I never really thought about putting any spacing in between the pipes. Actually it never occurred to me that putting them against each other could cause the Dirt to wash out quick. But it does make sense, now that you mentioned it Packing dirt in between and them compacting the dirt as you go is better. Sixty two years old and still learning something new.

Looks like you could divert the St. Lawrence River. Yikes! Had the chance to observe it once, it was just scary. It was like the Niagara river 100 yards from the falls, and 10x faster and rockier.
Looking dry up there ,may to dip water out the pond to get a good type compaction between the pipes. Tighten the fill dirt back up..Looking great as always
Not sure what the slope of the drain pipe is over that 30 foot run, so I just guessed it as 6" over the 30 feet. _IF_ my guess is accurate, each one of those pipes could (in theory) move almost 26,000 gallons per minute. As long as they remain unblocked, I don't think that pond is going to need an emergency spillway, the overflow pipes should handle everything with EASE!
Judging by the drainage pipe that came out versus drainage pipes that went back in its place, I suspect that may have been that engineers first pond job.
Very likely it was not easy to determine the area of the water shed to be serviced by the original overflow system. This could be a fairly old pond that had little or no engineering when built. New technology to determine shed area makes it much easier to "size" overflow capacity.
Looks really nice, but I have a question. I know those pipes are strong and under a regular car they wouldn’t budge but if a extremely heavy piece of equipment went across the pipes would they collapse?
With a minimum of X cover it will hold XXX psi load on the surface, There are formulas for how much for each pipe type. Deeper will allow higher PSI on the surface. The shallow pipe will be limited to relatively low PSI. The engineer will have indicated max safe load. (designing it for expected loads + a safety margin, usually 50%)

id like to see the pond when its done and after heavy rain cos those 4 pipes at 30 inch must shift some water
Or is the pond fed by streams ? As you say, 4 pipes, wow, that's a lot of water to evacuate !

Great video 👍 👍 R u sure they r facing the right way. Haha. Great job 👍
Looks like the pond could use a dredge as well its filthy
Lookin' good!
Even the Hoover Dam is jealous of that overflow system, but I'm sure the engineer has a good reason of all this.
Engineers often overbuild usually by a factor of at least two.
Looks good. If you keep giving John more talking parts you may have to start paying him.
Not just the water running through the pipes the storm to fill them would be quite something.
It's going well great material to work with what more could you ask for?
What is the anti-seep collar for? Is it just to hold the concrete to keep water from going underneath the pipe?
Wow custom 👍you guys are the ‘A’ Team……
In you experience, what is the best type of grease to use on your machines, regular, syn, lithium...?
Is what you were finding, clay, dirt and rock, what you would have expected to be packed around the overflow pipes?
Looks really nice, but I have a question. I know those pipes are strong and under a regular car they wouldn’t budge but if a extremely heavy piece of equipment went across the pipes would they collapse?
Those machines of his are pretty heavy already and he went over them fine.
I believe they are rated for heavy equipment and should be fine.
