The bobsleds are definitely an awesome ride vehicle. In the Matterhorn's early years, there was only one bobsled per vehicle, which looked extra fun. Two bobsleds are linked together for each vehicles nowadays, which definitely increases ride capacity, but I still think it would have been fun to ride how it originally was!
I loved when they had climbers going up the matterhorn. It made it seem more real lol. I kinda wish they had put the matterhorn in Adventureland but I love seeing it in the backdrop of the teacups…makes it seem very whimsical
When the Matterhorn first opened it had only one bobsled, which carried four people. It made the ride a lot faster. When they added the second bobsled it slowed the ride down a bit. It’s still a great ride. They need to bring back the carousel of progress, country bear jamboree and the people mover.
Awesome video! I agree 100% with all your points. Expedition Everest is probably one of my favorite coasters at Disney World. But the Matterhorn’s still great too. I always look forward to your versus videos!
Matterhorn still wins in my book. I know its a roller coaster but honestly it doesnt feel like one where as EE feels like a rollercoaster thrown on a mountain. With matterhorn it feels like you are apart of the mountain because the track is SO intricate and integrated so extremely well into the mountain. Its just a constant whirlwind of turns and dips and dodging harold through the ride!! I absolutely LOVE the splash ending of the ride. After all that running and dodging from harold through the ride through all those ice caves...the finale splash at the end signifies your freedom from him because at that point all the ice has melted into this pool of water as you cross the threshold into safety territory. Well at least thats how I think of it :). But with EE being as a rollercoaster you just fly past him and then come into a brake....it just doesnt seem as thrilling. Im not saying EE is a bad ride NO NO NO. It still is an amazing fun ride but to me it doenst compare at all to the great and epic awesome matterhorn!
That's a fair argument! They're definitely different ride systems, and a ride like Everest would have never existed if the Matterhorn didn't reinvent the wheel that was wooden rollercoasters up until that point. In Everest's defense, though, the imagineers went to great lengths to separate the coaster tracks from the mountain's supports and then hide most of them: when on the ride, it's impressively immersive.
@@Disneylander What I mean by it feels like a rollercoaster on a mountain is the train itself. Like you said its big. But with Matterhorn being a small bobsled like 2 car vehicle it just seems very less of a roaster coaster feel. However with BTM...being that it looks like a choo choo train, that too doesnt feel like a roller coaster but just train tracks that got twisted up in the mountain. But with EE...it just feels rollercoasterish lol.
Great video man! As much as i love matterhorn. (First rode it in the summer of 2018. I was a bit scared but I loved it ever since). I gotta give the winner title to Everest. So much effort and creativity has been dumped on it that its impossible not to like it.
IMO... it's difficult and almost impossible to compare such an old iconic ride to a much more modern ride. Again IMO....Matterhorn is just perfect the way it is, especially staying so true to its original version. EE is amazing, but Matterhorn is one of my favorites even with all its bumps!!
Matterhorn should get a bonus point for having the similarly themed Edelweiss Snacks where you can get your very yodel worthy turkey legs and chimichangas...
2:19 Don’t want to be that guy but Matterhorn was the first coaster in the world to have steel tubular track which is what is used for most modern steel coasters, but the actual first steel coaster opened in the late 1800s. Currently the oldest existing steel coaster is Montana Suiza in Spain which opened in 1928 and it operates on the side of a real mountain which is really cool. Fun video comparing the two rides though and I’ve watched a few of your other vids and I definitely think you should have more subs so keep up the great content! Also, if you didn’t ask for permission to use it, you should know that CoasterForce has copyright striked channels in the past so be careful with their POVs, if you got permission though don’t worry about that.
Yes! Very good point distinguishing steel tubular from steel in general, I wasn't totally clear about that myself. Thank you, though!!! And thanks for the heads up about Coasterforce, too. I try to stick with LMG and Attractions 360 because I've spoken with them personally, but I just grabbed the best clip I could this time. I appreciate it!
Great video Bram! I think we can call definitely say Everest is better. I would love to see a Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters vs Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin maybe 👀
Thank you, good sir!!! Astro Blasters is certainly on the list, but I've been afraid to do it because I don't think people will like what I have to say about either ride, lol.
