This is an excellent video. Having originally moved to Temple in 1990 from Austin, i had no idea about Temple except that you had to go through there to go from Austin to Dallas. A few people that are from Temple include "Mean" Joe Green (Pittsburgh Steelers), Kenneth Davis (Buffalo Bills), Ricky Sanders (Washington Redskins), Drayton McLane (Billionaire, philanthropist, former owner of the Texas Rangers). Besides Baylor Scott and White there is the Veterans Administration hospital, McLanes Trucking, Walmart Distribution center, HEB Distribution, Panda Energy, Ft Cavazos(Formerly Ft Hood), BNSF Rail Road. Colleges include Baylor Medical School, Texas A and M Medical School, Temple College, University of Mary Hardin Baylor (Belton, TX). There are two main School District in Temple: Temple ISD and Belton ISD. Both have Elementary, Middle, and High schools in the city limits. Both have great academics and athletics. Maggie, keep up the good work! As far as crime rates, the Police Department posts the crime rates On Line annually. Being from Austin, Temple has much lower crime rates. Plus traffic is better than Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and WAY BETTER than Houston. IH 35 goes north and south through town and IH 14 goes to Killeen. Temple is growing and traffic is increasing, but Temple has built and is building roads before it gets critical helping to reduce some bigger city issues. I know that our official population is almost 92,000. With all of the businesses in town the daytime population is over 125,000. Parks are plentiful and widely distributed throughout all areas of town. Temple has a very diverse population. Temple has the largest Hindu Temple between Austin and Dallas. There is a Muslim Mosque, a Jewish Temple, and assorted Christian faiths around Town. Temple's past growth has been West and South. However, there is growth North and East as well. There is more business South and West, but the Down Town is growing quickly with two refurbished hotels going to apartments and condos. Temple will have plenty of Down Town parking with the 2 new parking garages that are being built. The 5 largest ethnic groups in Temple, TX are White (Non-Hispanic) (53.2%), White (Hispanic) (21.6%), Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) (15.5%), Two+ (Non-Hispanic) (2.91%), and Other (Hispanic) (2.25%). The city has a good mix in most neighborhoods. I know that this is just a small amount of what Temple has to offer. Many people live in Temple and commute to Georgetown, Round Rock, and Waco. People also come to shop in Temple, especially during the holidays because they feel safer. Temple Mall, 2 Wal-Mart Super Centers, 2 HEB grocery stores, Academy Sports, most national restaurant chains, Tractor Supply, Lowes, Home Depot, Super Target, Best Buy, and so many local retail available. and more coming as the city grows.
@@lesaharper7996 why would you say such a thing? I’m asking advice. If you’re going to be impolite you maybe should not be here. The fact that I get comments like these from people when asking about my own safety is proof of racism against caucasians. 🤷🏻♂️
Hey i live here. Tbh other than methheads, wanna be gangsters, and rookie cops waiting to shoot you out side the Tracter Supply Co….then yeah come on down. Also watch out for coyotes that live down town near the railroad. Parts are growing but also dying. The Temple Mall lost a lot of stores after Covid. It’s not a super scary place, but if your gut tells you “am I supposed to be here?”, listen too it. Temple does have its problems but the food is amazing, and for the most part people are polite. But yeah you will definitely see all kinds here.

It’s a diverse city, definitely worth a look to see if it’s a good fit.
Same. I’m white and don’t want to experience racism. Just wondering if it’s safe for whites too.

How about some stats, i.e.: crime rates, population size, and other demographics?
Oh god, do yourself a favor and just no. 😂
