press of a button....
Jeśli chodzi o to zestawienie i moje ogólne wrażenia, to wg mnie korg wypada nieco lepiej.
Interesting comparison. I would have liked to hear a wider variety of sounds. Yamaha has a few great sounding super articulations but I am really getting tired of hearing that flute and that sax in demos. I also thought a lot of the playing could have realistically emulated the real instruments. For example, there were a lot of block chords played with a guitar and a real guitar would never sound like that. I would like to see more examples of where the keyboards differ. Obviously anyone thinking about purchasing either of these keyboards should do whatever it takes to demo them in person. Both of these products are crazy expensive, especially the Tyros 5, since it costs over 1/3 more. In the U.S. the Tyros 5 76 is $5500 while the PA3X 76 is $4000.
Korg sounds like Elton John, Yamaha more like Steven wonder or the old hohner clavinet. My first electronic intrument was a VIP 233 Farfisa, so I only know the old sounds - but those I know quite well.
A video published in 2013 and that I watch in 2021 ! Today the comparison will be Korg Pa4X (v.3) vs Yamaha Génos (V.2) ... and I think the remarks would be the same. Musician friends can you help me ? what is the best instrument to make people dance ... BUT ... only with styles : Pa4X ? Genos ? SD9 ? Not the best sounds but the best styles ! thank you for your reply.
The two have their special sound. We are talking about professional keyboards. For me I would stay with the two to use maximum all the sounds and rhythm styles of each.-
Quality of the keyboard mechanics is also very important. Korg has this high quality weighted keys. I'm not sure if Tyros 5 is similar to this. Soundswise for me they are on same level. For the Korg you probably need to buy the Musikant extension to have the same number of styles as Tyros.
I play Yamaha PSR S910 since four years (I'm 14, german) and I like the sound, the voices and the styles. And I cant decide which is better Tyros 5 or PA3x (Musician or International?!) so I would take Roland E-80 or other Roland it's also very good! :'D
Looking back at this again, it seems to me the speakers on both the keyboards give a very false impression on here through RUclips. What I mean is that that the Tyros sounds louder and deeper than the PA3x and that is probably due to the independent sub woofer. I would say if they are played through the same active monitor speakers then the PA3x would provide a totally different sound and most likely sound a lot better than the Tyros in many areas. The PA3x is definitely the more in depth and programmable of the two while the Tyros is ideal for the home and provides very easy to listen to arranging which is great. The PA3x for me is for the more complete professional with a lot more depth to the keyboard than just arranging. In some ways as they both classed as professional arrangers I would have to say they are different in this class but if I had to choose I would go for the PA3x even though I already own a Tyros 5. Just my thoughts.
Volume level for Korg was higher than Yamaha that why many people confuse about quality of the each instrument. I played with both of them for judging the sound quality it's really hard because taste different but I like Yamaha because I think it's close to real instrument. in the other hand I love Yamaha interface because it's really user friendly and doesn't need to push many key just for change something or use some effects ... I prefer Yamaha
A taxa de amostragem dos timbres da Korg é superior sem dúvida. Até hoje a Yamaha não conseguiu acertar na saída do audio - o som é lindo quando se ouve em seus falantes, mas basta plugar numa PA que você vai ver a diferença.
I've always played Yamaha, but recently got the Korg Kronos. The problem with Yamaha is that my £40 keyboard I bought when I was 10 sounds as good as a top of the range Yamaha keyboard...they all sound like toys to me! But I like how Yamaha looks.
Once again pluses and minuses on both sides. Korg organ definitely won for me but I preferred the Yamaha piano sound... The Tyros has a more glossy processed sound but sounds great to me.
I thought the steel string guitar was far better on the Yamaha; no comparison. I also thought the guy playing seemed to have more fun with the Yamaha -- he seemed to put more snap and add more frills into playing the Yamaha -- perhaps because he was inspired/motivated more due to the better sounds on the Yamaha? I'm really new to all this -- what do you guys think?
i've aPA3x and T4 the PA is a real workstation the T5 sound better the T4 but many fonctions are missing some sound are better on both but the price of the T5 is too high !!
ES VERDAD A MIGO YO TUBE TYROS Y LA VERDAD SI SON BUENOS PERO NADA MAS KORG ES MUCHO MAS EDITABLE Y SE LE SACA MAS JUGO ES DECIR UN PLUS MUCHO MAS QUE TYROS ME IMAGINO QUE T5 DESDE LUEGO LE LLEBA EN ALGUNAS COSAS VENTAJAS PERO HAY QUE ESPERAR U N NUEVO PA4X AHI SI SERIA COMO SIEMPRE SUPERIOR KORG SALUDOS
To me the tyros definitely sounds clearer. ..almost too clear. Tyros sounds like its been dsp'd and eq'd to death. It sounds like a studio product. The korg on the other hand sounds like it's in a bar. It has a live sound to it. Its strange. It has a warm feel to it. Almost like when cd's first hit. People longed for that warmth of a good ole vinyl...both sound great.
Both keyboards has their strengths and weaknesses. I personally tend to go with Korg more often, but the Yamaha sounds really awesome however a tad bit pricey for my taste and wallet.
To be honest, you can't compare either keyboard to the kronos or motif. They are workstations. These are arrangers or arranger workstations. There are two different flagships for each type of keyboard. Their functions are different, so it's not fair to say one doesn't have this thing when it's not supposed to!
everyone supports their own keyboards but honestly they are both amazing keyboards..based on sounds ..not touchscreen cos we are not comparing smartphones on this video
A friend of mine had many issues with the Korg PA 2x.& 3x series: "The Korg PA3X series does have some known issues, and Korg US support for their arranger line is simply terrible. I cannot speak for their other lines, but I've had issues wiyth a PA2X and a PA3X and in both cases, Korg support was not at all helpful, and required a LOT of following up and pulling strings to get a response. If I knew then what i know now, I would have bought a Tyros instead. Since Yamaha is now making 76 key Tyros 5's, I would seriously consider that before getting another Korg."
After 15 years of playing Yamaha arrangers, I could easily say that PA3x is a better keyboard than the Tyros5. Yes there are some things that I don't like in Korg, but it is much better as a package than the Tyros, even though the Korg is significantly cheaper.
Guy Bloy To be honest, the things I don't like in Korg are pretty minor and insignificant in comparison to the things I like in it, but here's what I find mildly irritating in PA3x since you've asked. In some of the DNC sounds (not all of them), take the saxophone or the violin for example, when pressing one of the 3 assignable switches or the joystick, the articulated sample sounds too different as a timbre than the one on the keys, and it doesn't blends too well for my taste. It sounds to me as if you switch momentarily to completely different sample only to play this phrase and than switch back to the sample that you where playing before, and it sounds especially uglier when one is using it way too often and out of place. But that's me being picky now, because these are small things that could be overcomed by properly using the keyboard, and are easily covered by many other significant and useful things that to me makes the PA3x superior over the Tyros 5 in this case. Hope this answers your question.
Thank you for your reply. I still consider Tyros 5 has better arrangements and is easier to use. Just take a look on youtube and count how many Korg users have published a video comparatively as Yamaha's users.
Tyros 5 is more natural sounding, Korg shows stronger personality, same things for Extreme-Oasys-M3 against Motif series. I personally prefer Korg even if some sounds would be better adjusted to my style.
I am also A pianist
the best thing that no body talked about is his choices of songs to demonstrate
Brilliant
I only compare not on this video, but with the two machines in my hands and listening it directly with my hears. These are 2 great enternainer keyboards. I wish them luck!
Tyros has this thin musician feelings that PA series will never met
jajaja !