Hey good morning, man! No worries at all if you need a temporary or permanent break from Discord or something, or if something else is going on, but I just wanted to check in and make sure that you are doing okay. PM me wherever if you need.
I like the Matterhorn more for a few reasons. I like the outside queue for the fresh air, a lot to see outside and you can stand next to the mountain to take in the visuals/ sounds. Bob sleds are jerky but that’s the charm of the ride going in and out of the caves. There’s 2 tracks so your not sure what side you’ll be on til the end. Multiple “working” yetis.
On the Matterhorn if you stick your hands out so the water hits ur hands it goes back and soaks the people behind you. Also, I think one of the tracks dips into the water more. One side is also way better than the other.
Great video, even though I adore Matterhorn, expedition Everest is overall better. I hope they fix the yeti someday (the pandemic closure could have been a good time but I guess they didn’t know how long the park would be closed). I would like to see Disneyland railroad vs Walt Disney world railroad or a train station ranking.
Thank you, Belangerz! I definitely agree. Seeing the Everest yeti working would be a dream come true, but I'm not overly hopeful that it'll ever happen. And that's a great versus idea, thank you!
I agree that Expedition Everest is better/newer in every way, but it’s way too short! The actual rollercoaster part is only a small portion of the ride. Matterhorn feels longer. No stopping multiple times to change direction, it cruises from the top of the lift hill all the way down to the splashdown. It holds up really well.
Thx Bram for this awesome quality content of versus! I have NOT been on Expedition Everest yet but it it looks amazing and I really love the Matterhorn!!! For next versus video can you do Magic Kingdom Railroad vs The Disneyland Railroad I would love to hear your opinion!!! Anyway love the channel I love watching you goof around it makes me laugh and smile and just keep up the good work!!! ✨❤️✨❤️✨
According to the lead imagineer on the project (Joe Rhode), the Forbidden Mountain is not Everest, and the secondary peak is supposed to be the rider's "intended destination" I'm sure even Joe knew that 99% of people would just call the whole structure Mt Everest, though.
Oh man, not enough love for the Matterhorn! I like the ride vehicles because they are representative of bobsleds, which IMO adds to the immersion! Either way though, I’m glad you’re back!!!
Oh trust me, I absolutely adore the Matterhorn and everything about it! It's just hard for a 60 year old ride to hold a torch to a 15 year old one, lol.
While understand your reasonings and agree with the outcome, I think for me, I’d give it over to the Matterhorn. EE is a great ride no doubt, but I love the unpredictability of the Mattethorn- sometimes the ride will be a free chiropractor, other times it will send you to the chiropractor, sometimes you get misted at the end, other times I am more soaked on the M than on Splash/Grizzly Run. Timing the ride to be on it when the fireworks are going off is an incredible experience too, and riding at night ups the thrill factor. If they ever do fix Disco Yeti, they will need to slow down the track a bit to see him. My friend was one of the lucky few to have seen the yeti in full operation (her dad worked for wdw so she attended a cast member preview/ was also there opening week) and she said that both times the car went by too quickly to really see him swing at you. In fact, her mom missed the yeti both times lol. She just heard his roars. Disco Yeti also suffers from this too, so he’s not really as scary as he could be However, on the Matterhorn, the 2015 refurb’s Harold is imo more scary as he’s so close to the track, better lit, and better animated. I saw videos leading up to the reopen in 2015 and was impressed, but nothing compares to seeing him on ride multiple times through the ride.
To be fair I feel this was too hard to compare there both two different rides and I hated the Matterhorn that ride gave me such a head ache and the seating is so uncomfortable. Everest is the best ride ever, there's no compresences.

I'm not a fan of Everest breaking the illusion of the mountains size by putting the tracks out in the open. Also bobsleds are really cool

Two bobsleds are linked together for each vehicles nowadays, which definitely increases ride capacity, but I still think it would have been fun to ride how it originally was!
Everest is so much when it goes backwards!
I love the Matterhorn. It's one of those few rides where I'm screaming, laughing, screaming in pain, and yodeling at the same time.
That's definitely true! It's impossible not to be yelling and laughing the whole ride.

Hey Disneylander, just wanted to say that the Matterhorn Bobsleds is 147 feet tall actually. The lift hill is about 80 feet. Thanks.
Matterhorn does kind of fit in fantasyland because of the yetis. It still is a bit weird that it’s located in that specific area though.
I vote Everest! It is so amazing, and that backwards section is an out of body experience!
Yay the yeti rides! Just like I requested.
The yetis are here and ready to fight!
