Haters gonna hate. Bellinger had a terrific season. No excuses made but IMO, the Dodgers ran into the only team in the NL bracket that could beat them, the Nats. Nats could have beat them in ‘17 too because of their pitching but the Cubs beat them. Great pitching shuts down solid hitting and that’s what happened in the NLDS this year. Nationals stayed in it and simply were clutch when it mattered... Dodgers were missing Verdugo, a big time reliever, and 1 more ace. (Ala Houston)
Gonna let you know I got to see Cody Bellinger before he became a Dodger. It was overtime as they hit one in the back it bounced and he threw it all the way to the catcher to win the game.

Everyone’s commenting on his postseason performance as if that factors into the MVP decision in any capacity. The postseason cannot be taken into consideration in the MVP race because, obviously, not all MVP contenders are always going to be on playoff teams. Yes, I would have liked to see him play better in the NLDS, but the team as a whole just wasn’t playing well against the arms of Scherzer, Strasburg, and Corbin. Bellinger had a fantastic regular season that is deserving of the MVP award, and again, what he did in the postseason should not even be brought into the discussion.

I know the final line numbers are very MVP worthy, but as a Dodger fan watching almost every game, Belli's second half was one of the most frustrating and disappointing stretches to watch. Yes, he would have his moments that mirrored the first half but honestly his second half I feel should be carefully evaluated and show he doesn't deserve the MVP. His defense and all the other little things he's done will probably push him to winning the award but in my eyes Anthony Rendon is the true MVP.
P.S. If October was a factor, he definetly wouldn't win it

Bellinger was nearly 3 WAR better than Rendon. That's not even close. The closest position player in the NL to Bellinger was Yelitch. And Bellinger was still 2 WAR better. He is the MVP, and anyone who says otherwise is looking for an excuse to NOT vote for him.

No, it's not. Maybe if they were within a half a WAR of each other, you might have a point. Bellinger was so much better this season than anyone else however. Even if it was somewhat frontend heavy, the value he produced for the dodgers this season was unmatched. As I said before, Yelich was the second closest, and he was still a full two WAR behind him.
As for this excuse "I watch the games with my eyes".... so what? Do you suddenly have access to information I don't? Also, I watch plenty of games myself pal. You're looking for an excuse to vote for someone else, when in reality, Cody is the ONLY position player that makes sense.

Joe RK MY POINT was that it’s stupid being joyous about other teams’ failures. There’s a difference in not wanting a team to win because of rivalry or whatever but to kick them when they’re down says more about that person that the team they’re kicking. That’s all I’m saying. If the Giants or Yankees had so many postseason disappointments in the past 10 years I wouldn’t gripe so much about them “choking”.

Overall numbers were great, but it's worth noting that his production took a significant downturn after April. He still was bashing homers, but he became way too focused on the long ball, and as a result his production suffered.

@@ok1501 No it's not. However, his numbers were so much better than everyone else's he was the obvious MVP. This year the race is much closer and we have to take the little things into consideration and coming up in big moments is one of them.
@@ok1501 It's not just postseason. In the regular season, Rendon was super consistent and almost always came through when his team needed him. He is also an elite defender at third. All three MVP candidates this year played awesome defense. Rendon would have at least 3 gold gloves right now if not for Arenado.
His post-season highlights would have been about 3 seconds long.
