Great job, Cassandra! This is very helpful to so many students seeking admission to great colleges and universities. Yale was very blessed to have you!
Hi Cassandra, just wondering whether these admission officers also rate your academic profile(GPA, act/sat, etc.). If so, how are these rated? Thanks for your information and patience in making this video for us!
Hi! So everything that was in the file, I covered in the video. There was no note really of my GPA, ACT/SAT scores. Perhaps these were discussed in the admissions office room with other officers, but there is no paper trail of their thoughts on my stats!
I think I ruined my chances at Yale. I sent a request for a letter of recommendation to my art teacher as I’m majoring in an Artsy Degree… BUT I realized they require CORE academic teachers. I cant unsubmit it and am worried that it’ll affect my decision. What should I do?
hi there! I believe Yale allows you to add supplementary materials even after you've submitted, including recommendation letters: admissions.yale.edu/supplementary
I absolutely love how much you bring up how God has helped you and given you these opportunities. How much did you include your faith in your application (and do you have any advice on where to include it)?
I wrote about it in my UC apps--volunteering in Sunday School! www.cassandracollegecoaching.com/cassandraessays/uc-essays One of my students this past year also talked about his leadership within our church's high school youth group as well as his school's Christian club for one of his PIQ's and he got into UCLA :) I think faith/beliefs can come up quite naturally in any question that asks about an "element" of personal experience! Or perhaps even in a leadership/community question.
Hi there! I’m about to go into my freshman year, and was wondering if you have any tips on how to find internships, competitions/organizations, how to navigate rigorous academics healthily, studying, or any overall tips of things I can do currently that can help me excel more in my future. Thanks so much!
Hey there! As colleges are test optional this year should I send my 1350 SAT score to the top ones and explain y I couldn't do better if I have genuine personal and circumstantial reasons? Or is it better to not send them? (I'm an international student)?
You can search up the average SAT scores of colleges online and compare them with yours! A general rule is to submit SAT scores only if you are at the 50th or 75th percentile. T20 schools like Yale, Harvard, etc. have averaged around 1510 so I wouldn’t submit the score and save yourself from the writing.
Hello, I was wandering where can you find your admissions file, do they just give it to you or do you have to ask for it? I want to see how I got accepted. Thank You
hi! college interviews are actually not a mandatory part of the process; it just depends on whether or not the school has enough resources (interviewers/alum) in your area to offer you an interview. whether you are offered an interview or not has no bearing on your application! it is also for the school’s alum to answer any questions you may have about the school.
Hi Sean! My rec letter was from my sophomore year teacher (AP Calc BC teacher) but I thought it was worth it because I maintained a close relationship with her even after that year. Additionally my other letter of rec was from a junior year teacher, so I felt that it balanced it out.
@@CassandraHsiao thanks for responding! What if the teacher in mind taught just an honors class? I will definitely get my other rec from an AP teacher, but my sophomore english teacher ik will write an amazing rec letter. They are also my club advisor, so i will interact with them a lot as a junior. Any advice?
Hi Cassandra! I was wondering what math class you took in 9th grade before AP Calculus BC? I'm going into 10th grade and have the option to go into AP Calc BC, but I'm nervous that I'm not yet prepared enough to take it. I took Advanced Precalculus in 9th grade (and all the prerequisites for precal in previous years), does that sound okay? Thanks!
"Let's get her to Yale." Best line ever.
Can’t believe this video was posted just a day ago! I just had my Yale interview an hour ago!! Hoping for the best (:

@@joshanderson9835 do you think i should submit my scores to UMass Amherst if I'm in the 65th percentile?
You should definitely send your scores, they don't only evaluate your SAT scores but also your experiences, work, and achievements.

yes
Yes, but if work hard and improve it will help. Also, explain why you failed/scored a lower grade etc.
Haha, just realized this was posted a day before my interview. Wished I saw this beforehand :(. My questions were also quite generic.
