O.M.G!!!!! Minute 50!!! I really appreciate how passionate you are and willing to show it! I feel really alone with my passion, because no one else seems to give that much of a damn! Thank you for giving that much of a damn with big body movements and emotions!!!
I love love love learning from people that experience and learn from what it is that you are teaching! I love learning about Autism from Autistics. I love learning from ADHA-ers and other Trauma'ed people. I"m watching the recording and it is amazing!!! I used to teach in a Life Skills classroom in public education. Now I provide personal care ( whatever that looks like) to kids through DDA. I love to learn more ways to be 'there' for my clients. I want to continue to be my best provider self. Thank you! Minutes 36-40 are hilarious and perfect!!! And so me! LOL
Thank you for taking the time to watch and THANK YOU for the work you do. We are also striving to be our best provider selves and this conversation about interoception & GLP is helpful in that pursuit 🥰
Yes! I think there is so much sensory trauma that autistic people need to work through in order to even feel safe communicating and understanding their interoceptive state. Schools are by far the least safe space to do this in. Educators need to do better. Address bias and work to accommodate sensory needs first.
Agree!! The educational system as a whole is not set up to accommodate sensory needs first. And educators are forced to work within these systems under compliance (e.g., meet these academic standards or you lose your job). There are definitely some shifts happening, and educators that are finding ways to be creative within their systems, but we have a long way to go to create wide-spread educational environments that emphasize safety and communication/understanding of the interoceptive state.
@@KellyMahlerOT I should say the onus is really on those in positions of leadership within the school systems and at the State level who are responsible for making determinations about curriculum and instruction delivery and funding. That's where the paradigm shift needs to be happening. Thank you so much for this conversation!
