Great video. My dad drive Atkinsons, Fodens and AECs for years. He also drove Scanias. He said Scania was tops, but he loved his Atkinsons with Gardner engines.

I remember ERF with a Eaton splitter semi auto gearbox, great when you knew how it worked, unforgiving if you didn't. If you did London double manning in a day, which we did, I felt I'd sat on a park bench all day😂 . Great vid, always love the old trucks.

My dad drove for BRS before and after the war, many a time I went with him to Witney in Oxford, or queensferry near Liverpool, his yard number for the lorries was 1A, or A1?. I believe BRS lorries were either ERF or fodens?

The first job I had driving artics was with a firm that had a fleet of Ford D series units. Every one of them had no fifth wheel. They were all fitted with the old Scammell coupling.
The worst unit I have ever driven is a tiddly Bedford TK pulling a 40ft trailer.

Those old ERF and Atkinson lorries were great with the Gardner engines and 6 speed roadranger splitter gearboxes...of course the modern Mercedes and Volvo lorries are better...most of them have auto gearboxes now...Bob..Paignton..