I will bye the yamaha genos
Korg sounds amazing but Yamaha sounds real!
ive been debating on which one to buy...this video showed me what i needed to hear. guess I'll be picking up a Tyros! it just sounds so much more lush, crisp, both thick & bright at the same time & sounds so much more realistic. korg pax on the other hand just sounds so flat & thin. i was leaning towards the pax but after hearing the difference side by side. think I'll be picking up a tyros now. Thanks for the upload
Cant help it.. I like the Korg, it sounds better in my ears.
Nice camparison!!!
So for this comparison, It was obvious they were alternating between tyros and korg, so I scrolled down so I could only see the times slider, and started at 3:48
marking down my favourite sounds.... he Korg surprisingly came out on top.. really shocked tbh...
I've never invested any time into comparing the two, and must say im thinking of doing just that before splashing out on a t5...
Tyros 5 is the best immitator by far. XD Just listen to those guitar, organ and jazzy sounds... Just Incomparable!
KORG in my heart
I am from Brazil south america a city called Recife and i loved this video from down here at this part of the world ...
Wow What for a difference of quality. For me is the winner KORG PA3X. The tyros 5 have - much of the sounds like tyros 3 and 4 or not?
Hello. Great test thanks. This time there is no doubt at all. And I mean not at all. Tyros 5 is the winner on all parameters. Regards W.N.
Korg--- SUPER !!!!!
Please do a Tyros 5 VS the new Korg PA4x
KORG Pa3X, love it very much for its brighter sound
Korg !!! Korg have good deeep voice and style i like thet
And the winner is Tyros 5. Korg seems to have a wet blanket over it´s instruments.
Tyros has a way better brilliance and clarity in the sounds.
That's the problem with Korg in general, they hide low quality of the samples in too much reverb. PA3x is a great example of that. The styles production value needs a lot of work, they really do not sound much better than $499 Korg Microarranger.

