I know that Queer as Folk is a bit older as a series these days (a remake is on the way I hear), but Brian and Justin from QAF really broke every mold of gay relationships in series before QAF. Just as radical as Ian and Mickey in Shameless but in totally different ways, Brian and Justin kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the series. Simply one of the best gay relationships in a series ever, though all of these are right up there at the top as well.
Although I'm gen z(2003), brian and justin have me obsessed . They are legendary but very few people mention them in the ratings of gay couples.

Absolutely... And the UK series before that, was really quite something that, in 1999 really had me on the edge of my seat. I watched the US version several years later and was glad they took it and made something "more" of it. Shame it has been very much forgotten about in these sorts of 'line ups"... It really is much more deserving of praise than some of the others that have come along since.

Victor and Benji from Love, Victor are definitely missing from this list. The representation of a gay latino character is a huge deal for us. In most cases it is one parent who has trouble accepting a gay son, while the other parent might be more accepting right away.

I was hoping Love, Victor would make list. A spin off from the movie Love, Simon, Love Victor is the story of Victor Salazar (played by Michael Cimino) and Benji Campbell (played by George Sear). We watch through the first season as Victor struggles with his sexuality and his crush on openly gay Benji.

I loved that you included alot of movies and shows from other countries. I really loved this movie called "they way he looks" from Brazil, these 3 thai dramas "bad buddy", "not me" and "I told sunset about you & I promised you the moon", I really enjoyed this Japanese drama "My love mixed up", "given" which was an anime 1st before it became a live action drama. I also liked this one from Korea "semantic error", "to my star" and "light on me" as for Taiwan I love " the we best love series 1 & 2", "plus & minus" & "dna says I love you", for the Philippines I love "game boys 1 & 2" & "like in the movies". Those are the ones I can remember right now.

TK/Carlos from 9-1-1 Lonestar is my favorite gay couple. Followed by Cam/Mitchell, Alex/Malec. An unofficial couple that should have been is Bashir/Garak from DS9. Kurt and Blaine use to be one of my favorites, but looking back I don't think Blaine was a good boyfriend for Kurt. Kurt should have ended up with Adam or Elliott, mabye even Sebastian once they got over they High School rivalry.
I agree but it upsets me how biphobic Kurt was to Blaine when he thought he was bisexual. And it is spelt Alec not Alex.

I confess to being of the same opinion as some people who have commented, I really appreciated the couples presented in the video, however I miss some other couples like those of Queer as Folk (UK & US, especially Brian/Justin and Michael/Ben), Brothers and Sisters (Kevin/Scotty), Six Feet Under (David/Keith), Física o Quimica (Fernando/David), Verbotene Liebe (Christian/Oliver), Glee (Kurt/Blaine), Love Victor, Sense8 (Lito/Hernando), etc... but I understand that those I propose do not all meet with general approval and are couples from old series. ;)

A few of these are great gay series and very well done. The others are basically straight series with a little gay token thrown in. Take a look at the Asian BLs. Some of them (not all) will blow you away.
Definitely! Addicted: Heroin with Timmy Xu (Bai Luo Yin) and Johnny Huang (Gu Hai) was my favorite, and the actors were exceptional. A BL series with grit and depth.

This list is so western. Thai and Filipino boys love stories have couples that are way more endearing/loveable than most of these pairs. Check out Bad Buddy Series; Tharn Type; Gameboys or Gaya sa Peliquila. All of them are on RUclips. North America is not the centre of the universe 🙄

Ikr . I didn’t see any of the Asian couples and they’re some of the best. I haven’t seen KinnPorsche yet but it seems to me that the glimpses of them I see would have them in the top 5, and imo Wangxian(drama), SeanWhite, and AePete would rival the top three. I do love Malec what I see of the other two couples is intriguing, I’ll have to check them out

