One thing I have noticed in Canada is almost all the immigrants that have come to Canada spend nearly 0 dollars here and send almost all their money made back home to their families that were unable to come to Canada. I'm not saying this is a bad thing as one must care for their family. Unfortunately the government doesn't realize the money they spent getting these people here is not having a positive effect. But someone is definitely making money off of this!
You are spot on. In uk, Polish slovakians etc come here to earn money and after three years they go home, build a house with lots of land. They live in homes of multi occupancy as cheaply as possible and spend nothing except for bare essentials. I see them buying towels, linens and clothes from charity shops. I have thought about going to live in one of those countries myself as I would live well on my pension, meagre here but good there.

I am a father of 4 and let me tell you, most families I know suffer financially to afford their children and will suffer financially when they're old, because they had to have the bigger homes, bigger cars, ... and could not save as much for retirement. Even worse: here in Germany the current workforce pays for current pensions. Due to demographic change that's not an equation that's gonna work anymore, really. So my children will pay for the retirement of the childless people, who also had the luxury to set money aside privately. So in the end I willingly decided to be poorer than childless people now by having kids and in the end get f****ed twice. Now and when I am old. Biggest issue is, that it won't change, since families have little to no representation in politics. The average parents cannot afford the luxury to engage in politics in a larger scale. Those who can are rich enough to not be bothered by the actual problems families face.
Sorry you feel that way. You have as much right as anyone to go into politics or be a protester. Before we are done we will have universal credit systems which will appeal to the lazy and feckless and create huge issues for people who like the feeling that they are useful. I could never understand how state pensions were to be funded as it would require sufficient growth to fund it all otherwise it seemed like a ponzi scheme. So one of the investments I went with was land. Over the years, I've probably planted over 600,000 crop trees and over 150000 none crop trees to separate the crop producing ones to reduce and prevent disease. The hope was it would create enough resources so when the government keeps devaluing the currency, making other investments fail and the pension ponzi scheme implodes me and mine still have resources.
Children are a blessing and a joy. Even if you are poor or have to suffer through children with disabilities, it is still worth it. I also have 4 kids. We dont get all the things we want, havent had vacation in 3 years, dont have money for long term savings, but id throw all that i do have aside rather than see them go.

40 years old now. I remember growing up (in 3 separate neighborhoods). There were kids everywhere. Seeing those same neighborhoods today there is more economic decline and far fewer children. Almost none.

I can only speak for myself but with divorce rates at or over 50%......yeah not a good idea. 1) Greatly affects the children on a negative spectrum 2) Fathers will only get 35% of the year with their children on average so they feel the pain of not being with their children on an equal level 3) Father's will lose half of their assets on average and lose 25% or more of their bring home income since states get incentives for raising Support Payments for Title IV-D funding. Look, I know there are numerous other reasons but as a guy that's not an attractive situation to be in. Sorry but given this starts out as a 50% chance to happen most men I know, including myself, are not going to chance it. Until that changes, no one is going to willingly put that on themselves.

Kids don't cost as much as they say. You don't have to send them to daycare, you can use hand me down clothes, and you can cook at home - healthier and cheaper.
People from medieval age would disagree. I am from Eastern Europe, can you imagine constant famines, wars, hunger and waves of Muslims (Ottoman Empire) invading and slaughtering your family. All that lasting for centuries ? Compare to that we live in a paradise. But I get your point, it's kind of crappy world we live in right now. 40 years old now. I remember growing up (in 3 separate neighborhoods). There were kids everywhere. Seeing those same neighborhoods today there is more economic decline and far fewer children. Almost none.

I think you should add Boomer parents to the list of reasons why younger generations are not having kids. There is nothing more heart warming than being told daily from ages 2 until 20 that your existence ruined your parents' lives. This is why I'm pro-abortion; I'd rather have been aborted than to listen to that shit about how we weren't wanted my whole childhood.

Changes in our economy bases are needed to reduce pollution and overconsumption and develop economies based more on service rather than substance/materials. To promote population growth just to sustain our dysfunctional economies is not the right approach.

I can only speak for myself but with divorce rates at or over 50%......yeah not a good idea.
1) Greatly affects the children on a negative spectrum
2) Fathers will only get 35% of the year with their children on average so they feel the pain of not being with their children on an equal level
3) Father's will lose half of their assets on average and lose 25% or more of their bring home income since states get incentives for raising Support Payments for Title IV-D funding.
Look, I know there are numerous other reasons but as a guy that's not an attractive situation to be in. Sorry but given this starts out as a 50% chance to happen most men I know, including myself, are not going to chance it. Until that changes, no one is going to willingly put that on themselves.