cgereu Good points.
Franklin rodrigues the worst onstage sound output is Roland

TYROS 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The comparison is great. Thank you
Nice work, but what about the dance stuff, Guitars, world percussion etc? Coming soon? Thanks.
Korg PA3X is the best !! Despite the T5 sounds good, its price is nonsense, especially as it can't synchronize audio link pad with the style tempo. Crazy price for an incomplete keyboard !!
Is this Tyros ment to go along with Christmas tree decorations wit all those amusing lights? :D
Very nice sharing . Thank you.
Yamaha unquestionable quality .
Tyros 5 - it's my dream because it's a dream. The best in the world. I hope some day have one.

Pa3X winner! That's my baby
The Tyros wins! Better sound, and it looks good to. So I will sit down at my Tyros! The demo is super, so is your playing!
Korg is always the best! Pa3x is the most powerful and amazing arranger in the world!
If you watch in the video, the Yamaha EQ is set to neutral but the Korg is tuned. Deceptive marketing, no matter which one you chose.
Yamaha Tyros 5 win for me
Korg by far it just sounds so much nicer!
I listen very carefuly both instruments:
in my opinion Yamaha is more best, have natural and warm sound, Korg is good but in sound have artefacts, and sound is to hard, after 2 our i need to pause, but to Yamaha i can listen all night.

Verdict Yamaha win, with good sound in club is the best
Korg PA3X killed the competition altogether. Last best from the PA series!
The Tyros 5 has just incredibly better sounds. Not saying that the PA3x is bad, just that the Tyros 5 is way better. They're both VERY good.
haven't seen much tyros on professional stage but plenty of korg pa3x so i would judge from that which is better
very good ideia to make this presentation with korg and yamaha....both keyboards are fantastic but now we can make a choice....we know that who is playing, who is the pilot, is very important, right? The best way to solve this situation is buying them together.....thanks
Nice tune at the start whats it called and nice playing also.
Fui usuario Yamaha por mucho tiempo, la verdad para mi gusto el Korg PA3X es por mucho, mejor que el T5...
TYROS seems to win this competition ...tone color....woodwinds...guitar....but both keyboards are top notch of course, so the best way is to own both of them!!!!