I haven’t seen most of these shows and your video makes me want to watch the ones I’ve missed. They seem as if the storylines for the gay couples are extremely layered and well thought thru, which is often not the case in American tv shows. I would say that the original (US) QAF with Brian and Justin, however, blew me away. I didn’t see it at the time it aired but I heard about it when I was watching Glee and I realized that QAF was a CABLE example of gay life whereas Glee, which I watched bc of Kurt and thus the Klaine relationship (Kurt & Blaine), was very much a “careful” exploration of gay issues so as not to bother the sensibilities of the heteronormative station and (theoretical) fans. You might see the difference in that it took ages for (both) boys to realize they should be a couple and finally kiss, and then another nine months into their relationship before they decided to sleep together.
The only problem I had w your video - and remember that I haven’t seen the show, my problem is based on the trope and the general theory - one of your shows involved a bully eventually getting together w the guy he had been bullying. And apart from the fact that I worked for a bit of time w DV victims and thus have a basic bias against that notion, it is actually true that somebody with anger issues isn’t the best person for another indl to hook up with, most esp’ly if those anger issues were initially aimed at one of the two members of a couple. The trope might be that the other individual represented all that the bully wasn’t able to show to others or that the gay individual made the bully uncomfortable and initially he didn’t quite know why and when he started to get an idea it freaked him out bc he “could t possibly be gay” for whatever reason on that show - he’s a jock; his family is conservative; his family is in politics; his school is filled with bigots; it could any number of things, altho things are somewhat better than they were, say, 10,20 yrs ago so being gay, being part of the LGBTQ+ community isn’t the horror that many ppl used to believe way back when. It is a bad idea for two ppl - straight or gay - to get together after there has been violence in the relationship. Some ppl can, of course, change. But think about how much flinching, tiptoeing, or waiting for the explosion occurs when that type of toxic couple get together. Bc there already was a pattern wherein one person struck out at the other when something bothered them and say they’ve had an esp’ly bad day - what’s to keep that person from smacking the other one around other than real control over their emotions? And do you really, truly trust the other person that much not to ever hit you again? It’s an extremely bad idea. Teenagers seem to believe it’s “just the most romantic thing ever!” and I guess I wish somebody would say something about the truth re MOST relationships of this sort. It’s not romantic. Generally it’s yet another relationship that (hopefully) breaks up bc one of the two ppl is beating up the other one. Not at first. And if they slip, they apologize profusely and say it won’t ever happen again, blah blah blah fist in face.
But. Apart from that, the couples seem great. And I just recently watched Heartstopper which was DisneyLike adorable!
I love Heartstopper so much🥰💜 It has perfect romance, meaning of relationship & love, friendship 💜 & shows how to accept yourself 💜❤

The only one I would know enough about (and want) to add is TK Strand and Carlos Reyes from 9-1-1: Lone Star!
Spoilers ahead, a little summary for anyone who'd like to know about their relationship :).
TK works as a firefighter in New York with his father until he overdoses after finding out his boyfriend (who he was about to propose to when he found out) was in love with someone else. His father and him move to Texas where he meets Carlos.
At first they're just friends with benefits/hookups, as TK is scared to get into another relationship. Throughout the first season they stand on uncertain ground, but have many good moments. In the finale they finally make their relationship official :).
In Season 2 they deal with the fact that Carlos is out to his parents, but they never talk about it and it's an uncomfortable subject, so he doesn't want TK to meet them. They work through this, and a few other issues, and by the end of the season his parents are well aware and accepting of their relationship. They also move in together, but there's struggles with keeping that.
Throughout the third season they go through a lot as well (like the fact that, as they've each been seen to do before, TK gets scared and runs from a good relationship and Carlos is a bit of a control freak, which causes them to break up - though they do sort it out and move in together), they have so many beautiful moments. Carlos supports TK through the loss of his mom, and the show deals maturely with TK's past addiction, and what Carlos's place in helping him is. In the finale, they happily get engaged.
I got carried away talking about them, but they're honestly just such good representation 🥰. They may not be one of the first couples, but they're healthy, they have development and screen time, their relationship deals with some serious topics, and they're just adorable together!! I love them so much ❤️❤️.
Wilhelm and Simon are my very favorite couple they deserve each other ❤😊

Though, I always wonder how you can have a gay couple list and not have even one thai bl drama. I mean it comes out around 10-20 a year and that is not including the normal drama with gay side characters. Between us and Love in the Air is some of my favorite. Especially Between Us who is one of the few series (straight or not) to make consent sexy. Heartstopper is really great though and I love that it focuses on the relationship instead of them just being horny teenagers. Harlan and Cyrus from Wolf Pack is also some of my favorites this year, though I don't think there was enough development to be considered great.
Kinda sad no asian lgbtq+ couple made it to the list. They are so many amazing thai/korean/japanese/taiwanese dramas with gay couples :) Bad Buddy, I told the sunset about you, Don't say no, History, Not me, Manner of death - just to name a few. They are really worth watching 😊

One film from Latin-America is a 2014 Brazilian film called 'The Way He Looks'. Very well done indeed. Definitely worth checking out.
