We are so, so close to 10k subscribers! I’m thinking about doing a Q&A then, and maybe even a book giveaway. What do you think of the idea? Thank you for joining in this video! It was a really fun one to make, linking mythology, history, and philosophy, and I think that the resulting wisdom is very practical.
Lol, Robbie Robertson used to call me the Oracle. He and his friends often wrote songs inspired by our meetings. Turns out, they knew a secret that I didn't. The term Know Thyself was just as pertinent to me as it was for them. Thanks for this. Perfectly timed. Lemlmts Sean.
@@mythosandlogos Most of Robbie's songs tell my story. He has been a shadow in my life from before I was born. Listen to his catalogue from the perspective of a father whose first born was raised by another man. Most of the times we meet, he was simply my dad's friend Jaime. In 1997, I was hired to interview him.(I'm not an entertainment reporter and actually argued with my editor that I was the wrong reporter to send.) Contact from the Underworld of Redboy was the result. (My mother Cleo is mentioned in his first memoir. And his last song with lyrics, Still Standing, implies that the rest of the story will be in his second post-hummus memoir.)
@@mythosandlogos It's been a long time coming. I turn 60 next month. Truth always finds the light of day. (It's probably the worst kept secret among those of his inner circle, lol.)
So is the oracles name Pythia? The one who told Caraphon that none was wiser than Socrates? Please let me know. ❤❤ Also: Did I spell Caraphon correctly?
Thanks for the great questions! Pythia is basically a job title; what the Greeks called all the Oracles at Delphi. There were other oracles around Greece (like how you’ll find a lot of psychic shops or tarot readers today for example) but the Pythia was the most highly revered Oracle, based at Delphi, and whose prophesies this video follows. We have the names of some Oracles, but I am not familiar with the name of the one who told Chaerephon that Socrates was the wisest. So we defer to her job title, calling her Oracle or Pythia.
@mythosandlogos ok thank you for that wonderful information. I just started my undergrad in Honors Philosophy, and I had to submit a few responses this evening. I just finished reading the apology. Thanks for the correct spelling too. 🙏🩷
Herodotus does offer one explanation of the first Oracle as being a Hyperborean, from the far north. Ireland is definitely a possible candidate! As are the Norse areas. I didn’t want to get too into the Hyperboreans here, though, since that would be a whole other potential video.

Great job keeping this interesting, thank you 👍
You are very welcome! I tried hard to keep a variety in the flow of the video, so I’m glad it worked :)
Amen! Great video :)
Thank you! 🙏🏼

Wow, what a connection! Any songs in particular? I’ve listened to a lot of The Band.

Wow, what a perspective indeed. I haven’t listened to much of his later catalogue, but certainly will. Thank you for sharing.
