I think it's just the cutest thing when people get excited over new art supplies, and then it makes me excited, and then my wallet suffers because I tend to want to buy them. Sigh, but it's so worth it. You both had such wonderful results!

+Sakuems Yeah I dont see me being able to afford a whole set of Gouache soon, but I know what I want next time I do get some haha, it's a bit pricey but it looks like it'll last AGES.
+Jellie Bee I know this is a bit late, but I've been using this cheap brand at hobby lobby, I could look up the name if you want, and those seem to work really well for me. They are student grade but they're extremely cheap and you can use them in place for the Coles you don't have

I use Reeve's (student grade so not as nice quality but I really like them) I got them for around $14-$20 for a set of 18. It's a good starter set.

Hell yes to the art ASMR
I just got my first artist grade half pan (Winsor & Newton) today! 😃 There was a tent sale for old stock at my local art store and they had a single yellow half pan for $3.00 Cad! It is really amazing in comparison to my current watercolour set, my koi!

you probably have comments about this but when I've had to use gouache I've found it's better for flat even colors rather than blending with the light of the paper like watercolor is. I have a friend who's main medium is gouache and she told me if i wanted the paint to flow better while keeping the washes even to add oxgall or gum arabic to the gouache instead of water. c:

Your watercolor half pans have different ACMI certefications. AP means non-toxic, so it makes sense that those don't have a warning on the back. CL (cautionary labeling) however means that there is a toxic ingredient in the product (in this case, cobalt), so it makes sense to have a warning.

I've heard of gouache but never tried it, this is the first time seeing it in action and it looks awesome! Its cool they have almost a watercolor feel but not entirely. I never thought of dripping water to my watercolor pans, I always rubbed the brush and would always get too much paint lol! Thanks for the tip ^_^

How long do your water brushes seem to last? I have one and I seem to use it so much but now the tips not as sharp and it is dry. How do you take care of them? Cause I can't clean them like I do regular brushes.

I have a question to ask. I use copics quite frequently but I do use watercolors too. I just haven't been using watercolors as often as I used to and they're all dried out. I have $25 and a 40% off coupon to Michaels. I was wandering if I should get a copic ciao pack for $18.60 or a Sakura Koi Watercolor Field Sketchbox with 24 colors and the brush you have for $21.60 . It is also travel size. Copics and Sakura watercolors have a 5 start review on each saying they work well. I have a nice variation of 22 copic sketch markers with grays, skin tones, rainbow order colors, a few random colors, and pinks. I have nice colors but I want to build my collection up but I really want watercolors to. I was wandering as you being an artist would you rather get the watercolor set or copics? I can take the watercolors to school and use them in-between my free time of class periods and copics. But which one cri
I have never really used copics but the koi water colors are amazing you should defiantly get them
You can reactivate dry watercolors with water, so them being dry shouldn't really be an issue.

+im b Gouache is like watercolors only it's more opaque. You can layer more with it like acrylic but it's water soluble. It also dries somewhat chalky like whereas watercolor normally doesn't (unless it's a cheaper brand).

Gouache is really touchy about how it behaves with water, too much water and you lose the opacity of it and end up activating the layers beneath it and you can scrub up the colors and end up with mud. I don't think a water brush is the best idea for use with gouache.
haha, omg, i was thinking of doing artsy asmr videos too, but i didnt really wanna venture too far with that, i hear it can get supa weeeeeeird, lolol
+Owli Sketches Yeah I actually have an ASMR channel, but because so many people think its weird I've been to scared to share it. I stick to two or three ASMR channels at most, the others just kinda weird me out.

The cancer thing isn't really something to worry about. I've lived in California multiple times in my life and they have that "warning" posted literally everywhere. It's on almost every building and practically every product.

+RaelDanger Aaah that might be the paper you're using ;o; Maxy used the Copic Gasenfude brush pen and I used the Faber Castell PITT brush pen :)

+Brooklynn Wood Gouache is essentially opaque watercolors, yet it's a very tricky type of paint and it takes a while to get used to. I personally love the matte solid look of gouache ^ u ^

Unlike watercolour, with gouache it helps to have a tube of white.
