We thought you might like a look at this nice 1966 Vespa SS 180, that Manns Restoration recently completed. Marty Newkirk performed the majority of the restoration work, with Jeremy Pruneau laying down the paint. It's powered by a 181.2 cc single cylinder two-stroke, putting out around 10 horsepower. It's sends that power through a four-speed manual transmission, with a twist grip shifter. It's capable of topping 65 mph when running wide open. It should definitely be a lot of fun for trips around town. We hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching!

The background track is "Terrible Tommy", by Ryan Horne. This video is not monetized, nor do we claim any rights to the song.
I had a junker one of these when I was a kid. The clutch cable broke so I tied it into the rear brake. The back wheel seal and everything was gone so I'd just lay it down and pour some oil in it every once in a while. Kept me out of jail. Then there was the 250 B S A , the 650 Triumph, the 68 Electra-Glide and the toughest, the 450 W R Husky. BOY am I glad those days are gone!
WONDERFUL !!!
Super cool! Looks like it tools along pretty good. Cool design with the grip shift. Neat!
Very Cool!! I like the gear shift, never seen that before!!☺
That shifter is kind of neat, but it's a little odd. I don't like how the clutch lever rotates along with the shifts.
The definitely are very collectible these days. Thanks for watching Alberto!
Hi young gentleman, please put on a helmet next time, at 60+ , strong feeling so good to be young. Blessing from Skudai.
They don't get much better than that! My friends dad bought one of those and wow, I was surprised how much they cost!
They have gotten really collectible in recent years. You could buy yourself a big chopper motorcycle for what some of them cost. They are pretty cool in their own way though.
my dream scooter..... a 180 cc two stroke white vespa
la Vespa è sempre un mito !!!!
Thank you, we appreciate you watching!
it looks so cool dude 😫
my old sporteque was wonderful on UK roads in the rain. gear shift ok. when you had some with hand change or foot change on left or right.(bikes that is).now at 70 i stick to motorbikes & sidecars..
Love it. Both the scooter and the song. Not sure they both fit each other. No? Thumbs up anyway. Thanks.
The song is from a TV show about outlaw bikers, I just thought it was kind of funny. Thanks for watching!
mine was a 1965 eddy grimstead special 180ss may have been a hurrican .british mod icon when it came out nothing in scooters could touch mine.i would often see a scooter on the road since but never an ss so iv bought another its a 1966 its in my front room till spring i just look at it and the world seems good again
Wow these are worth a fortune now.
They are getting really collectible. Thanks for taking a look!
Nice video of a pretty rare Vespa. I never knew they made any with a180
cc engine. I know some of the two strokes at that time were still using
the rotary valves. My boss owned a 1952 Honda, but don't remember what
model, but believe it was a 50cc two stroke engine.
They made a 300cc version of this model too, I'm sure that thing scoots along pretty well. Thanks for taking a look!
Interesting Jeff, I bet the 300cc model was an exciting ride.
Looks like brand new.
They did a really nice job with it. Thanks for taking a look Zig!
Question What was the biggest two stroke engine they made?? And what model what the model was??
I believe 200 cc's was the largest engine that was available in the classic Vespa's.
Thats really cool.I would drive it to work so I wouldnt have to ride people home.
next time i get a job i'm thinking about a motorbike, there;s a 1972 honda cb500 for $1500 on cl that maybe runs that i like the looks of. then again it's from the 70's so power might be a bit low even for a beginner bike, i dunno
Those Honda's are great bikes, I've had a bunch of them. The CB500 gets around pretty well, it wouldn't have trouble getting over 100 mph.
The CB 500 was a nice bike to ride, very smooth. The only problem I ran into was when I tore down my friends bike was the cam shaft. Both the rockers and cam lobes were worn. It may have been caused by a bad valve adjustment, but to me it appeared to be lack of oil at some point. It was still running, but was making a lot of noise.
Doesn't look like that man needs any restoration heh heh
vespa of anarchy wkkwk...
2 strokes scream!
It does do pretty well for it's size. It would be great for running around town.
Clutch & shifter all one unit? Strange
Yeah, I'm not a fan of that setup at all. I'd much rather have a typical foot shifter.
Molto bella! Le ruote però (sia quella davanti che quella dietro) sono rovescie. Dovrebbero essere montate nell'altro senso
Mi dispiace dirtelo ma ti stai sbagliando tu perché le ruote sembrano montate correttamente
