      @@TrevorsCrabs That's crazy talk. You must be young. Tony was beating literally everyone in vert competition in the 80's and 90's. He was the vert GOAT long long before the playstation or nintendo games. I'm a huge fan of both of Tony and Rodney. Rodney is by far the best freestyle skater ever no question about it, and one could even argue he grew into the best street skater as well, not to forget Rodney is literally a genius. However Hawk owned vert and Rodney thought they were crazy skating vert, he has literally said he was scared of big vert. Ask the Mega ramp guys like Bob Burnquist and Danny Way and even they will tell you Tony's the goat.

    What's wild is I grew up watching Tony Hawk and BAM of course. I also count the threads on the bolts of my trucks. Never knew Tony did, or I don't know anyone else that does. I recently just got my 7 year old dropping in on the 1 footer and went to the 4 foot half pipe and he literally dropped in (with me right there with my arms basically around him) on a 7.75. There was about 3 drop ins where I didn't touch him and he did it by himself!! Was amazing! Proud dad moment for it being his 5th or 6th day at the skatepark and FIRST day on a skateboard!!!! He had grown men impressed and one brought up that he would be the next "Birdhouse" hahah :) I watched Tony Hawk Shred it up at Boom Boom Huck Jam at Six Flags back in the day. Was so sick! Met BAM, Mike Vallely and the element crew at the Element shop at Universal Studios in Florida Back in the day. Anyway I hope everyone has an amazing day/night wherever you are and keep shredding!

    He's riding 60mm wheels without risers. I'm assuming he would have wheel bite problems, if he didn't ride tight trucks. I want to get some bigger wheels to see if it helps riding on rough pavement. Not sure I really want to add a riser though.

      @@lamBETTERthanY0U Indy's website recommends 1/8" to 3/8" riser for wheels 57 to 60 and 3/8" to 1/2" for 60 to 65. It recommends a 1/8" riser for 55 to 58. And no riser for 49 to 55. I'm thinking if you like your trucks loose, you probably need a 1/4" or maybe 3/8" riser for 60mm.

    • @eim1218
      @eim1218 2 года назад +1

      Until u hit 56mm u don't NEED risers, but I ride 57 and 60s, and have 1/4 risers on both. I like to turn quick w/ looser trucks, so w/ the 60s i gotta know where the wheel bites, but putting a little wax on the bite helps if I turn too hard.
      Try some new shxt on ur setup, it'll make u a better/ more dynamic sk8r.

    • @ejb7555
      @ejb7555 2 года назад +3

      If you want a smoother ride for rough pavement without having to use risers, try a softer wheel rather than a larger one. You dont have to go super soft like 78a that is common for cruiser wheels, try something like 87a or 90a.

    • @idmhead0160
      @idmhead0160 2 года назад

      @@ejb7555 I've tried a bunch of different wheels since posting this. For cruising on rough pavement, my current favorite are Mini Logo AWOLs. I tried 55mm, 59mm, and 63mm. I found that wheel width seems to make a big difference as well. I'm not sure why, but, I think that's part of why the AWOLs are much faster than other wheels that I've tried. They are around 40mm wide if I remember correctly. The only thing not to like about them is they are 80A so they aren't the greatest for slides. You can slide, but, you have to lay into it. I also tried 85A and 90A 60mm Rat Bones, 97A 64mm G-Bones, and 101A, 95A, and 90A Mini Logo A Cuts ranging between 53mm and 60mm. I found that soft wide wheels are the fastest on asphalt. The AWOLs are a pretty awesome cruiser wheel IMHO. Also, I found that with Indy standards (55mm high) I can go up to 60mm without really needing a riser. 1/8" seems fine for the 63mm and 64mm wheels that I have. My current favorite setup at the moment is a Mini Logo 8.25 deck with Thunder Hollow Light IIs and 55mm Mini Logo AWOL wheels. Thunders are lower. I had to tighten them more initially, but, found that the bushing seemed to harden after about a day of riding and even if I back the kingpin nut to the end of the kingpin, they are still tight enough that wheel bite isn't much of an issue. Independent turn a lot better though. The Thunders seem to help my manuals some. It may just be the fact that they are tighter.

      Varial is a vert term, which means using your hand to spin the board, not your feet. Really a varial heel should be a heelflip shuvit, and varial flip should be a kickflip shuvit, but using varial for flat ground is what people have gotten used to, even though it’s technically wrong.

      Varial is just a term for the rotation the board is making much like when someone is doing a body varial and only the body turns 180 degrees its the same concept with varial heel or varial kickflip because the board turns 180 degrees with a flipping motion added so nobody's wrong for saying what the actual trick is called 😂😂😂😂😂 but nice try trying to sound smart

      @@BlaxicanGuy dude varial means using your hand to spin the board around, usually on vert, where it was created. Saying varial heel or flip on flatground when you’re just using your feet and not your hand is wrong. It’s just become mainstream to say varial heel and varial flip, even though they aren’t technically accurate. Not trying to sound smart, I’m just saying facts about trick names lol