korg the best
It wasn't even close =/, the PA3x just gets outclassed

Penso do msm jeito. Nao so a yamaha mas a roland tb tem esse problema
I've always played Yamaha, but recently got the Korg Kronos. The problem with Yamaha is that my £40 keyboard I bought when I was 10 sounds as good as a top of the range Yamaha keyboard...they all sound like toys to me! But I like how Yamaha looks.
yep, that is true. i totally agree with you. the tyros is a fu**ing ripoff
Once again pluses and minuses on both sides. Korg organ definitely won for me but I preferred the Yamaha piano sound... The Tyros has a more glossy processed sound but sounds great to me.
Of course Korg, but it is important to know is there some eq gane or sound edit
I thought the steel string guitar was far better on the Yamaha; no comparison.
I also thought the guy playing seemed to have more fun with the Yamaha -- he seemed to put more snap and add more frills into playing the Yamaha -- perhaps because he was inspired/motivated more due to the better sounds on the Yamaha? I'm really new to all this -- what do you guys think?
The Tyros sounds much more better - even though the Korg stands on a Yamaha Stand: No chance at all. Beside that: The Tyros looks way smarter.
i've aPA3x and T4 the PA is a real workstation the T5 sound better the T4 but many fonctions are missing some sound are better on both but the price of the T5 is too high !!
ES VERDAD A MIGO YO TUBE TYROS Y LA VERDAD SI SON BUENOS PERO NADA MAS KORG ES MUCHO MAS EDITABLE Y SE LE SACA MAS JUGO ES DECIR UN PLUS MUCHO MAS QUE TYROS ME IMAGINO QUE T5 DESDE LUEGO LE LLEBA EN ALGUNAS COSAS VENTAJAS PERO HAY QUE ESPERAR U N NUEVO PA4X AHI SI SERIA COMO SIEMPRE SUPERIOR KORG SALUDOS
Yes , together forever...
I personally tend to go with Korg more often, but the Yamaha sounds really awesome however a tad bit pricey for my taste and wallet.
hola amigos ..son los mejores teclados yamaha y korg. pero sin duda que korg tiene mas definidos los sonidos, con mas claridad y dulzura....
Korg PA3x is the Best
Very good playing.
Korg PA3x has more realistic sounds...I would definitely go for korg!
To be honest, you can't compare either keyboard to the kronos or motif. They are workstations. These are arrangers or arranger workstations. There are two different flagships for each type of keyboard. Their functions are different, so it's not fair to say one doesn't have this thing when it's not supposed to!
I know, it's just that someone was comparing the Tyros 5 and PA3x to the XF and the Kronos, when they do different things.
korg 3x number one
Yamaha is a clear winner.........
Loved the Schindler list music
much better sound of Korg pa3x !
Korg is the Best!!!
everyone supports their own keyboards but honestly they are both amazing keyboards..based on sounds ..not touchscreen cos we are not comparing smartphones on this video
Tyros 5 The King For ever!!!
Wins in All categories !!!!
A friend of mine had many issues with the Korg PA 2x.& 3x series:
"The Korg PA3X series does have some known issues, and Korg US support for their arranger line is simply terrible. I cannot speak for their other lines, but I've had issues wiyth a PA2X and a PA3X and in both cases, Korg support was not at all helpful, and required a LOT of following up and pulling strings to get a response. If I knew then what i know now, I would have bought a Tyros instead. Since Yamaha is now making 76 key Tyros 5's, I would seriously consider that before getting another Korg."
tyros 5 , the best !
Will be ever a keyboard available where you would tell, there's nothing that could be made still better - regarding the sound? ;-)
Both are great , but Korg looks more professional and powerful.
you have to try on the stage , after that you can say which one better ,,,,
After 15 years of playing Yamaha arrangers, I could easily say that PA3x is a better keyboard than the Tyros5. Yes there are some things that I don't like in Korg, but it is much better as a package than the Tyros, even though the Korg is significantly cheaper.
Valio keys Could you be more precise? Which "things" you don't like in Korg?
Guy Bloy To be honest, the things I don't like in Korg are pretty minor and
insignificant in comparison to the things I like in it, but here's what I
find mildly irritating in PA3x since you've asked.
In some of the DNC sounds (not all of them), take the saxophone or the
violin for example, when pressing one of the 3 assignable switches or
the joystick, the articulated sample sounds too different as a timbre
than the one on the keys, and it doesn't blends too well for my taste.
It sounds to me as if you switch momentarily to completely different
sample only to play this phrase and than switch back to the sample that
you where playing before, and it sounds especially uglier when one is
using it way too often and out of place. But that's me being picky now,
because these are small things that could be overcomed by properly using
the keyboard, and are easily covered by many other significant and
useful things that to me makes the PA3x superior over the Tyros 5 in
this case. Hope this answers your question.
Thank you for your reply. I still consider Tyros 5 has better arrangements and is easier to use. Just take a look on youtube and count how many Korg users have published a video comparatively as Yamaha's users.
KORG PA3x ..... is a king !
Tyros 5 is more natural sounding, Korg shows stronger personality, same things for Extreme-Oasys-M3 against Motif series. I personally prefer Korg even if some sounds would be better adjusted to my style.
